    Summary

The second time Severus met Kasimir, the man was wearing a dress.

Severus didn’t recognize him initially as he entered the Hog’s Head—the willowy youth had let his hair down from the messy pile usually stacked on top of his head, secured in a bun. Instead, it spilled over his shoulders in smooth waves. He’d also shaved the ever-present stubble from his face and wasn’t wearing his reading glasses, on his face or perched atop his head.

And he was wearing a dress, of course.

It fit him well. Long-sleeved with a high neck, a loose fit skirt that fell to the knees, it wasn’t a particularly enticing ensemble.

(not that Severus was evaluating it thusly; it was merely an objective, distant observation, disentangled from subjective preference because Severus Snape didn’t have a preference, subjective or otherwise, for men in dresses)

    ---
Twenty-three year old Severus makes a friend and falls in love. Learns to love himself a bit. Puts on a strand of pretty, pretty pearls. Takes place over three years.

“Glassy eyes snapped into focus for the singular purpose of glaring at Severus.”
    💀

“Severus felt he deserved a fucking Order of Merlin.”
    Yeah he does 😅

“Should I add capable of fucking knowledge of Arithmancy concepts out of people to my curriculum vitae, you think?”
    💀

“…now his skin glowed, a thin sheen of evaporating sweat making him dewy, like he’d been painted into Severus’ life in watercolor. Severus, a muddy blur, all bleeding edges and contrasting colors that ran together on soaked, disintegrating paper. Kasimir, softly rendered washes and delicately lined in dry brush, slowly, surely, clearing the waters between them, lifting the stain from the page as he crept ever closer, revealing the under sketch that lurked beneath, obscured for all these years.”
Yessssssssssssssssssssssss. The level of perfect accurate technical detail without derailing the sentiment just kills me here.

    Summary

Severus blinked at his fingernails, realizing that when he’d made this promise to Dumbledore, he didn’t think he’d live very long, not even to middle-age. At the time, he hadn’t even wanted to live to his next birthday, but now…at the far end of the hall, through his tented fingers, Severus watched Kasimir stroll into the Great Hall, wand between his teeth, tying his long hair up in a messy bun as he walked—and Severus realized he no longer wanted to die young. When had that happened? And what did that mean for him? For him and for Kasimir? For Albus? And for Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived?

A sequel to Perfect Poison Pearl, taking place during the books.

Apparently I’m a Dramione fan, now. Thanks Bukessi!
The writing is SO compelling. Setting, drama, internal thought process. Literally everything about the Malfoys.
B writes women SO WELL. (Think they might actually *be* Narcissa Malfoy.) But gets Hermione, McGonagall — everyone.

“I have seen you come home with men’s blood on your cuffs, their borrowed thoughts trailing behind you. You dust them off in the conservatory while sipping tea.” 🖤

Look forward to Cokeworth in Ch. 7!

    Summary

"Death is finished, it is no more."

Tom was silent. Then, his lips curled. Head tilted back. Eyes to the vaulted ceiling as if some invisible audience hovered above.

    And then—he laughed.

Loud. Sardonic. The kind of laughter that rang hollow and full all at once, built from something sharp and joyless. Madam Pince looked up from her dog-eared Witch Weekly, brows pinched. Tom didn’t notice. Or didn’t care.

The bouts came in steepled waves, each one louder, stranger than the last. Not mirthful, not mad—just cold.

“Finished?” he muttered between breaths, amusement dragging across his voice like a dull blade. “That’s all it took to die well?”

    He slammed the book shut.
