Chapter Text

As a kid Ej always wondered why he was treated differently no matter how good he tried to behave he was punished; sent to be with no dinner, forced to sleep outside, locked inside outside the house. He doesn’t remember much of his time with the buckelys but he remembers that and Maddie, he was she was 8 years older than him but she always looked out for him but on spring break when he turned 4 Maddie went to see their cousins and EJ was told they were going on a special trip he’d never been on a trip they had gotten on a plane and everything! He thought they might be going to Disney world and had been so excited for it, that was until he arrived at this strange office full of strange people. As it turned out he wasn’t going on a trip his mommy and daddy no longer wanted him and he was going to have a new one. In England.

He’d gone through multiple foster homes some were amazing and some were the definition of hell he never understood why they buckleys sent him away but each home he went to he always heard the same thing ‘Evan-Jack you are the most exhausting child we have ever fostered’ he always had extra energy turns out he had ADHD. By the time he turned 16 Evan had gone through 17 foster homes and 15 schools his last place ment though he met Taylor at school and they had become quick friends she was also a child in care but she was in a group home and they were much worse but they had always hung outside of school that’s why he forced himself to endure the beatings and neglect the jones family had install for him because he didn’t want to lose Taylor. They had planned to run away together when they turned both 18, another reason why they were such good friends was because of the fact they shared a birthday March 19 2000,they wanted to explore the world and would work whatever jobs they had to until then and save up.

3 years later when they were finally ready to run away EJ and Taylor was contacted by a lawyer, turns out a grandmother (Tina ‘nana’ Jone) from the Jones family they had gotten along so well he wasn’t even aware the family came from money, but when Nana had found out about how they was treating him she had tried to take him in but wasn’t allowed due to her so she tried to have him and Taylor over as much as possible , she had left him and Taylor hefty inheritance for when they turned 18 because she knew they wanted to run away and explore the world and when she died he would inherit everything she had, they both had inherited £250 Million when they turned 18 and were completely dumb struck. They had no idea what to say or how to feel except immensely greatful, after years or neglect and abuse they finally caught their big break and were ready to take on the world!

March 2021

“Where do u think we should go next I feel like we’ve explored everywhere but yet no where” laughed Ej, “honestly we keep coming back to Hawaii I feel like we should just finally go there! It’s so beautiful and amazing and you know the language so we should just go there it would be a great way to spend our 21st!! ” Exclaimed Tay.

Their 21st was a year away they’d only just celebrated their 20th but Taylor had always been and advance planner EJ had always been drawn to Hawaii ever since he was a kid he’d watched all of the ‘Lilo and Stich’ movies and series and had even gotten a stitch tattoo the second he turned 18, he had studied the culture and language and had always wanted to go but he wasn’t too sure that if he went he’d leave. “Tay we’ve spoken about this if we go there I wanna put down roots and I don’t want to force you to do the same if you don’t want to but if we go there I’m not sure if I could leave after a couple weeks if ever” Ej admitted sadly

“EJ, maybe it’s time we settle at the end of the day if it doesn’t work out we can move again, I know they we both love exploring but we’re both tired of running away from our old life, especially after nana died. It’s time to run to our new life.” Taylor offered in a sad tone.

EJ thought about it after the attempted lawsuit with jones family over her will that couldn’t be contested, then the actual lawsuit after how they demanded he owed they after everything they had done, he had won obviously and inherited a whopping £23Billion more money than he could ever need in life, he’d give Taylor £7 Billion after explaining she was Taylor’s nana too, he’d tried to give her half but she’d explain he’d endured to torture and he’ll not her at they negotiated £7 billion so EJ was left with £16 Billion.

They still had lots of money left over from their inheritance so they’d decided to donate the lot to several charities, first responders stations, hospitals and schools. Maybe it was time to settle down, they finally came to an agreement and decided to buy some properties in Hawaii under the company name ‘EJT’ .

They’d gotten all the stuff they needed hopped on a jet and started planning on what they were to do. First they brought an estate for them to share they each had a house on the property, there was several other house on their too but they had planned to keep them empty until they had determined what to do with them after that they’d bought several other properties including; housing units, clubs suitable, parks, bars, libraries, coffee shops, that were under threat of being condemned due to poor maintaining, bad management or debt especially after Covid a lot of companies had gone under and lots of people were out of a job because of this.

If the companies original managers had no problems and there was no concerns they didn’t replace them they just invited them back to continue what they used to do, it took A lot of work and so much goddamn paper work but in the end it was so worth it seeing how happy everyone was to either be back or start somewhere new.

They’d also decided to build and open 4 schools for 2 gifted children and 2 for children with special needs, they’d also decided to open several Other health clinics including; and free health clinic for children, a child therapist building, a physical therapist building and an AA building everything that was built was with permission from the island protectors one they got on quite well with was Kawika they asked his advice on all the things they did as they didn’t want to upset the elders of the island no one knew who was doing all of this and definitely hadn’t expected it to be 2 20 year olds.

They’d hired specialists to maintain their properties in order to make sure that if problems do arrises they could be addressed quickly.

It took about over a year to get it all done but god it was worth it, they’d barely made a dent into their money and were making money back too from all of their companies. All their properties were owned but EJT and still no one had knew who it was or why they did it they both had decided to keep it a secret, they had spent most of the life hiding in the shadows but they’d finally allowed themselves into the spot light due to their blogs and that’s the way the liked it.

17th March 2021

“I’m so glad we moved out here, it is so beautiful, are you ready to submit our DNA we don’t have to if you don’t want to it’s okay if you’ve changed your mind?” Taylor asked cautiously
“No I want to do it no matter the results what we’ve built an amazing life for ourselves so it’ll be okay” Wj said with a smile.
Taylor the proceeded to pull out 2 DNA kits and they followed to the instructions, once they had done what was required of them they sealed the boxes and sent them off to their PI who would investigate it for them.

After celebrating their 21st birthday and checking in with their company their results had been emailed, they sat together in EJ living room holding hand then opened the results.

“I have a cousin! A fucking cousin! By the looks of it my mum died of an overdose, no idea who my dad is but I have a cousin this is insane and apparently he wants to get into contact with me?!” Taylor said practically vibrating in her seat with excitement,while EJ sat there motionless starting.

“EJ what’s wrong? Hey are you crying tell me what’s wrong!?”

“Th.. the B..Buckley aren’t my p..parents.. I I I was ki kidnapped as a.. as a b..baby, my real dad is called Commander Steven Jack McGarrett. He.. uh.. he” EJ stuttered Blinking back the tears

“WHAT THE FUCK?! EJ what, wh.. uh what is it?” Taylor couldn’t believe what she was hearing she was still vibrating but not from excitement any more but anger and pain.

“He.. he uh wants to meet me, he uh didn’t know I existed turns out his dad my uh grandfather I suppose hid the letters from my uh birth mum ever after she begged him for help when I went missing. He uhm he lives here in Hawaii, runs that task force 5.0 now I guess I know why I was always drawn here.” EJ said with a sad chuckle.

“My birth mum could handle it, she ended up killings herself 5 years later after she lost me, he name was Cameron god they were just kids, they were only 16.” EJ didn’t even look up just stared at the picture of his dad that the PI sent him.

Taylor was completely dumbfounded, why did the Buckleys just take him to just then give him up? He could’ve had a different life, but how different because by the sounds of it he’s grandfather didn’t want him either, what about his grandmother where was she?

“Okay, okay uhm let’s uh get our stuff and go see him, you said he runs the task force? You deserve answers EJ and the Buckleys deserve to go the prison!!” Taylor said while crying and clinging to his hand pulling him out of his seat.

“I uh you’re coming with me r..right? I uh can’t do this wi..without you T..Tay” EJ was completely distraught, Taylor just pulled him into a hug and pulled out her pinky. “I promise, let’s get ready n go”

90 minutes later after getting a shower and picking an outfit I mean what says hi I’m your son that was abused and neglected my whole entire life because i was stolen, I know it wasn’t your fault but yeah?! He settled for a light pink shirt and grey cargo shorts with his light pink Jordan’s, he’djust gotten his hair cut a few days ago so didn’t have to do much to his hair so he allowed his curls to flow and they barely covered his birth mark after having it cut. Taylor had opted to wear a light blue romper with her with he light blue Jordan’s and had her hair up in a high ponytail, she’d barely done make up just touched up hair eye brows and brushed he lash extensions, I’d not else they screamed LGBT.

They’d pulled up outside the building and EJ nerves were pretty high so Taylor put a hand over his and said “you ready for this we can’t just turn around?”
“No let’s do this, I uh I need to do this” EJ was nervous but determined. “Let’s go” both EJ and Taylor said together.

22nd March 2021

Steve’s life had been far from perfect, his mother was murdered his father sent him and his sister away. He’d joined the navy avenged his father’s death and killed all of those responsible, apart from wo fat. On the bright side after years of pinning he and Danno head pulled their heads out their asses and gotten together, they’d built a pretty amazing life together and formed an amazing team. Grover had been an amazing addition to the team having another natural lead helped a lot!

Chin and Malias relationship was going amazing so was Kono and Adam’s although he along with everyone else was sceptical but after he’d managed to save her from the ocean and Chim saved Malia things had been going great along with the friendship with the 118. Steve was know for his love for explosives so there was a lot of fires so they saw each other a lot along with Athena and Lou R, so they’d built a pretty steady relationship.

The 118 along with the whole entire island had forbid him from blowing up any of the new EJT properties no one knew who it was but they’d been doing so much for the island helping wherever they can including building parks and schools! And saving companies from sinking whoever it was they were a saint so if it was a property marked by them they proceeded with caution, unless he wanted to black listed from every single place on the island!

EJT had helped all of their kids in school as along with the schools they’d built they had started programs within school to teach the kids life skills that they would need after they left, along with additional cooking classes, assessments for each child at the beginning of the year to see if they require any additional help or have any of needs, more teachers and TA’s.

Christopher was able to get into one of the newly built schools that was adapted for children with disabilities, with classes smaller so the children would get the attention they need. May had gotten into one of the gifted schools after he assessment determined that she wasn’t getting challenged in school. All in all the EJT company was helping everyone somehow. The whole island thought so and Steve had to agree whoever they are they’re amazing.

Steves life’s did start out hard yes but it had only gotten better and it seemed like nothing would change that yes he had to deal with Wo Fat but everything had been going amazing it’s not like anything could go wrong right?!

Steve’s day had started out great! Danny and his relationship was going amazing the kids were doing amazing in school and they a lunch planned at the 118 along side Lou Ransone and Atherna Grant, they’d do this weekly and we’re all quite close sit to the fact Steve blows up half the island constantly so the 118 are always kept on their toes.

