Summary
“I’ve never been here before. It’s charming, just not my usual scene,” the man says, smirking a bit. Hawkeye doesn’t read any humor in that smirk.
“A special occasion then. To what do we owe this rare honor?” Hawkeye asks. The man stares into his drink and shakes his head ruefully.
“I just learned that my wife has been cheating on me,” the man says, a wry smile on his lips. Hawkeye opens his mouth to commiserate because wow, no fun, but then the man follows up that depressing statement with, “with my little sister,” and that blows Hawkeye’s paltry words of comfort out of the water.

Summary
“I don’t know what’s got into me today.” He said, his wet eyes squeezed shut.
“That’s okay Hawk.”
Hawkeye watched the curtains cast shadows across the wallpaper. The moonlight melding into the glow of the lamp.
“Come on, let me run you a bath.” BJ was whisper talking in that soothing bedside manner. It sent yet another round of tears stinging behind his eyes. This was how BJ comforted scared boys in post-op.
“You don’t-“ Hawk mumbled into the pillow. Feeling the wet cotton close against his skin. He didn’t want to finish his sentence in fear of what might come out. In this state he wasn’t in control of the self-pitying remarks he might make.Bookmarked by oblivious5

“Beej, I feel that you’re not adequately appreciating the majesty of the sunset,” Hawkeye said, gesturing wildly with his wine glass.
“I’m appreciating it plenty,” BJ said, because he was. The light was bleeding through the curtains and casting Hawk’s face in a mess of deep oranges and warm golds.
