Summary
They were ready to be the final tithe to the arcane, a penance for their hubris and folly, until the Mage took their place. With the last of his power, they are thrown into another timeline, another life.
A second chance. A new life to live, in a world where minds do not know of magic. Of a world that harnessed different technology. One that never knew of them, or their crimes, their follies.

For six months, Jayce mourned the death of his partner, Viktor. They had finally had the hope of a bright future, a chance at a full life when Jayce had gotten a call telling him that Viktor's life had been ripped away in a lab explosion.
For six months, Jayce's life had fallen apart at the seams. He was slowly destroying himself with the intent of joining the one he longed for most.
However, as Jayce finds himself in the clutches of a man with sinister intentions, the truth about Viktor's untimely demise comes to light.

Jayce comes to the horrific realization that his passionate, pedantic (perfect) partner is denied proper credit, authorships, and recognition as the co-owner of Hextech and all its patents due to his status as a Zaunite.
Naturally, Jayce tries to rectify that injustice by making Viktor part of House Talis.
Viktor raised a brow. "Oh? Like...a sponsorship? Just like with you and the Kirammans?"
Jayce felt sweat beading at his brow. "Yes, exactly!" he said, knowing that no, it was nothing like that at all.

Jayce just leans forward, blowing across the tea to cool it before pressing the rim of the teacup to Viktor’s lips. Jayce tilts it with a carefulness that's almost absurd. Viktor is terribly grateful.

“Viktor,” comes Jayce’s voice, murmuring in low tones.
He blinks several times, and Jayce’s face swims into view, his eyes wide and fearful, his hands hovering close but not daring to touch.
“Your medication, where is it?”
Medication?
Viktor shakes his head, winces, nearly begins dry heaving. He hauls himself back from the edge by sheer force of will.
Warmth, cradling the length of his face, firm yet gentle as it turns his gaze back towards Jayce’s unrelenting one.
“Where is it, V? Come on, help me out here,” he urges desperately, his eyes searching.

Summary
“You think I stayed because I’m noble?” Jayce’s laugh is soft but brittle, his voice trembling with emotion he can’t quite contain. “I stayed because I’m selfish. Because when that rune spat us out, all I could think was—not again. I won’t lose you again.”
Viktor’s breath hitches at the confession, the rawness in Jayce’s voice cutting through his defenses. He looks away, shoulders trembling as if under a weight he can’t hold much longer.
Every brush of Jayce’s fingertips feels like a brand—a reminder of all he doesn’t deserve. You should hate me, Viktor thinks, you should have let me jump into that ravine.
Jayce’s thumb grazes the shell of Viktor’s ear, a gesture so tender it aches.
After the war, Viktor doesn't beg for forgiveness. He begs to be forgotten, to fade into the void where his mistakes can't haunt anyone else.
But Jayce can't let him go.