Everyone was sitting at the big table in the loft; Adam, Kono, Renee, Grover, Steve, Chin, Danny, Malia, Eddie, Karen, Hen, Athena, Bobby, Chimney, and Maddie. This was until a man in a grey suit walked into the 118. Looking for him turning his whole life upside down in 5 minutes

“In looking for a Commander Steven Jack McGarrett I was told I’d find him here?” The PI asked the loft full of first responders.

“That’s me, what’s so important that a PI had to hunt me down on the one day a week I have a lunch with my family?” Steve said calmly after identifying he was a PI.

“Ah you’re exactly what u report says, after a DNA test was submitted by my client It turns out that You Steven McGarrett are the father of EJ Buck, this is the information on EJ and all the proof needed you’re more than welcome to find your own results he said it was okay for his family to see, if u want to get into contact with him here’s my number have a good day sir”

The PI said handing over the file and his card to Steve who stood there silently accepting it.

The whole loft was left in silence, Steve couldn’t believe what he’d just heard, a son?! He had a son?! Why didn’t anyone tell him it was Danny who broke the silence

“Steve? Babe? Can you come here please?” Danny said hesitantly, Steve slowly turned toward the table and sat down with the file unopened in his hand he still hadn’t said a word.

“Steve I’m guessing you had no idea but the way you’re acting but we can confirm okay? But for now why don’t you open the file and have a look at it?” Danny questioned trying to get a verbal answer out of Steve who just nodded, before he opened it Bobby offered “if you want to do this privately you’re more than welcome to do it in my office or I can send everyone out on the floor” he shook his head and said “ uh no it’s uh fine I just I uh” he began stumbling over his words and opened the file everyone stood behind him wordlessly.

Steve began reading the first page about how Evan-Jack came to be, he had to admit the detective was thorough, he’d gotten the still images off the cameras that had shown Evan.. no EJ been taken from the hospital and the report his mother made, Cameron. Steve gasped because he remembered what had happened he and cam had hooked up and after his mother died his father sent him away so she couldn’t of told him, the next paragraph detailed that she had killed herself after 5 years later not being able to cope.

He kept reading and find out the family who has stolen him took him to England and abandoned him, not after clearly neglecting him according to the social service report. All the abuse he’d endured every single foster family all the medical notes, thankfully it seemed his life turned around when he turned 18 and got out of care,the DNA report that clearly matched him was at the back along with several pictures of EJ after finishing reading the report. He finally said

“He’s was uh uhm fuck.. he barely survived childhood the family who took him threw him away after a couple of years he ended up in a care system in England every visit from social services to the foster homes he was either covered in bruises, malnourished and underweight.” Steve admitted while crying there was a dry eye in the room and he continued “ he’s uh 21 now and actually lives on the island it seems when he turned 18 he finally got a break, his uhm lady foster home was awful but he spent alot of time with his uh ‘Nana’ and bestfriend Taylor and they had both gotten an inheritance from this ‘Nana’ when they turned 18 turns out they’re birthday twins, they travelled the world apparently there’s a uhm a blog? About it” Steve said softly.
Everyone was in silence it wasn’t until

Maddie saw one of the photos and gasped recognising the birth mark everyone looked at her as she asked “what was his name before he got to England?”

“What?” Steve said

“What was his uh surname? Before he came to England?!” Maddie said angrily
Steve looked puzzled and looked at the files then he recognised the name he then looked at Maddie with regret. She had told them after her older brother died her parents had adopted a little boy who she looked after all the time she loved him with all her heart, then when she went on a trip and he was gone she’s begged and pleaded for them to bring him back but they refused and said he was too much hard work.

“M-mads” Steve stuttered

“Please Steve I.. I need to hear you say it” Maddie pleaded with tears brimming her eyes.

Chimney then spoke up “Steve?Maddie? What’s going on” Danny then seconded, Steve showed Danny and his breather caught in his throat. “No.. it can’t be! No!” Danny exclaimed.

Everyone at the same time said “what was his surname?!”

“Buckley. His surname was Buckley, Maddies lost brother is my stolen son” Steve said stayed with voice cracking, that’s all it took for Maddie to break down in Chims arms.

Everyone sat in silence while the folder was passed between them each of the breather hitching in their throats eyes filled with of tears it wasn’t until Kono finally asked “ Maddie where the fuck are your parents because not only did they neglect you your whole life because they couldn’t get though their grief to parent a child, they ruined Evan’s life.. I mean EJ, that’s what he likes to be called right?! If Steve doesn’t kill then I stg I will” Kono was so angry and upset she was near hysterical.

Everyone looked at Maddie as she said. “Pennsylvania Hersey, but you’re not going out there to them.”

“Mads I know they’re your parents…” Kono tried to reason before Maddie interrupted.

“No you’re not going out there because you don’t have immunity and means, I’ll bring them here” no one has ever heard her say anything so coldly she didn’t even hesitate, the loft was in shock by what Maddie had indicated, sweet kind wouldn’t hurt a fly Maddie.

“Wait what the fuck?! Apparently Cameron had told my father it was in her fucking suicide note that no one would help her find her baby not even when she sent letter and then called my father to tell him?! What the fuck?! HE KNEW! HE FUCKING KNEW I HAD A SON AND DIDNT DO A THING TO HELP FIND HIM?!?!” Steve was irate no one had ever heard this angry not since Victor Hesse anyway.

“WHAT show me! Show me where it fucking says that Steve!” Danny exclaimed, Steve showed him and not only was Steve mad so was Danny and everyone knew that was bad because Danny kept Steve inline. “He suffered because my father didn’t help? He endured hell because my father was obsessed, because my mother decided to ruin our lives! He.. he..” Steve finally broke down the guilt pouring out of him as if his family couldn’t be Andy worse.

It was Eddie who spoke next who hadn’t said a word yet, “You need to call the pi Steve, you need to call him and tell him the truth, tell him you want a relationship with your son you don’t want one right?” His voice shaking while trying to reason with him know how he’d go to the ends of the earth for his son he couldn’t imagine the pain Steve must be feeling even when Shannon left nothing couldn’t amount to this.


“What? Yes of course I wanna know him I want him in my life, I just don’t know how to even begin to make it up or be any kind of parent to him.” Steve said with weary.

“Babe you’re already an amazing dad to Grace and Charlie and you don’t need to parent him you just have to be there be present for him that’s all he needs, hey you said he and his best friend had a blood right about their travels? What don’t we all go the palace and watch them huh? 118 are off shift and I’m sure I can tell to my boss about a day off.” Danny said with a smile while he looked around ate everyone who nodded then at Steve.

“Yeah that’s uh yeah that’s a good idea Danno”

Chapter Text

Once Steve got to the palace he called the PI and relayed everything he’d said to his teams and the he most definitely did want to meet him whenever he’s ready and that they’ve got to the palace now, the PI informed him he’ll tell Eva..EJ everything Steve had told him. He was so nervous, guilt ridden and kinda excited to maybe have the chance to get to know his son.

Luckily all the kids had a sleepover planned with Steve’s sister and her boyfriend they were sure how she was going to cope but she didn’t have the help of Carla Chris’ aide.

Once everyone had settled into the media room in the palace chin pulled up EJs and Taylor’s YouTube channel and decided to look at his most recent adventures they started with their trip to Mexico, it showed them touring the country learning the language and learning how to make the Mexican food and it ended with them partying like crazy with the people who had toured them around the island they were 19 at the time.

“Omg did you see them god do they know how to party, he looks like he’d be so much fun at a club but how the hell did they get in bed only just turned 21 no?” Kono sake while laughing her ass off.

“Honestly in Mexico if you’ve got money you can get booze it’s not hard” Steve admitted with a slight grin
Everyone burst out laughing, chin the scrolled to them in Texas and this has Eddie at the edge of his seat since he grew up there.

“Ooo this will be fun Texans are built different how are they gonna cope?!” Eddie laughed

Then is showed them touring Texas going to many many stake houses and rating them, they also learnt how to line dance and met the 126 firehouse and got a tour of the fire station, everyone was engrossed with how much EJ seemed to be in his element it was until they heated Taylor bet him he couldn’t do the academy.

“ I bet 50,000 dollars that you couldn’t complete the academy if you win I donate it to the Texas fire house if I win then you do and you have to go to what country I pick next, and I’ll tell u what if u complete it and beat any records I’ll double it?” Taylor said with a smirk, the station was dumbfounded looking at them like they’d lost their minds and everyone at the palace looked about the same.

“I’ll tell you what WHEN I win and break the records you have to double it and do half to the fire station n half to a charity for the firefighters? Then complete it yourself, if u get through it I’ll counter your donation and do the same, cmon for charity” EJ said batting his eyelashes everyone stared at then expecting it to be a joke it was until Taylor stuck out her pinky and said “promise”.

No one could believe what they saw or heard they had gotten the stations captain to call the chief to confirm if it was okay, once the Chief confirmed that it was okay after a long meeting with both Taylor and EJ and after waivers signed and cheques ready they had set it up for it to happen is 2 days across the week then the screen went black saying 36hrs later.

“I can’t believe he’s actually doing that the academy is hard as hell! Especially to do it within a week?!” Chimney said with worry in his voice.

The video then showed snippets of of EJ studying for the academy and the completing all of the tasks with little to no effort, he got a 98% overall for all of his written test scores his first record broken, they then wanted to challenge him so they made him do the Lieutenant written test, which he passed with flying colours getting a 98%!

Which then made him the youngest lieutenant ever. “What the fuck” Bobby said completely shocked

“yeah wtaf” Eddie, Chim and Hen said in complete awe of the young man.

It then showed EJ completing the physical tests with little to no restraint, he did it with ease and style he broke even more records especially the CPAT, multiple fire house came to watch him doubting him being able to do so but when he didn’t they just stared at him with envy.

By the end of the video it showed all of EJ test scores showing he passed being a firefighter, and beating multiple country wide records!! Since he won the bet Taylor then had to do her part which she completed very well she scored high on the written test and did very good on the physical part the both passed and got certified and reserve firefighters, they each donated 50,000 dollars to the the fire station and then 50,000 to a fallen firefighter charity to help the families of firefighters taken too soon, additional to that the had spoken to the chief and had gotten him to order all the station across his region new uniforms and equipment they’d requested.

The video ended with them going line dancing with the 118 and getting food, EJs face was covered in BBQ sauce at the end.

The palace was in silence, they couldn’t believe what happened they had heard about a kid breaking all the records 2 years ago they just didn’t realise it was this kid and that he really was a kid. Steve was going through his file again and found the all of his qualifications and there was alot! He got chin to pull up his all of his information on the tablet he then read what he saw in disbelief.

“I just looked in his file at all of his qualifications, he’s a trained paramedic, pilot, firefighter, sniper, diver, heavy rescue and fuck he’s a trained fucking seal who just didn’t enlist..” Steve was in awe and he continued “Fuck me it doesn’t end there; he’s also got a masters in language, history and English, a PHD in chemistry, biology, engineering and psychology, a Law degree, for some reason a veterinary doctor and he’s also got a…” Steve was interrupted by a voice they immediately recognised.

