A soft almost-silence ran throughout the halls, the only noise to be heard was the harsh buzzing of lights, the beeps and clicks of technology, the pitter-patter of feet, and the murmurs of people. It was peaceful…too peaceful, too quiet and too calm…something wasn’t right, something was happening.
At least, that’s what the goat-like creature thought, twiddling his hooves-in-the-place-of-feet as he sat upon his flimsy little bed. He ran his fingers through his scraggly red fur as he curled himself further into the corner of his bed. He should be hearing the screams of his fellow monsters as they slipped further into madness, the clawing at walls at the floors above and the sounds of buzzsaws and bloodshed.
Something was happening, and even though he could not tell exactly what it was, he knew it was something very bad…
…drok…drok…drok…
He flinched at the sound of the knocking at his door, quickly backing to the corner of his bed as his fur stood on end.
“WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!” the creature bleated, his breathing going heaving and raspy.
A woman in a lab coat entered the room, the only thing between her and the crimson beast being the windowed wall that gave the woman a small sliver of room from the door.
“ Calm down Case 61-13, there are no tests scheduled for you today, we are simply here to give you something.” The woman spoke in a bored monotone, heading towards the door of his containment and slipping something though the small hatch near the floor.
“Regarding your intelligence levels, we figured you could put this on yourself. Though if you refuse to do so, we will have to do so by force.”
He flinched at that last statement, shooting a glare towards her and quickly grabbing the package from the floor. He inspected the items as he retreated to his bed, confused as to what it could be. It was soft, clearly made from fabric, and there were multiple items in the lot. Clothes…soft, brand-new clothes, bathed in colours of white, cyan, pink, and yellow.
“…Is this some kind of joke? Why do I need to wear this?”
“It’s for the kindergarten, now put it on and keep it on until we say so. These cost us some good money too, so don’t even think about ruining them. Now put it on, I must deliver the clothes for the others as well.”
The creature shot one last glare at her as she left the room, leaving him to his lonesome once more. He had to admit, it was nice to be able to wear something other than old, grey nursing gowns, and the clothes here did seem quite soft. Though, something still wasn’t right here, what’s happening in the kindergarten? He knew about the kindergarten well, even if he had never taken a single step in its halls. It was just some stupid means of funding the torture of him and his fellow monsters, using their likeness for the sake of silly mascots.
So…why were they needed, and when?...
…he knew something was wrong…
