Chapter Text
After bandaging up, you two were sent on your way. You walk alongside Asta.
“Um, how old are you, Asta?”
You spoke up, attempting to make sense of where in the story you truly are.
“I’m 80, and you?”
You almost choke on the air. You forgot how slow characters grow in this game. It’s normal to be that old now, best get used to it.
“Um, I actually.. don’t know.”
That wasn’t a lie now, was it? You truly don’t know.
You tilt your head down, staring (well, it appears that way.) at the ground.
“Hey, Asta?”
“Yep?”
“What do my eyes look like?”
What? How else would you know what’s going on?
“Um, you’ve kinda got this pretty fade of yellow and pink.”
“Oh, nice.”
You smile. Though, you have an urge to completely cover your face. It’s not any sort of insecurity you’ve got, it’ll just be comfort.. Though, it’d still be cool to wear a blindfold. It’s not gonna obstruct your vision, so it shouldn’t be that bad. It’ll help with the thought of having eyes like that without any use of them. It’ll give you lore. Awesome, amiright?
“Hey, do you have anything I can use to cover my eyes?”
“Huh, why? They are so pretty!”
“Oh, I just feel it’ll make me comfortable. Everything feels so bright and dark at the same time. Maybe covering my eyes will calm down the overwhelming feeling.”
“Alright! We could go find one of Miss Herta’s puppets. Possibly borrow some fabric from her outfit. One of the puppets should have a wardrobe with tons of spare outfit pieces, in case something happens to one of their outfits. We could ask to borrow a bow from her, and untie the bow to make a blindfold.”
“That sounds nice!” You respond.
You both stop at Herta’s office, the one you recognize as the room where the original simulated universe was first introduced by one of the puppets.
“Herta? Do you know where the puppet that holds the spare clothing?”
“Of course I know. But I’m not telling you. You two just gotta look. Tough, isn’t it? Welcome to the real world, you two.”
You both sigh in defeat.
“Okayyyy.. see you.” You reluctantly reply.
Asta grabs your arm.
“We’re in for a search. You can’t see, so hold onto my arm. I wouldn’t want to navigate without you having no idea what’s going on.”
- Puppet 1:
You and Asta reach another office, belonging to another Herta.
“Herta? Do you have spare clothing here? It’s for-“
“Nope. Now shoo. I’m busy.”
- Puppet 2:
You both get to the next room you find her.
“Heeerrtaaa..?” You call out this time.
“We’re looking for the wardrobe of spare clothing.”
“Not here!”
- Puppet 3:
You both step inside. Before either of you can even ask, she dismisses you.
“Clothing isn’t here.”
“Huh? We didn’t even-“
“Yes, yes. I know. The puppets can communicate with each other.”
“Oh, thank you.”
The two of you eventually find the puppet you were looking for. It took about 50 puppets, but you found her!
“Um, Herta?”
Asta spoke up. She looks at the two of you.
“Miss Asta. And- WHAT? You disappeared when I came back, and you’re just here again?”
“Huh?”
You then realize. This must be the same Herta that had helped you into the station.
“Oh, I remember you. You helped me into the space station, what? An hour ago? I passed out, so I’m still unsure of what time it was.”
“..it’s been 5 years.”
“..What.”