“I’ve also got an MD and yes many over qualifications and yes me and Taylor are the founder and owners of EJT, yes all the degrees are real yes I’m kinda rich I guess idk and before you ask I have something called hyperthymesia or highly superior autobiographical memory or HSAM and I have an Eidetic Memory it basically means I remember everything as cool as it sounds it very very annoying.” EJ chuckled softly and awkwardly as he and Taylor entered the room they were all in. They all stared at him unable to believe their own eyes to what was happening.

“Shit I’m so sorry for interrupting I..I didn’t mean to I ju..just heard you ta..talking about me s..so I uh though id clarify, we uh shouldn’t have just turned up. We..we can go sorry, yo..you guys uhm can go back to your re..research.” EJ said stumbling over his words as he tried to leave the room before everyone in the room bellowed

“NO!”

“No please stay you don’t need to apologies okay? Why uh don’t you and Taylor come in sit down?” Danny offered

They both nodded and came in wordlessly. They were all silent until Chim broke the silence practically screaming

“WAIT YOU GUYS ARE THE FOUNDERS AND OWNERS OF EJT?! AND DID U SAY YOUR KIND OF RICH THAT ISNT KIND OF THATS LIKE ROYALTY?!”

“Uhm yes we are and I wouldn’t say we’re royalty we’re comfortable yes but uh uh” EJ said nervously he didn’t mean to tell them about EJT but when he’s nervous he kinda rambles.

“EJ it’s fine okay? Calm down everything fine I think they’re a bit shocked huh? I mean our lives got turned upside down in what 12 hours? Oh also nice to meet you all in Taylor Kelly EJs best friend no we’re not together nor will we ever be as neither of us are interested in what the other got in the pants we only bar exclusively for our own team” Taylor said with a smile on her face

“TAYLOR JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, you couldn’t have been more gentle with that no? Just have to blurt it out like you’re telling someone the bloody time?!” EJ berated Taylor with some worry and hurt in his voice.

“Yes Evan-Jack I did because this was you get thru honest reaction either they accept you and the raging homosexual you are or they say goodbye there’s no in between, and I mean it you guys either accept that or we leave simple as is EJs stayed hidden n small for too long he will not do that again for no one especially not a family who claim to want him, and may I remind you I have very similar qualifications if you hurt him I can and will kill you and no one will ever find you again, or I can use my money and ruin your life or hire a hitman just keep that in mind” Taylor said with a dead cold expression.

Everyone just stared at here unable to form words.

“Oh fucking hell Taylor you know what use your skills and just kill me now huh? Or maybe I’ll kill you idk yet you can’t just be nice idk what I brought you just out here threatening TO KILL PEOPLE IN BROAD FUCKING DAYLIGHT WITH WITNESSES IN A MOTHER FUCKING POKICE STATION HAVE YOU LOST YOUR GODDAMN MIND?!” EJ bellowed. Taylor was about to answer until Steve finally interrupted.

“We don’t want to hurt him, and if course we accept him fully the man the my left is my partner at home and at work, Hen over there the one waving at you is lesbian and married with a son, Eddie is actually idk what Eddie is but he ain’t straight so yes we accept you, yes I want you in my life as much as you’ll allow and I’m sorry for but being there but I genuinely didn’t know about you if I did I don’t know what I wouldn’t done at that but I would’ve done everything in my power to protect you and i appreciate Taylor threatening to kill is all because it means you have someone watching your back so thank your for doing what none of could do.” Steve said trying to reason and be there for his son like Danno suggested.

Taylor stood up and walked towards the door EJ stared at confused she held her hand out to indicate to him stay where he is and to hand over the car keys.

“Hmm okay you’re welcome, well EJ have fun I’ve got a date with a sexy firefighter, if you need me which I know you won’t just call me yh? Alright love you also you should get yourself don’t firefighter that especially that eddie guy go climb him like a tree. Bye Ej!!” Taylor said while running away laughing, while Eddie just blushed.

“TAYLOR FUCKING KELLY IMMA KICK YOUR ASS!!”EJ shouted out.

“So uh did you guys wanna come over for dinner? If you got kids they’re welcome if you uh want them to come or uhm we can arrange another time if you don’t have time i don’t know what your guys plans are or if you’re still working, sorry i kinda ramble when im nervous.” EJ Started to bite his lip he was about to apologise and excuse himself but Danny said

“we’d love to” he looked around the room and the all confirmed.

They followed him out of the room toward to the parking lot and to his and he invited Steve and Danny to jump into his car he forgives they might wannna talk privately first it was a 2021 Jeep sport wrangler in Matt black he’d gifted to himself for his birthday.

“That’s your car?!” Danny said EJ couldn’t exactly pick what his tone was if it was disgust, delight or horror. “Uhm yeah I got couple days ago, do you uh not like it you don’t have to ride with me you can just…” EJ started to ramble again.

“Kid calm down I love the car and I think Steve might leave me for it too” Danny laughed, Ej sighed a breath of relief as they got into the car Steve and him in the front Danny in the back.

Hen, Karen, Athena and Bobby got into Athena’s car

While Maddie, Chimney and Eddie got into Eddies and

Grover, Renee Adam and Kono got into Grover.

Chin and Miami’s got into Danny’s Camaro 

EJ pulled out of the lot and began his drive home. Maybe today would end okay.

EJ could feel Steve staring at him and kept seeing glances of Danny staring to he was sure as to why they were staring but he figured they have questions so they might as well ask. 

“Just ask” stated EJ

”huh? Ask what?” Danny question 

“You both keep looking at me like you’re debating on asking a question that you’re not sure on wether to ask so why don’t you start with and easy one and we can go from there huh?” EJ suggested with a shrug 

“Why Evan-Jack Buck? Why not keep the Buckley and why don’t you like being called you’re actual name and only EJ ” Asked Steve 

“uhm I guess I never really was a Buckley never felt like one I guess we now know why, however in school there’s was a shit Tom of Evans for some reason and a couple of EJs believe it or not so people just called me Buck because I wouldn’t respond to Buckley. Also it’s not that I don’t like being called Evan or Evan-Jack idk just not used to it, also it sounds so formal or when Taylor’s gonna chew me out so I just stick to EJ” Buck answered the question very calmly with no resistance 

“Okay, thank you for uh letting us know, listen I read through your file then asked chin to do a deep dive so I gotta ask are you really okay?” Steve asked hesitantly

”Honestly 2 things you guys ask about my name but you got people called chimney and chin? Is chin short for something; uh I don’t know honestly I don’t know I’ve been happy really happy didn’t think I’d ever be happy ever again but yh I’m happy but being okay that’s a loaded question. Some days I’m awful and just wanna drink myself into oblivion and others I’m on cloud 9 and no I don’t have bipolar already been tested do have ADHD so that also doesn’t help”

”one more thing did Maddie not remember me? Or does she hate me like the Buckleys like I said I know I said I remember everything I remember her and what her parents did to me I remember her trying to protect me so I’m not sure what I did wrong, because the only time my memory is fuzzy is my time with the Buckleys I thought it was because of my age but it might be because I was on drugs about 70% of the time. If you wouldn’t mind asking her what I did I’d appreciate it” EJ knew he was being blunt but he just wanted to know 

“no she remembers you I think she was just in shock and felt guilty, when she first realised who you were she completely broke down” Danny admitted 

“What why it’s not her fault, she didn’t know what would happen to me same way you guys didn’t, plus I uh kinda got used to it you know. You build a tolerance to the pain and starving you learn how to survive it was hard I’m not going to sit here and lie and say my life was fine because it wasn’t but i survived and i definitely wouldn’t of if I hadn’t met Taylor and Nana” EJ was painfully honest

”But you shouldn’t have had to endure that you shouldn’t have had to survive to survive childhood! You should’ve just been able to enjoy by getting into trouble, having fun eating sugar having parties!! I hate that you had to survive but I’m so glad you did and managed to thrive despite of it all” Steve was trying his hardest to stay calm and not cry 

“I think what Steve’s trying to say is that although you lived through hell you came through the other side and thrived and look at all you have accomplished, your like the jacked version of mother Theresa, every country you went to you helped them no questions asked and for nothing in return you’re a good kid who got a dealt a bad hand but still went ahead and made someone for himself” Danny’s said as a matter of fact. 

“oh uhm th-thank you, we uh were nearly here. It’s pretty close to the palace. Also forgot to say you’ve got a pretty n-nice set up especially your smart table g-gotta say I love it, I’m a bit nerdy when it comes to that’s kind of stuff” EJ was clearly nervous but he has a family that clearly want him so he was going to try. 

They pulled into an estate, it was a gated community by the looks of it Buck had to use his thumb in order to open the gate then started to drive in, when they pulled into the estate it was the most beautiful thing they’d ever seen they just say their with slack jaws in the car EJ just smirked and kept driving slowly so they could get a good look, all of the house were vacant.

Both him and Tay had decided to keep it vacant until they’d decided on what they would do. They had a plan to eventually invite friends or family to live on the estate with them once they’d found them or made them so until then it stayed bare.

They eventually pulled up to EJ house is you could call it that?! It was a mansion the gates to his house were massive and again he hung out of his window and put his thumb to keypad, then the gates opened and they drove in. EJ parked up first and jumped out the car awaiting the other to park in the enormous drive way and come toward him.

Once they’d parked they made their way to EJ their eyes were massive and jaws were to the floor 

“Th-this is where you uh live?” Danny said 

“uh yeah, come on it’s hot outside let’s go in, and dont worry im not some push ass snob lol I just felt like treating myself tays house is just around the corner.” EJ knew what everyone eas thinking so he tried to calm the situation. 

Everyone followed him silently and to say the inside didn’t disappoint was an understatement, (use your imagination). They’d made their way into the kitchen EJ invited them all to sit at the kitchen island and they and they all sit their comfortably and it’s so spacious. 

“Anyone hungry or want a drink? There’s tequila, tequila, oh here oh more tequila, wait here we go longboards, wine, Dr Pepper, lemonade, water and cocktails” EJ hadn’t really had company outside of Taylor so was unsure what to do 

He got out some glasses and shot glasses and ended up grabbing out everything he names so everyone could pick out what they wanted. 

