This isn’t the first time Mei’s been set up on some date with a royal he would normally never give the time of day. Itsuki hates it every time and has come to hate it even more as the years passed and their relationship became more than just employer and employee. It makes him wish his job was less about being by Mei’s side 24/7 so that he could spend his Friday night alone in his room (that’s conveniently located next to Mei’s in the palace) and drown himself in anxieties like ‘I wonder how Mei’s doing?’, ‘Are they hitting it off?’, and ‘I never had a chance, did I?’.
