Wilbur still remembered the first time he'd laid eyes on Herobrine.
He had been freshly seventeen at the time, a chip on his shoulder and only just figuring out his social footing. Herobrine had been three times Friend's size at least, then, gleaming opalescent scales bright like fireworks in sunshine spilling over the open-air walls of the eyrie. As he'd leaned down to get a look at Wilbur, despite one eye having gone milky with blindness, Wilbur had held his breath and regretted ninety-percent of the choices that led him to that moment.
What he wouldn't give now to rewind to those days.
Because he hadn't regretted knowing the dragon and his Rider then.
Or: Eret and Wilbur are dragon riders, and Wilbur is determined to make his former-mentor and friend pay.

Summary
Eret and Wilbur are in Double Life, and it's not either of their first times playing the game. In Last Life, Eret was given the title Hearteater for a reason. Wilbur feared them for a reason.
They become hopelessly intertwined in Double Life, as every fated pair does. They tangle their very code together, interlaced lines of meaningless numbers given purpose in shared pain and suffering.

Summary
A year spent in this wasteland, and everything seemed to settle into a strange sense of monotony. Everything was based around before and after the meteor, it was almost too simple to fall into the endless cycle of days. So much time was spent without any contact with the world outside their country before the communication lines went back up, and it was easy to forget anyone else existed.
Eret and Wilbur, just the two of them against the world.

Eret and Wilbur have to come together despite their pasts so they can make it through the end of the world.