“So uh I guess you guys have some questions but uhm I have some first if that’s okay?” EJ maybe be a trained seal who didn’t enlist but he was a very insecure man, he poured out a shot of tequila and down it and then another. And poured himself a cocktail. Everyone stared at him like they were thinking about checking him into AA 

“I grew up in England I’ve been drinking since I was 14 in the middle of fields with kids I went to school with, drinking in England is like second nature  and to be fair I was a late bloomer. So stop looking at me like you want to put me in rehab.” EJ said defensively 

“Oh no it’s not that kid wait 14? That’s uh young how’d you get the alcohol?” Bobby said wearily taking a sip of his beer

”Oh easy you walk into your local corner store get friend with boss man and he’ll let ya get drinks n cigs nice n easy moneys money to them so they don’t care.” EJ said with a laugh 

It was Athena who spoke next “you smoked cigarettes at 14? And drank at 14?” She was most definitely a mama bear 

“Well I started drinking at 14 smoking at 12, most of the families I was place w smoked so it was easy, n I’d buy en at school too so yh that how me n Tay met she bummed a fag off me” Ej didn’t mind them knowing 

“She bum-what? Im so confused your accent is beautiful but the language is confusing as hell!” Hen said so confused 

EJ just laughed and said “she took a cigarette off of me, what language would be easier; French, Spanish, Farsi, German, Welsh, Irish, Arabic, Russian, Polish, Mandarin, ASL, BSL, Urdu or last but not least Pidgin? If English isn’t cutting it” EJ was full on laughing now 

“What the fuck are you even human?!” Eddie asked in disbelief spitting out his drink laughing 

“I mean i think so the amount of time I’ve broken a bone or had internal bleeding I sure hope to fuck I am other wise what kind of sick joke is that, AND PUBERTY WTF WAS THAT it was like I went to bed the shorted kid in my year and woke up a giraffe” EJ was laughing and crying tears of joy 

“We at least you got to 6ft” Chim said in an annoyed tone which made everyone laugh.

Ej finally looked at Maddie and said “Hi mads and don’t worry I’m not mad at you missed you like hell though I sent my PI to find you too but turns out he didn’t need to I’m so happy that found such an amazing family especially away from those piece of shit Buckleys” EJ offered with a smile that’s all it took for Maddie to charge at him and give him the biggest hug ever she just melted into his arms crying muttering apologies. 

“You know when we first met Maddie all she would ever talk about was her baby brother who just loved everything and anything especially spiders and would tell her off and cry if she killed one” Athena said in a soft tone 

“Hey they did no wrong and she didn’t kill them she annihilated them, those spiders stood no chance you know” Ej was smiling at them with Maddie still in her arms 

“so kid gotta ask—“ Danny tried to say before he was interrupted 

“why’d everyone calling me kid? Uno I’m 21 right? Ima full grown man I have a house a car no wait multiple houses n cars!” EJ like the endearment was just curious he’d finally let go of Maddie who sat next to chim while he sat on the top of island in the middle of it so he could see everyone

“Kid you’re 21 you ain’t no where near full grown and I think that answers our question you’re the youngest ergo kid” said Danny with a smirk 

“Ergo? Fucking Ergo? Who are you Shakespeare?” EJ spat out his drink laughing and so did Steve 

“Oh fuck it’s so weird right? He’s from fucking jersey n says shit like ‘Ergo’ ‘Furthmore’ like tf, Danno you gotta stop it” Steve was now cackling 

“Hey now Steven, just because I ca—“ Danny was interrupted by EJ again 

“Furthermore?? Wtaf no that’s too much that’s j funny! Wait Danno hmm I like it, it suits you think imma call you that now” EJ said with a smirk 

“oh my fucking god theres two of them, and yes Danno is something my children call me your Steve’s kid ergoooo my kid so I fully support you calling me it your dad in the other hand I do not” Danny was pleased with himself and could see Steve smile when he called him dad 

“Why dont you like it? Its like a term of endearment like how lot insist on calling me kid, Pot meet Kettle” EJ said with a smirk 

Kono, Lou and chin all chimed in saying at the same time “oh good there is two them”while full on belly laughing. 

Both Steve and EJ said “What’s that supposed to mean?” Cocking their head to the left. Which made everyone laugh.

”Anyway as I was saying why is your surname Buck? I can understand not wanting Buckley but why Buck” Danny asked with curiosity.

This made Maddie and EJ look at each other , ej nodded at her for her to to tell the story.

”Basically when EJ was a kid he hated the name Evan-Jack because of the way the Buckleys would say it so he asked me to call him Buck bc it was a nickname which we’re not allowed at 2 yr old EJ thought it was cool” Maddie smiled when she told them 

“Ah okay, so why EJ? Now instead of of Buck?” Steve asked his son cautiously. 

“Uhm as I got older I got used to being called Evan-Jack I wasn’t an exact fan but didn’t mine but I preferred EJ especially because there was a lot of Evan’s in my classes and Buck was something I shared with Maddie so when I was taken away from her I didn’t let anyone call me it because it was Mine and hers, but when I turned 18 I got it changed to Evan-Jack Buck, which is where me and Taylor started our crazy as journey” EJ laughed 

“I’ve gotta ask and I’m sorry everyone thinking it and wondering but no one’s asking, how rich are you?!” Chim asked with lots of hesitation but he needed to know 

“CHIMNEY!” Everyone shouted 

“No, no it’s fine I was waiting for someone to ask, do you mean right now or when I turned 18?” Ej asked 

“both” everyone said 

Ej then explained how he and Taylor met and how they got close with nana Tina then he told them how much she gave them 

“She gave us both £250 when we turned at as an inheritance or birthday present not sure we used that to travel the world and then when we turned 18 she’d died and I inherited everything she owned which came to £23 billion I gave £7 billion to Taylor I tried to give her half because it’s what Nana would’ve wanted but we both knew she couldn’t because the Jones family could contest and we both possibly lose it all but yh Taylor didn’t wanna be dealing with that kind of of money. The money we got at 18 whatever was left over which was a hell of a lot just under half a billion we donated to various charities, schools, hospitals etc. When we both decided to put some roots down we pooled some money together and with the currency difference it helped and started EJT. But now I’ve got about 14 Billion dollars but it’s quite a bit but yh I’m comfortable.” 

Everyone just stared at him completely godsmacked. 

“Anyways moving on.. anyone hungry? I can cook, get someone to cook for us or we can order in either way id like to keep talking n ask questions about your guys’ life but i plan on being drunk and i need food!” EJ Laughed

When no one answered he jumped off the counter grabbed A bag out of the cupboard and filled it with snack then he grabbed the tequila and walked towards the living room drinking it, if you could call it that Kono thought it was the size of her house. 

Everyone stood up n followed him with their drinks into the room where EJ just sat there downing the tequila. It wasn’t until Steve next to EJ and grabbed EJ hand to take the tequila and a swigged it. 

“So let’s talk huh tell me everything” Ej said slightly tipsy 

So everyone talked about their lives and how they met each other etc there was alot of laughs a few tears and everyone was very drunk by the end of the conversation.

Then Taylor walked in on them all laughing. 

“Hey EJ, I told you it’d be okay didn’t I? Oh poor baby are you drunk” Taylor said with a smile 

“Tay Tay! Oh my yo-you were right!” Okay maybe EJ was very drunk

”hey guess what Tay?” EJ said trying to whisper but clearly wasn’t

“what up bub?” Taylor said while stroke his soft curls he was laying on the couch head Steve’s lap legs on Dannos lap  and she was crouched in front of him. 

“I have a dad ac-actually I g-got two dads, Danno and Steve, Danno n Dad it’s nice right? There the guys that anre letting me use them ans furniture. N Steve calls me pup bc he’s a SEAL and a baby seal is called a pup it’s nice but don’t tell him that ok? And get this they love me! And I found Maddie ‘gain n she still loves me, n the 118 n 5.0 all love me, for some reason. But I’m not gonna lie some of them have weird names I mean one guys called Chimney?! I thought my life was bad his parents called him chimney!” EJ tried to whisper again but was so unsuccessful everyone laughed while heartily. 

“uh oh they heard me didn’t they they’re not mad are they? Tay even if they are yo-yoire not allowed to kill them! ‘Cause that’s illegal wait if you join 5.0 they’ve got immunity n means, said no I don’t want them dead you can beat them up though that’s what up will allow ” EJ asked bottom lip trembling 

“Oh bub, they’re not mad they’re happy, so happy and so am I, also you couldn’t stop me from killing then if you wanted to, you know one thing I don’t like about you? No matter how much you drink you never have a hang over or are sick maybe but emotional but never sick not fair” Taylor said while wiping his tears 

“huh maybe there is a god after all suffered enough don’t deserve to while having fun lol, so did you propose to her yet? I mean I’m surprised she’s not moved into your house yet lemme see a pic of this Lucy ‘Taylor pulled out her phone and showed him he sat up took her phone and said’ damn she’s hot and you know she’s hot if a gay man’s saying that. So did you kidnap her instead? Maybe invite her to join our cult?” EJ said while laughing 

“Our cult huh? I mean you’ve got an entire estate so what your plan kidnap all of these people and force them to live in luxurious houses free of charge, with only a small commute to work and the schools, god forbid how will they cope!” Taylor smiled knowing full well that what they both wanted.

”Huh not a bad idea I mean the kidnapping part seems bad but them taking the houses is a good idea it’s what we always spoke about what about you guys want a free house? They’re all at least 4 bedrooms all you’d have to pay for is your food all the houses are powered by solar panels much better for the environment!” Ej said calmly 

“What?!” They all screamed this caused EJ to look at all of them 

“what do you mean what?” Ej said confused 

“You want us all to live on your property for free? I mean don’t get me wrong the houses are beautiful and it’s a perfect place for the kids to grow up and we all spend our time together anyways and it is a better commute and it’s private and safe but seriously for free maybe you should think about this when your sober and it does seem a little ‘culty’” Athena said in shock.

”wait you’d all actually wanna live here, really? No fooling” EJ said with a smile 

Everyone nodded unsure if he was serious or not then Taylor spoke up. 

“Believe it or not this was our dream we always wanted our family and/or friends to live with us here it’s why we got so many houses for our family or as you say Obana so yes bucks completely serious anyways let me show me you guys the guest room you’ve all had a bit to drink and one of you lot can carry him to bed. And we can all talk in the morning and get moving companies. I mean you’ve heard how lesbians are right we move you in the next day or know you!” Taylor Chuckled 

Eddie threw EJ over his shoulders in a fireman carry while they followed Taylor toward the elevator. 

“Tay you was right, he is a tall drink of water I mean look he just threw me over shoulder like I was a bag of rice” EJ chucked while Eddie blushed yet again. 

Taylor lead them to EJ room to drop him off Eddie put him on the bed and ushered them out while Taylor stripped him of his clothes then put him in some pjs and got him settled him then met everyone outside, got them some pjs all of EJs clothes were all over sized for him so she gave them to the others and got them settled into their rooms. She then went back into EJS room and got into some PJs for herself and climbed into bed with EJ, they’ve shared a bed so many times, so it was pretty normal for them. 

Tomorrow was going to be a good day.

Chapter Text

EJ woke up with a dry mouth and Taylor informed his bed at first he thought it was a dream that he’d found a family that wanted and loved him until he turned to his bed side table and saw a not from Taylor ‘It wasn’t a dream they’re real and they do want you’ he’d never felt so happy.

It was 5am so he got of bed and made his way downstairs to make coffee, the beans he used were the best money could buy and EJ didn’t mess around when it came to coffee so he made himself an iced caramel macchiato and a black coffee.

