Chances are that he’ll be decommissioned, he probably only has a few hours left, or I wouldn’t bother you, sir.
"He’s a good soldier, smart, loyal, he can adapt, I know he can. He should have been command class, he-" Cody cut himself off, aware he was rambling. He barely knew his general, but Cody was one of the highest ranked clones in the army, if he couldn’t save Rex, his Jedi was his only choice.

The hawk was a Shadowhunter.
Nephilim may have a disgust for warlock animal marks and the ‘savage’ werewolves ability to shift, but their own ability to shift into birds was seen as a gift from the Angel. Their ability to fly seen as a link with the divine.
Magnus wished more than anything that his suspicions were wrong, that it was just a normal bird, but he doubted he had that much luck. He never did with Shadowhunters.
Or
Magnus finds a captured Shadowhunter, stuck in their bird form, and decides to help out until they can be freed. Winning their trust would be helpful, otherwise the repercussions of keeping them until then could be dire.

Summary
Nile is new to Montreal for grad school, but she's fairly hopeless setting up her own wards. She needs help. And for that, she needs to actually find a connection into the local magical community. She's never really been a true part of the community anywhere but her home as a child, so she doesn't understand all that much about it or magic itself, but she's learning.
And if the man she finds to help with her wards also happens to be trying to figure out how to build real roots in the city he's been living in for years, that's something she might be able to help with.
