Hawks has had it too good for too long, playing double-triple agent with zero recourse, and regardless of where his real loyalties lie—if he even knows the answer to that himself, anymore—he can’t keep getting away with it.
Hawks’s laugh fades into a humored smile. “Sorry, you caught me off guard. I’ll be serious,” he says, waving his hand in a markedly non-serious manner. “So I let you burn your handprint on me, or I leave and never come back? Those are my options?”
“Pretty much,” Dabi says. “Or you could die. That works too.”