While he was waiting for his shot to stop brewing he ordered everyone in the house a set of clothes he may or may not used his laptop to hack into where they ordered their work uniform/their tac vests from to get their sizes, and stalked their instas to see their styles.

He also ordered an assortment of breakfast food, including Malasadas he figured they’d be a nice treat. He was about to get the butter out of the fridge when he heard someone coming down the stairs then daw Steve. So he brewed another shot of coffee.

“Morning, you’re an early riser too huh? Want coffee? I can do iced, or any of the hot ones or black?” EJ asked with a smile on his face as he put the butter in his black coffee looking at Steve.

“Uh yeah I usually get up and have a coffee then go swim and run, shower then eat breakfast, huh you put butter in your coffee too? But uhm yeah black coffee with butter as long as it grassfed.” Steve was shocked at how similar his sons taste were to his, as he sat at the island.

“What oh yeah it’s good for the brain, n it tastes good, of course it’s grass fed! But yeah that sounds alot like mine except I have iced coffee too with my butter coffee, if you want we can go for a swim n run together we’re can either use the see or the pool personally I prefer the ses it’s kinda freeing sorry that might sound weird but yeah. Uhm yesh we’re about the same height n size so I’ve got some swim shirts that will fit you?” EJ was happy that they had something in common and wondered how much they had in common.

“Yeah? I’d love to and no it’s weird I get it, Danno doesn’t get it but then again Danno don’t swim, do you surf?” Steve said with a smile

“What do you mean he doesn’t swim? He lives on a beautiful island and he’s got kids, hmm I’ll get him into the water especially if he’s gonna move out here, yeah it’s one of the first things me and Taylor learnt hot to swim and surf, she liked to say that I was a fish in my past life because no matter where we went I’d go swimming.” Finishing his black buttered coffee.

“You remember asking us to move out here and was serious about it? I mean god yeah we’d love to and yeah you might have a chance to get Danno in the water you got that man wrapped around your finger already pup, we’ll get him some Malasadas and he’ll do whatever you say” Steve couldn’t believe that not only his son wanted him in his life but wanted them all too and close. He finished his coffee and god was it amazing.

“Yeah of course! I want you guys here how could I not? I’ll tell you what I’ll show you guys the houses once they all get up someone’s coming by at 8 to drop off clothes for everyone and we can view the houses and I think I have an idea for the best ones for everyone, half of the property is mine the other half’s Taylor so you guys will be living on my side. Huh pup? I like it because you’re a seal innit?” EJ said with smile downing the rest of his iced coffee.

They both got out of the seat and EJ lead them to one of the rooms downstairs where he kept all of the swimming accessories, he gave Steve a pair of brand new shorts and lead him to a room where he could change.

Once they were both in their swim shorts, Steve could see some scars on EJs body clearly from the abuse he’d endured as a child; he also saw some of the most beautiful tattoos, some new and some a few years old they were all different and it seemed like he’d gotten one at every country he visited like a little souvenir.

They’d walked out of the back door and towards the beach bypassing the outdoor pool that still had the net of over it and pit the gate to the beach. They’d completed their swim and run along the beach, EJ showed the back gardens of all the houses on his run, all the houses had fences around then around them all the gardens seemed similar to EJs just smaller but not by too much.

They made their way back to the house and used the outdoor shower to get all the salt and sand off them, they walked into the house around 7:40 and saw everyone up and drinking coffee.

They all looked slightly hungover, apart from Renee and Athena, they were all talking amongst themselves clearly waiting for EJ and Steve to come back from wherever they were.

“GOODMORNING LAZY BONES!” EJ bellowed “What the hell! How are you so awake and chipper and not hungover?! You drunk a whole bottle of tequila and cocktails?” Chum groaned “What can I say I can handle my drink and the morning after, plus we just got back from a swim and run and that’s just a cure all you’re more than welcome to do the same” EJ said with smirk

“Swim? Run? Are out of your mind? How long have you been up and who in their right mind goes swim in this early in the morning it’s not even 8 yet! Oh yeah you and you’re butter of a dad” Chimney said as he put his head on the island.

“I mean i love catching early waves before the tourists but I’m hungover so not today!” Kono said. Chin agreed with her while the rest of the group looked at them like they were talking out of their asses. EJ was about to say something when his phone buzzed informing him someone was at the gate.

“Ah the clothes are here, right I need to go get them their at the gate imma just use only of the quads, anyone wanna come? Uhm how about you dad?” EJ said trying it out his Dad called him pup clearly claiming he wanted him.

“Uh yeah wait you have quads next you’re gonna say you have a Jet” Steve was shocked that he called him dad and saw Danny smiling at him it must of been the best thing he’d ever heard.

”Uh uh course I have a jet? Why have a pilot license n not a plane? How do you think we got to places? Someone times we bought plane tickets to places we didn’t wanna leave out jet but most of the time I flew us out” EJ was happy that his dad seemed happy for him calling him dad Then Danno piped up.

“Hey, hey kid you best have a helmet otherwise you can sit your ass down or better yet walk over to the gate since your crazy enough like your dad to run before the sun probably rose, that’s goes for you too Steven! You just got EJ you’re not gonna let him lose you because you didn’t wear a helmet ” Danny was not about to let his new son break any bones.

“Danno, it’s up the street I don’t need a helmet we’ll be fine! God I’ve gone rock climbing without a harness it’s called free climbing” EJ regretted saying that the second it came out of his mouth.

“YOU WHAT?!” Everyone bellowed looking at him, he got another notification on his phone from the guy at the gate and told him he was coming.

“Oh look at that the guy is getting impatient we better go come one dad! Don’t worry Danno we’ll wear helmets don’t need my ass chewed out!” Then he and Steve ran out the door.

“Hmm he listened to you interesting, if you haven’t noticed already but EJ has little regard to his own life he’s getting better a lot better, but he struggles with understanding that he’s wanted” Taylor said as she finished her ice coffee putting her glass into the dishwasher.

“Well he’s gonna feel unwanted for a second again! Wait did he say he’s getting clothes why is he getting clothes?” Danny said kinda curious.

”Oh for you guys, knowing him he hacked into some things found your sizes and styles ordered them for you to wear today since he kinda kidnapped you guys last night.” Taylor said like it was a normal thing.

“If that was a kidnapping I’d happily be kidnapped again I mean that bed god I felt like I was on a cloud !” Renee Lou’s wife said and everyone agreed.

“Hmm once he’s got back with the clothes EJ probs ordered breakfast too so we can eat and then we can go shower and get ready to look at your new houses” Taylor said to them with a smile brewing more coffee knowing EJ had probably only had 1 or 2 this morning.

“Wait he was serious? He wants us to move in and you’re okay with that?” Bobby said cautiously everyone seemed stunned.

“Yeah he messaged me this morning saying he was going to look into all of your tenancy’s and see which ones he needed to break and if necessary he’d buy the building to break it lol so he wanted my okay to do so, and if your owned and we’re paying a mortgage he’d pay it off with his money then you’d be able to sell afterwards.” Taylor said again like they were just buying milk.

“You’re telling us he’d buy multiple properties? Buildings? If he couldn’t get us out of a tenancy agreement, what is he mother Theresa? Is this a cult in all seriousness?!” Eddie exclaimed.

“Aha no it’s not a cult, EJ would do anything for family for a long time it was just me and him and when nana was around he’d spend whatever free time he had taking her to and from the hospital cooking for her, just spending time with her, he loves so hard and so deeply it’s just what he does, another example; we’d gone to Spain for 2 weeks and this guy wouldn’t accept no for an answer so he tried to roofie my drink so EJ being EJ beat the guy within an inch of his life. He’s not a violent man but hurt his family and he’s a warrior, funny enough the manager of the bar was greatful and let us drink for free the rest of the night we left a 10,000 dollar tip for the trouble we caused and we still talk to him” everyone was shocked at what Taylor had just admitted

“Yes everyone sees him as a golden retriever but even the gentlest dog can bite when they’re pushed” Taylor said calmly.

“That sounds like Steve he’s a fierce protector would burn the world to the ground, torture and kill countless people to protect his family but would sit there and comfort you if you were having a bad day” Chin said as a matter of a fact everyone around him seemed to agree.

As predicted EJ and his dad walked in laughing and smiling with the clothes and food it seemed as though they had fun on their ride. He handed everyone 3 packages a box and 2 bags. and Steve set down the food on the table. When Danny saw the Malasadas he gasped and professed his gratitude and love to EJ.

They all finished up and headed to their rooms to get a shower they all looked in their bags to see what their was the little parcel was full of toiletry items including or make up sets that matched their skin tones, grooming kit, hair gel, brushes and combs. Once they were showered they opened the rest of the parceles, they were shocked to see what they’d been given, a Pair or Jordans, a clothing set as well as a new pj set and swim set. EJ had picked their clothes very well and it was exactly what they’d buy if that had thousands of dollars to spare, when they saw the brand of clothing ‘DOLCE & GABBANA’.

It was around 10:30 when everyone was ready.

Athena was wearing a long halter neck poker-dot black and white dress, with a pair of black and white low rise Jordan 1s.

Renee was wearing a yellow floral rumple dress with yellow and white low rises Jordan’s.

Kono was wearing a 2-piece with Cropped striped cotton shirt and Patterned cotton shorts, it was red, blue white with little bits of yellow with a pair of Red, blue and white high rise Jordan 1s.

Malia was wearing a white and baby blue floral skater dress with White and blue low rise Jordan 1s.

Taylor was wearing an orange polo jumpsuit with white paint splashes, and a pair of orange and white low rise Jordan 1s.

Eddie was wearing a light blue polo shirt with a black Crown at the from along with black denim shorts and a pair of Black and Blue High Top Jordan 1s.

Danny was wearing a grey button down with blue chino shorts and a pair of low rise black and grey Jordan 1s.

Chim was wearing a light turquoise polo shirt with a black Crown at the from along with black denim shorts and a pair of Black and Blue High Top Jordan 1s.

Lou was wearing a floral bright yellow and black polo shirt with a pair of plain black with a gold Crown on the left side with a pair of black and yellow high right Jordan 1s.

Chin was wearing a signature Hawaiian  Graphic Printed Shirt with the low sun setting, with a pair of demin black shorts with a pair of navy blue and white high rise Jordan 1s.

Adam was wearing an off polo shirt with gold trimming around the sieves and collar, with a pair of beige demin shorts. With a pair of Gold and white High rise Jordan 1s. 

EJ was wearing a pink Diamond-design silk polo-shirt with tonal DG logo embroidery with a pair of white denim shorts, and Pink and white high rise Jordan 1s. 

Everyone looked amazing everyone was fawning over each other outside and new shoes EJ must of spent at least 20/30.000 just on their clothes and shoes. 

