"Enough questions, Corviel," his supervisor sighed yet again. "You're on nebula duty this shift. Please ensure your nebula is fully supplied with hydrogen this time."

Red-haired Corviel nodded and shuffled out, mumbling,"That only happened once, and I fixed it." As the door closed behind him, everyone else breathed a sigh of relief and turned back to their main task of creating the stars that would be used during Project Earth's existance, rather than the dull niche of nebulas that wouldn't spin out stars in time. With Corviel elsewhere they had a chance to meet their quota before Archangel Lucifer checked it over.

"We aren't here to ask questions, Corviel," his platoon leader snapped. There was a mass drill being run by Archangel Lucifer in a few shifts time, and only the best platoons would be included. The leader wanted to be one of them. "We're here to drill. Now, let's try that again."

Corviel shuffled back into line and the drill began again. On the third attempt, no thanks to Corviel, the platoon got it right.

"Yet again, Corviel, no, I don't know where ambrosia comes from," his co-worker repeated. "Please just stop asking questions and eat, or we'll be late for next shift, and we have an archangel inspection coming!"

Corviel's mouth closed, corners turned down sadly, and he went back to poking at his assigned rations.

Lucifer was tall, and golden, and wonderful, bright as the Morning Star he was named for and everything an angel should be as he inspected their work. In the back row, Corviel kept his head down and bit his tongue. He caused enough problems for everyone as it was, without adding an Archangel to the mix. Lucifer was perfect, everyone's idol, and Corviel was just a fool who couldn't keep his mouth shut.

He couldn't help peeking though, and he could never stop wondering. Which was how he noticed that Lucifer was going from worker to worker, smiling at everyone, and asking questions. Asking questions just like Corviel did!

Maybe asking questions wasn't as bad as everyone said, if Lucifer got to do it! Corviel risked another glance and his gaze was caught by Lucifer's own eyes.

Lucifer smiled, just for him, for silly, chattering, Corviel who got all the worst jobs, and headed his way. "Corviel, isn't it? What are you working on?"

Under the warmth of that smile, Corviel found himself tongue-tied for the first time in his existance. "I'm, uh, spinning hydrogen for a nebula?" he managed.

"And doing an excellent job of it, too."

Corviel flushed with pleasure. "Thank you, sir. Um. Can I ask a question?"

There was a barely audible groan from all the other workers. "Corviel, no!"

Lucifer, however, only smiled again. "I always have time for questions," he said. "Please, ask away."

Lucifer, Corviel decided as his questions flooded out and the archangel listened to every single one without complaint, was truly amazing. Corviel would follow him anywhere.
