Summary
“I let everyone down.” It weighed heavy on his heart and admitting it openly was simultaneously freeing as it was crushing. “I failed them.”
He heard the priest hum to acknowledge that he was listening.
“My friend is dead.” Buch clarified. He could feel a lump forming in his throat and took a few deep breaths to try and steady his voice before he continued, “Before he died, he told me to watch out for them… my family I mean… he told me to take care of them and make sure they´d be alright and I tried. I really did try, but it wasn´t enough. I failed them and I failed him.”
“That is quite the heavy burden you are carrying on your shoulders.” He spoke softly, “let alone the guilt you are putting on yourself.”
A grieving Buck finds himself in the confessional of the church Bobby used to attend. What follows is a moment of emotional turmoil as he wrestles with the complex feelings he has for Bobby, leading to an honest heart-to-heart with Father Brian about loss, grief, hopelessness and faith.
(An extended version of the confessional scene in 8x17 but without the earthquake.)