“EJ I’m not going to deny that you have amazing taste in clothes and shoes but you didn’t need to do, this shit is expensive as hell you must of dropped a lot of money on this!” Adam said in awe and shock 

“Well thank you, I’m glad I’m living up to my gay expectations! But seriously it was no bother and honestly I was eyeing up some of the clothes anyways and it was a treat uno if it makes you feel any better I’m friendly with one of the guys who sells shoes so I got a deal so it really was no trouble” EJ said with a smile.

Everyone chuckled at EJ and then followed him down the stairs where he went into his lock box and pulled out several sets of keys. 

They went through all the houses including some on Taylor’s part as she said that EJs family was her family they loved them all and couldn’t pick but EJ and Taylor had been watching their reactions and they determined who’s house was who’s.

When they walked back into EJs house and into the kitchen to get a drink.

Taylor and EJ proceeded to hand of the keys to each of them who looked confused because yes it was the house the fell in love with but didn’t realise they had noticed. He also had picked out a house for Mary and her boyfriend who was called Lou. They’d also picked out a house for Carla and her husband it was one of the smaller ones as they didn’t have kids but he wouldn’t force them to move in but the way the speak about her she’s always around even if she helping Chris.

EJ informed Eddie had have some extra adaptations put in for his son when he found out he has CP all of the house were adapted but he wanted Chris to be able to move freely with no trouble whatsoever so he placed a call to one of his contractors and asked if they would come to the estate and make the adaptations to all the houses that needed them. He made a couple more calls for the decorators that would be coming this week.

“So by the end of the week all the houses will be ready if you want to I’ve got the decorator coming over around 4 if you want to go pick up your kids and get them to let you know what they want done in their rooms and for them to see their new house? And we can have dinner and you’re welcome to stay here again or at your new house or you can go back home after I know the kids have school, Tomorrow and you guys are off still so it’s up to you.” 

“Also I need all of the kids sizes, so I can get them what I got you lot it’s not very fair their parents get treats and the don’t I can look it up but it felt kinda creepy to see what their sizes were and information on them without getting your guys’ permission, invading adults privacy is different than children also sorry for invading your privacy but you needed stuff, also I ordered your sister and her boyfriend some stuff, you said Chris has an Aide right? I’ll look her up and get something too.” EJ finished with a little worry in the voice 

“Oh baby, aren’t you the sweetest thing you have my permission and then have even more of my permission to make their information private so no one can just find it I can give you their sizes and styles if you’re absolutely sure, you know we love you anyways you don’t need to throw money at us not that we’re ungrateful but you seem to be giving and giving you don’t need to okay?” Athena said in the most motherly love way and everyone around her agreeed. 

“Oh no I know but you can ask Taylor if you don’t believe me giving is my love language hell we donated half a billion pound to various charities, we were blessed and it’s only fair to share the love around especially with family, if any one of you had my life can you dent that you’d do the same?” EJ said with a certainty that they would especially spending time with all them and as he expected they all said ‘yes of course’.

He titled his head to say I rest my case so shut up.

He opened up his laptop and went around each person who had kids and got their sizes and they helped him pick out shoes, clothes, PJs and swimsuits from D&G and JORDAN. He’d also gotten Carla a beautiful dress with floral patterns and a pair of white low rise Jordan 1s and a pair of crocs because hey she an aide and the love crocs.

He then told them that the kids needed new wardrobe and got into a massive debate with them so the compromise he’d been talked down from 5000 dollars so he got them all a couple of vouchers for UNIQLO 1500 dollars per kid, which still they thought was too much but he insisted. He was allowed to buy their shoes and they agreed because the liked his taste. 

After finishing looking at the houses and online shopping it was around 1pm and they’d collectively decide that’s they’d leave around 2 to get some lunch and get the kids, they were going to take him to Kames to try it, Taylor had plans with her firefighter so she excused herself gave EJ a kiss on the cheek and left. That’s when Malia said. 

“you guys are really close, if you don’t mind me asking how did you get so close?” She had a feeling but wasn’t too sure 

“Oh no it’s fine we don’t talk about the real reason it too much but uh we met in school as you know, she was in a group home while I was in the Jones’s home, uhm it’d been a really hard week with them I think the dad had broken one of my rib and my collarbone and I’d finally had enough. I knew I’d only get stuck in either a group hike or a worse foster home if I reported it but then I’d lose the one friend I made. So I decided that obviously the easiest option was to uh kill myself, she found my in one of the spots I used to go to be alone I didn’t know she followed me but I guess I was acting kinda weird.” everyone looked at him with tears in their eyes as he continued. 

“It was this building and you could see all of London it was beautiful at the top I figured if I was gonna die might as well do it some beautiful, so I stepped to ledge next minute I’m being dragged back by Taylor who was screaming at me, but uh yeah we made a promise that day that we wouldn’t leave each other and we’d always be there for the other, she’d been thinking about off in her self too so that’s why we made that pact. Funny enough that was the first time I got drunk, but yeah we’re so close because she saved my life and we went through hell and back hand in hand. We never gave up no matter how hard it got we endured and survived our saving grace was Nana Tina. Uh foster families and group homes tend not to feed their ‘borrowed kids’ so nana did she would’ve taken us but it wasn’t allowed due to her age. We spent most nights there the homes didn’t care because they still got their money. When we did have to go back the house we tried to keep ourselves small and invisible hoping it’d make things better, it didn’t make it worse and sometimes we’d be able to get through the week without a new bruise but not always. But uh yeah we saved each others lives” 

“We’d always planned on travelling when we turned 18 so we worked odd jobs and helped nana too and she’s give us money and we’d ask her to keep it because the houses were in the kids would just take it, we didn’t know she’d given us an inheritance or trust fund I don’t know what you call it but yeah, we each other everything that’s why we’re close, it’s why we’ll go to war for one and another no matter the cost I’d give up everything for her and she’d do the same. One thing we’d always been taught was not to trust anyone but yourself but we learnt how to trust each other and how to let others in. She’s my bestfriend, twin because we share a birthday lol, my sister and my family for a very long time it was just me and her, yes we’re a little codependent but live like that for what 7 years and it being all you know. So yeah I’m glad you guys also get on with her because that is a deal breaker. And if I meet a decent man and if he can’t deal with one and Taylor’s relationship he’s gone vice versa” 

EJ finally finished what he was saying and everyone sat in silence unsure of what to say. Until Steve spoke up.

“Can I just say something? I’m so goddamn proud of you both I’m so sorry you had survived for so long and not just be able to live but god am I glad that you did. You both could've turned bitter, cold and distant; instead you thrived, loved life and didn’t let anyone drag you down. Look at you both now you’ve made something of yourselves! You did that no one else and before you say nana gave you the money to do it yes she did, but you both could’ve done anything with that kind of money, you could’ve brought a house in a every country I’m pretty sure and kept exploring instead. You bought schools, hospitals built communities helped families, helped everyone you possibly could.

You endured HELL WEEK for charity and coming from someone who also had gone through it I know that wasn’t nothing, you’ve both took what life threw had to through at you and kept going you didn’t back down. You struggled yes and possibly wanted to give up at times but you didn’t you kept going and that pup, that’s isn’t a survivor that’s a warrior you never gave up; you’ll never give up especially now that you’ve got a whole Ohana in your corner, we’ll be with you and got to war with you, for you and that will always include Taylor because she’s family, that’s what Ohana does for each other” Steve finally finished everyone looked at him knowing he couldn’t out it any better then EJ crashed into him and gave him the biggest hug which Steve immediately reciprocated. 

“Hey what about your Danno huh share the love, god you two making me all emotional and crying, you’re gonna be the death of me aren’t you? And pup? It’s cute like him Steve I like it, I have to admit you dad was right and I’ll take it to my grave that Steven Jack McGarret was right for once, we’re not going anywhere also Taylor’s kinds scary she’s like a hybrid of Steve and Kono so we ain’t letting her go either” Danny said while EJ and Steve brought him into the guy and the other chucked and EJ mumbled something that no one could quite hear. 

“huh what was that pup” Steve asked 

“m not cute, m very deadly I could kill you in over a 1000 different ways some worse than others plus im a full grown man definitely not cute” EJ said with slight annoyance which made everyone laugh and made Steve ruffle his hair. 

“hmm nah not full grown just yet, n you’ll always be our kid, no matter how many times you and Taylor threat to kill us and hide our bodies, you don’t think your dad hasn’t threatened to kill us all at least once except the woman because they’re just scary no even to big bad navy seals!” Danny laughed out and so did everyone else.

They pulled away from each other and they decided to get going early to see the kids especially after hearing a snippet of EJs childhood. They they started walking towards and out the door when Chim said.

“Wait I just realised your both called ‘Jack’. Evan-Jack and Steven Jack, and you’re both McGarretts or will be you’ve just got different surnames!” Chim said like he’d just figured out the Bermuda Triangle. 

This made Danny and Steve pause they’d talked last night about asked if EJ wanted to be a McGarrett, and if Danny could for all adopt him and Steve becoming his legal Father. Then EJ spoke.

“Hmm, yeah I guess you’re right I’ve got a lawyer with all the paperwork waiting apparently Taylor did it all last night, did you know there’s something called adult adoption? But yeah there’s papers for Danno to adopt me and some for Steve to be my legal father and I’d be able to go to what my surname would’ve been. But it’s if and when you guys want to do it which you don’t have to by the way”. EJ saw the way and wanted to reassure them that he’d love to if that why they were worried or let them know he wouldn’t over step where he wasn’t welcome. 

“Oh Pup, of course I’d love you to be a McGarrett, no matter what any paper work says you’re a McGarrett and I’m your dad and Danny is your Danno but yeah we’d be honoured to be legally” Steve said wrapping him in a hug and Danny nodded unable to form words joined. 

“Th-that’s amazing, huh I’m finally home, right now more crying let go get these kids, I’ve got a brother and sister to meet don’t I? And some nieces and nephews or something.” EJ said with tears in his eyes untangling himself leading them to his car, they had to drive the palace so they could get all the kids in. 

They all got into the same cars as yesterday, then sort out what was happening once they got to the palace.

Once they’d arranged where everyone would go they got into their designated car to drive to Steve’s sister house EJ handed his keys over to Steve with great protest from everyone and just laughed and reasoned this would be easier than following a satnav or having someone backseat driving. 

They made their way to Steve’s sister house and yes Steve drove like a maniac especially in a sport car while Danny was hanging in to dear life EJ was laughing. They finally pulled out to the house and the kids, Mary, Carla and Lou came out especially when they saw a strange car outside they suspected this was the surprise they were talking about. as Steve got out of the driver side door everyone else existed their vehicles including EJ.

“So Bro, new car is this the surprise, oh who’s this? New recruit he’s built like a brick house b abit young?” Mary asked while eyeing up this stranger. 

“aha uh no mare no new car it’s actually his, Mary, Carla, Lou, kids this is EJ. He’s my son I didn’t know he existed and then he found me.” Steve and EJ were both clearly nervous and Mary interrupted them both spiralling. 

