Both Anne Elliot and Frederick Wentworth are melancholy and lonely, though they each attempt to appear otherwise. Neither has any great appetite for an afternoon of socialising in each other's company, but, to oblige their families, it must be done. Perhaps the fates will decide that they are very much overdue an excess of happiness?

The entire point of these charades was to create convincing backstories, ones that would hold up to the scratching of any devious investigative officials. Charles was adept at hiding money trails, creating fake profiles, but these days it was the ‘softer’ forms of identity creation that created a realistic-looking life.
At least, that was what Bran thought.

Summary
When middle-earth froze over in a mysterious climatic event, Bilbo Baggins had to leave the Shire to avoid freezing to death.
On his travels he finds the heavily injured Thorin Oakenshield and brings him along on his journey to a city that is whispered to possess the ability to keep everyone in it warm.
After finding the city, it is different than talked about and Thorin is near death.
