Summary
When the theme for the 100th annual Hunger Games is announced, no one can believe it - past victors for the second time. It is a cruel move, to wipe out so many celebrities once again, but perhaps it was inevitable. Narcissa Malfoy and Neville Longbottom have both been accused of cheating to win, Tom Riddle has started a cult which is gaining steam, and under the mentorship of Amelia Bones and James Potter, the District 1 Career culture is shifting rapidly from viciousness to honor. After a century, a clean slate is needed.
But that’s not all. This year will be different, as the Gamemakers, led by Albus Dumbledore, have agreed to test new medical technology - a resuscitation chip which gives each tribute three lives. Summary
Remus Lupin has many things he's grateful for. He's grateful to have been sorted into Gryffindor, he's grateful for his best friend Lily Evans, and he's grateful for the way he's been able to go through nearly 6 years at Hogwarts without drawing attention to himself.
The one thing he's not grateful for: Sirius Black and his silly gang of marauders, or more, their disastrous, chaos inducing pranks.
No, Remus is certainly not grateful for anything those pesky boys do. He much prefers the quiet life he has created for himself. Even if they do seem to have a lot of fun, and are rather kind to each other, and have a fantastic sense of humour-no. Even if Remus Lupin could go back in time and choose to be their friend, he wouldn't. He would never, ever, in a million years involve himself with the marauders or their antics.
It's a shame he doesn't have much of a choice in the matter.
OR: Why Sirius Black should never be the brains of the operation, and how Remus Lupin learned to appreciate his condition.