“Son? You have a son? Wow okay. Uhm. THIS IS AMAZING TELL ME EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU! Wow I can see the resemblance can’t lie though you got the gorgeous blonde genes from but your dads physique, damn you even stand the same! Wait are you. Weirdo like your dad and drink butter in your coffee?” Mary was immediately smitten by him asking him a million questions. 

“uh thank you I think? And uhm yeah I like butter in my coffee it’s good your brain and yes I have a British accent I grew up in England, uhm we can all talk when we eat also I’m not all that young I’m 21 starting to think I should grow out my beard so people realise I’m older than I am because this baby face ain’t helping none.” EJ answered Mary. Then Grace piped up 

“I HAVE A BIG BROTHER?! That’s awesome no longer the eldest wait no there’s too many boys! Dad do you have anymore kids hiding?!” Grace said in all seriousness. 

This made everyone choke out laughter and Steve shock his head and Danny said ‘better fucking not 3kids is enough!’. Then EJ piped up 

“Well Miss Graceface I do have 2 sisters you  know Maddie right she was my sister when I was little before I moved to England and when I moved there I got another sister called Taylor and we share a birthday so she’s like a twin so how’s that? 2 sisters that enough? You’ve got 2 brother and 2 sisters!” EJ offered not knowing how to explain himself to an 8 year old. 

“TWO SISTERS?! BEST DAY EVER!!” Grace screamed

”Huh I guess you don’t want the rest of your surprise then? Any of you kids want your surprise or is that enough?” EJ said in a cheeky tone. 

“WE WANT OUR OTHER SURPRISE!” All of the kids screamed

EJ was there crouched down talking to all the kids and everyone was shocked to how quickly the kids took to him because usually they were funny with new people but they all loved him, especially Chris he loved EJ they asked if they could call him Buck after he told them that what Maddie called him he agreed with no hesitation and said only the kids were allowed, turns out only the boys wanted to call him Buck because of the ‘winter solider’ and the girls liked EJ  better. spoke to Carla, Lou and Mary too before they all pilled into cars then made their way to Kamekonas. 



They got to Kames and everyone ordered EJ was introduced again, with people talking about how similar he and Steve were how they could tell he was a McGarrett, say if he wasn’t Steve’s they’d think they had a secret little brother.

They all finished their lunch together and the kids were in awe of EJ and all wanted es to go in the same car as him but unfortunately he didn’t have a mini-bus although he could get one. They made their way to the estate to show the kids their surprise.

As Grace said it really was going to be the best day ever!

Chapter Text

On the way back to the houses Grace was very curious of her new brother, Danno and Dad sat in the front while EJ sat in back in the middle seat between both kids when Grace asked. 

“EJ can I ask you a question? Wait no a few questions?” Grace asked hesitantly 

“Of course you can I’ll try and answer them if I can” EJ was kind of nervous what would an 8 year old wanna know 

“Why didn’t you stay with daddy? Do you miss England?, are you happy you found Daddy and Danno? What’s your favourite kind of pizza? What’s your favourite fruit? What’s your favourite movie!?” Grace asked with enthusiasm

EJ hesitated at first and seeing Danno give him a slight smile and nod he decided to answer all her questions. 

“Well, Daddy didn’t know I existed so I couldn’t stay with someone who didn’t know I was here, plus someone took me far away from here when I was just a baby, sometimes only because I grew up there a bit like how Danno misses Jersey. Yes I’m very happy I found Daddy and Danno, favourite pizza depends. If I’m sad and wanna feel happy then a classic Hawaii pizza loved it since I was a kid, however if I just want pizza then it’s gotta be pepperoni. Favourite fruit? Uhm peaches, I tried strawberries once and I ended up in the hospital so I’m not allowed to eat him or peanuts. I have a special pen that helps if I accidentally eat them, do you know what an allergy is? Okay good and favourite movie well it’s technically not a movie but it’s on Disney+. Hamilton!! I live and breath for it!” Buck finally finished answering Grace and then she piped up saying 

“What’s Hamilton? Also that’s sad you can’t eat strawberries I like them but I love peaches more so I won’t eat them around you so you don’t get hurt! Can we come to your house and watch Hamilton?” Grace said so sweetly. 

“oh babe you’re the sweetest thing ever! And yes of course we can watch Hamilton I have a cinema room I’ve gotta educate you all maybe we’ll have a movie night if everyone up for it?” 

“You’re allergic to strawberries and peanuts? Any other allergies or medical conditions we need to know about?” Steve asked none of this was in his file so he was comfused and Danny nodded. 

“I know what you’re thinking it’s not in my file, Nana took me to a private doctor and it more than likely didn’t get into it it’s what happens, files get lost etc I need to edit my medical notes and get with a doctor over here still haven’t but uhm yeah only two more. I have a slight heart arrhythmia and asthma neither are bad and I haven’t had an attack in a while but if you go in my glove box there’s an epi ben and pump in there just in case. Only down pour to those to is when I get sick I get really sick body struggles to keep up so usually end up pneumonia and on oxygen, if it’s really severe then on a vent. But I keep myself healthy and I just have to catch in time which is really fu-freaking hard, the average cold turns into a full blown flu and a hospital trip 9/10. Another reason why I wanted to live somewhere hot less chance of getting sick.” EJ confirmed he didn’t really want them to worry but he knew they needed to know just in case. 

“Okay, damn kid you really can catch a break hhm, well when we get back I need you to order some more inhalers and epi pens so we can keep one in our car too and an epi pen on one of us at all times, you taking vitamins and stuff? I know your dad has this disgusting green juice he drinks that helps his immune system hell show you okay?” Danno said as a matter of fact and there was no swaying his decision.

”aha, uhm okay I have some spare in the house I can give you Taylor made me buy a lot after I had an allergic reaction to some cake, let me tell you I think I took 10 years off of her life” EJ laughed 

They pulled into the estate and EJ jumped out of the car and opened the gate for them and let everyone in then jumped back in the car, they pulled up to EJ house and everyone got out. They just looked godsmacked the kids were excited and the other adults were in disbelief. 

“yo-you uh live here huh? When the others said you did well for yourself I didn’t realise how well, Jesus how many houses, who lives here?!” Mary exclaimed, Lou and Carla both nodded 

“Well yes I do really well and all these houses were mine I owned most of them and my partner owns the others, but uh for who lives here. You do, you all do. Surprise?” EJ shrugged.

“WHAT?!” Lou, Carla, Mary and the kids all exclaimed 

“Are you serious me too?” Carla asked sheepishly 

“Yes you too you’re Ohana are you not? Exactly so guys welcome home let me show you you’re houses and then you can pick your rooms etc…” EJ said with a smile 

EJ and all the parents lead them to their new houses and he’s never heard so much joy or laughter in his life it was all going so well until Mary hugged him thanking him and she was wearing a fragrance EJS lungs really didn’t like. 

“It’s okay you’re—*cough* welcome *cough* sorry I need some air, *cough*— *wheeze*, fuck, keep the kids in-*wheeze*— inside” EJ knew what was happening and he didn’t wanna scare the kids so he made his way out of Mary’s house and collapsed on the grass and the front clutching his chest. 

This caused the adults to rush out, leaving c the kids inside with Carla, Mary and Lou.

“Evan! You need to breathe what’s going on?!” Bobby exclaimed. 

“He’s got asthma!! He must of inhaled something that didn’t agree with him, pup I need you to try and slow your breathing where’s your pump? Fuck Kono it’s in his car run and get it! Evan look at me I need you to try and breathe okay your lips are going blue stay with me kid” Steve was trying his hardest to stay calm but he was terrified thank god for grace and her immense amount of questions 

EJ vision was starting to black desperately trying to get oxygen to his lungs it felt like an elephant was sitting on his chest, his eyes started to flutter close and until he felt hand on him and some keeping him sitting up right and something going over his nose and mouth. 

“Come one I need you try breathe EJ come on you know the drill” Malia stepped in and put the rescue kit over his face and started to administer it as soon as EJ eyes started to open. 

Everyone was hoovering around as they say Malia get to work with the help of Eddie and Steve pulling Buck up his lips were so blue and his skin was going deathly pale they thought they were too late.

EJ tried his hardest to follow what Malia was telling him to do but his head was pounding and then all of a sudden.. air! He could breathe he took in a deep breathe and started coughing taking in gaspfull of air. 

“That’s it’s, it EJ 3 more and you’re home free you got this, don’t let my years of medical training go to waste huh?” Malia said trying to show everyone he was getting better. 

EJ finally could hear and feel everything and his eyes opened wider and and he looked at Malia and followed her instructions and felt so much better he shouldn’t have jinxed himself and then he said so. 

“Huh pup what was that?” Steve heard EJ mumbling something. Then he took off the rescue mask.

”I-i ji-jinxed myself *cough,cough* well that really wasn’t fu-fun let’s never do that again.” EJ laughed out his lips turning back to pink with a twinge of blue and his face getting its colour back.

”Fuck, Jesus fucking Christ kid you scared the life out of what caused it? We went through the houses earlier and nothing it didn’t happen until Mary hugged you” Danno said looking at EJ like he wanted to wrap him in bubble wrap.

”It was uh her perfume, usually im fine but some cause a reaction like that not to be awkward or be awful but the clothes I got them came Taylor dropped them off in the house but on aspect of being able to breathe do you recon they’d mind taking a shower and changing into them. Im good now but I’d like to stay that way lol, think I need pizza and Hamilton, the kids uh didn’t see right?” EJ tried to reassure he really did look better just tired.

”Of course you’d worry about the kids even though you nearly died. But no they didn’t see I’m gonna get Chin and Kono to run to your house and get the stuff of course the wouldn’t mine pup you okay get it up? Is he okay now Malia?” Steve asked 

Hen had managed to get her spare paramedic bag out of her car so Malia could asses Buck fully.

“Yes he’s fine now just gonna be a little tired more than likely but yeah pizza and movie sounds like the right remedy” smiled Malia 

“Guys I’m fine honestly, I’m glad the kids liked their new house by the way and we’ve still got the decorator coming in 25 minutes to get details so let’s get going huh, Also you guys can just take the Quads back it’s a lot easier lol” EJ said while her got up wiping himself down while everyone hoovered like he was about keel over then he started walking back toward the house. 

“He’s just shrugging it off like nothing happened what the fuck? And walking nope nuh uh the kid is gonna be the death of my Steven! Evan-Jack you slow your ass down and wait for your Danno!” Danny said while walking furiously to him 

“uh oh he’s gonna get mothered henned” everyone said.

As they made their way back to the house kids in tow EJ had bought the kids some extra clothes anyways and pjs so when everyone got back to EJs the kids all had a shower because they were around Mary and got into their pjs, so did the rest of the adults, everyone was showered and in the new pjs EJ had brought everyone and slippers the kids loved their stuff and gave EJ LOTS and i mean LOTS of hugs and kisses. 

