Summary
"He arrived on the anniversary of the Calamity. Five years exactly, as on the dot as a stroke of ink on a calendar date. In the evening, when the mourning was coming to its end. When many were already in their homes or bundled in bed. He arrived, stumbling, into a village that had once been the birthplace of one of the many warriors of light. Bloodied and filthy, his armor well made and strong but beaten beyond use. The once bright clothes and jaunty hat of a bard burnt and stinking of smoke. Of something harsh and brackish that curled the nose and the tails of the miqo’te that had found him. One fighter, injured in the battle of Carteneau who would bear no sword again, was struck by the familiarity of the smell. Like gunfire. Like warspells. Like a battle forged in the very pits of man’s misery and desperation."
A playful--and sometimes very Not Playful--study of the impacts of a Warrior of Light stumbling fresh and new into a wide open adventure. Lazily catching the storyline of the MSQ, but primarily focusing on the relationships formed by the WoL and the various players at my own, somewhat unhinged, discretion. It’s said that soulmate marks are gifts from the gods. Certainly, more than this has been said but, well. Luffy’s never really been one for gods or any of that stuff. Those stories are always so boring and long-winded.
