Many of today’s degenerate Klingon youth do not fully grok the importance of intellect, research, and strategy as pillars of a warrior’s education. Still others repudiate the warrior’s way entirely, citing humans as successful “pacificists.” Bah! If only they would turn their attention to the example of Steve Irwin!

I decided to write this after being OUTRAGED by the number of highly problematic and abusive fanfics I see on this site! Honestly I shouldn't even post it here at all, since AO3 is complicit in LITERAL SEX TRAFFICKING and ABUSE by allowing just anyone to post whatever they want. But it's the best website for posting fic. What am I supposed to do, raise money to pay for servers and use AO3's entirely, 100% open source code to start a new site that upholds REAL MORALITY? Anyways here's my fanfic. If you comment on this fic with ANY NEGATIVE OPINION it's ABUSE and I will call the FBI. I'm only 28, so if you comment on this fic at all and you're older than me, it's GROOMING and I will call the FBI.

Summary
At EscapadeCon33 DaughterofElros, Kiyaar, and I crowdsourced a document of resources fic writers in attendance both in-person and online had used for writing historical AUs. We were looking for second level stuff, what we go to after Wikipedia, works that inspired people to write a fic in the first place.
This document is missing 99% of history and eras and geographies, with particular gaps outside of Europe and the US. I very much hope to expand it.
This is intended to be a living document, please feel free to leave resources you've used to write historical AUs in the comments! A huge thank you to all participants; if you were at the con and would like to be named a co-creator, please drop me a comment.