They met with the Decorator and the kids told them what they wanted in their rooms what kind of carpet, what colour their curtain would be and walls. All of the rooms had built in wardrobes and blinds but had cream walls and hard word flooring. 

All of the houses were the same. Hard wood grey flooring, carpeted stairs, marble tiled bathrooms. Including en-suite bathrooms in all the bedrooms, with a standard shower and tub separate. The marble in the bedroom it was grey and white marble tiles floor to ceiling.  

In the master bedrooms the bathrooms are white, gold and grey, there is was a rainfall shower with a luxurious jet bathtub. Plus a guest bathroom downstairs, it was similar to the upstairs bathrooms minus the bath tub.

Mary walked in and apologised and said she’d throw it out because she can’t not hug her nephew and use the one EJ bought her EJ stood up and gave her a hug which made everyone halter their movement waiting for it to happen again. But thank god it did not. 

Once everyone was in the house EJ went ahead and got everyone drinks and wasn’t he supposed to be tired? All the kids had a customised Stanley cup and so did the adults, where the fuck does this stuff come from? Turns out EJ bought them while he was drunk and they turned up with his other delivery. 

Pizza was ordered and delivered a lot of fucking pizza then they followed EJ into the cinema room and it really was what he said it was the settled in the many love seat couches. 

Everyone was with the kids and EJ sat with Eddie and Chris which made a few raise their eye brown but said nothing then EJ spoke. 

“Sadie, turn lights off, switch to cinema mode. Put on Hamilton please” EJ spoke to no one Eddie was about to check him for oxygen deprivation but then ‘Sadie’ did what she? It? Was told. 

They were 40 minutes into the movie and everyone already loved it and it was coming up to EJs favourite part bed been humming and quietly singing along but then it hit 42 minutes in he stood up and started singing.

“that is by fair my favourite song of all time no doubt.. why’s everyone staring at me, and I know my pitch was perfect, it’d be a crime against humanity to butch that song.” EJ announced

”Brah, your lungs were barely working just over an hour ago, you lips were blue, now you’re, you’re singing! Like nothing happened and no your pitch was perfect that’s the problem you should be exhausted and not be able to sing like a goddamn angel. Your body should be too tired to even sing half as good as you just did. We’re just, in shock.”Chin said in disbelief

“You McGarretts are built different I swear to god!! John your grandfather when he was alive would get hurt on a call or just in general and say it’s just a scratch, no it wasn’t a scratch his bone was sticking out.

Steve gets beaten, shot at and or stabbed then walks it off like someone just flicked him instead, no he’s usually bleeding out until one of us grabs his ass to the hospital! You lot are loco! THREE GENERATIONS OF MCGARRETTS and each one is crazier than the last!!” Chin was so over the McGarretts crazy ness! This made everyone full on belly laugh 

“ʻAʻole mākou pupule, ʻae ua aneane wau e make, akā ke ola nei au a makemake wau e apo i kēlā ma mua o ka hana ʻana i kekahi mea ʻē aʻe. As you can see my brain still works Chin, I’m okay don’t worry about me!” EJ said with a smirk 

“damn keiki! You pronunciation is amazing!Kono said 

With that everyone settled back down and watched the movie. 

Chapter Text

After the movie night a few weeks ago the families have all been spending time with EJ, he’d given them tours of his different companies and opened up more about his life and his struggles, things had been going amazing. 

All of the families were moved in Taylor and Lucy were going steady he’d never seen her so happy. EJ and Eddie were also getting close and it seemed like they were finally going to go somewhere with this, Eddie was always at EJs house and they hung out every chance they got with or without Chris, taking him out on days out.

They were having their weekly lunch at the firehouse that EJ and Taylor had been invited to when EJ got a phone call, he pulled his phone out of his pocket and apologised it was from a number he didn’t recognise so he answered it.

“Hello EJ speaking… oh hey man what’s up where you calling me from?— What? No im at the fire house, yes I’ve got company—— uh give me a second” EJ said into the phone then looked at Bobby

”kid go use my office” Bobby smiled and everyone had already stopped eating and was watching EJ

”you sure? Un thanks—yes I’m still here just give me a second man.” With that Ej stood up and walked into the office on the phone. He was pacing the office and it seemed like the conversation was getting heated so Danny asked’

”Taylor do you know who he’s talking to?” She shook her head and was about to ask Eddie when they saw EJ hung up the phone walk out the office into the loft then he threw his phone over the railing which it smashed onto the floor. Causing everyone to jump they’d never seen him like this. He walked over to the table with a blank expression.

”EJ what’s going on who was that?” Taylor asked as she stood up the rest of the table following suit, she was concerned about her bestfriend she’d never seen him like this. He walked over to her and pulled her into a hug. 

“I’m sorry Taylor but I gotta break our promise.. this time you can’t be there for me and I can’t be there for you, just know I love you okay?” With that he pulled away reluctantly.

“Wh-what do you mean, Evan talk to me.” Taylor was on the verge of tears the rest of the table looking very concerned. As EJ went around the table muttering apologies giving everyone a quick hug they tried to hold on and get him to talk to him then he got to his dads. 

EJ pulled out his car keys and gave them to his dad then said “look after her I don’t know if I’ll be back for her, thank you both for everything I love you” giving both of them the biggest hug. Steve tried to get him to talk one more time. 

“Pup, please talk to me, whatever it is we can help you okay? Please Evan talk to one of us” he was holding bucks face with tears in his eyes he didn’t understand why his son was saying goodbye, he’s only had EJ in his life for a couple of weeks he couldn’t lose him. 

EJ pulled away and walked over to Eddie giving him the biggest hug pulling away a bit to bring him into a kiss. 

“Damn I should’ve done that sooner, I’m sorry I know we both wanted this but i don’t think it’s gonna happen” 

“Cariño talk to me okay? Whats going on and this is happening okay if you can’t tell me I will wait for you okay, because im stupidly in love with you.” Eddie said while cradling bucks face they were both crying now 

“I’m stupidly in love with you too but I can’t ask you to wait if I don’t know if I’m coming back—“ EJ was interrupted by a car frantically honking its horn, he pulled away and ran down the stairs they all rushed behind him and watched EJ jump into a black SUV that drove off in such a hurry with EJ in the back. 

“What the fuck just happened?! Where is he going who the fuck was that?!” Danny was crying and full of concern and anger they couldn’t even follow because the car had drove off with such speed the all stood their looking broken. 

“He never breaks promises he’s never broke one before. What am I going to do without him I don’t know how to be without him” Taylor said while bawling, Lucy was trying to comfort her she knew and understood that EJ and Taylor came together always no matter what so this shocked her.

~2 Months Later~

The next 2 months they spent looking for EJ calling in favours but they had no luck what so ever it’s been 11 weeks since they saw him or heard from him they were sitting in EJ living room when Steve got a call. 

“Mcgarrett” Steve answered 

“Hey dad, long time huh?” EJ croaked out his sounded completely exhausted and sad

”Pup? Is that really you?” Everyone turned their heads so quickly and told him to put it on speaker. 

“Uh yeah it’s me, heard you’re putting in alot of effort into finding me, you can stop now okay?” Everyone heard how tired and drained he sounded.

“What do you mean i can stop? We’re not gonna stop Evan-Jack until your home.” Steve said as a matter of fact.

“Dad, you’re not listening to me, stop looking for me okay you don’t need to anymore everything’s fine I have to go okay I’ll be in contact soon, tell everyone I love them also get some sleep okay you’re all gonna need it trust me” EJ said to his dad 

“EJ what do you mean we need sleep you’re not making sense, tell me where you are please. I’ll come get you no questions asked.” Steve tried pleading with his son 

“Dad you guys all said I’d always be able to count on you is that still the same? Can I count on you?” EJ asked sounding cautious 

“yes that’s not even a question—“ Steve was interrupted by EJ 

“Good because I’m gonna need you soon okay? It’s not done no where near done so I’m gonna need your help okay so please just trust me, someone will be in contact with 5.0, HPD, SWAT and the firehouses tomorrow okay? Just trust me I love you all I have to go” EJ said hanging up the phone.

”What just happened?” Bobby asked 

“I don’t know and I don’t care all that matters is that he’s alive and he needs us tomorrow, he sounds completely exhausted and if he needs that amount of back up then it had to be bad. I need you all to bring extra vigilante let’s all get some sleep huh?” Steve said and off they all went to bed apart from Bobby and Danny who went to the kitchen to cook for EJ for when he comes home. 

The next day everyone got up as normal and made their way into work awaiting the calm they’d been told to expect. All their regular equipment had been doubled and triple checked, it didn’t take long for the call to come in, they’d all been told to go to a warehouse, no lights or sirens regular clear and to just walk in.

Each company started arriving and they all went into the warehouse where they were met with 7 people dressed in black, all looking exhausted with overgrown beards and hair, there was 6 men and one woman. Steve recognised most of them there was 3 he didn’t but no EJ. Once everyone had arrived a bald black man spoke. 

“I know you’re all wondering why you’re here and we’ll get to that in due time, but firstly let me introduce myself I’m Daniel ’Hondo’ Harrellson, everyone calls me Hondo leader of 20 David LA Swat. These 3 to the left of me are my colleagues, David ‘Deacon’ Kay, Chris Alonso and Jim Street. To my right side we have NCIS LA division, Sam Hanna and G Callen. Lastly we have Goldens partner Nick Taylor ‘Bullfrog’ former Navy SEAL. Golden will be here soon he just has to deal with something then he will—“ he was interrupted by doors swinging open and 2 gun shots. 

The first and second bullet hit Nick, Hondo was screaming at everyone to stand down, it was EJ ‘Golden’ he kept walking toward Nick then he pistol whipped him when his knees buckled he booted his knees, the brought his fist to punch his face and body over and over again. No one stopped him they all stood and stared when he stopped he grabbed Nick by the hair and said. 

“How much, how much was your teams life worth to you? Huh how much money did you make selling us out? Putting 2 of SWATS guys in the hospital?! HOW MUCH WERE THE LIVES OF 47 CHILDREN WORTH TO YOU?!” EJ screamed he heard Nick mutter someone and didn’t hear him so he kneed him in the chest and brought his head back up hands still gripping his hair 

“what’s that? Come on speak up Bullfrog, don’t be a little bitch, talk! That’s all you’re good at anyways!” EJ shouted in his face 

“2–*cough* cough* mi-million, I deserved it so what there was a few ca-causalities that’s the co-*wheeze*cost of war” Nick breathed out.

”The cost of war? THE COST OF FUCKING WAR?! THEY WERE CHILDREN! They did nothing to you! I would’ve tripled that you son of a fucking bitch” EJ cocked his gun and pointed it at his head. 

“If Tan and Luca die their blood is on your hands, you’re not even worth the fucking bullet ‘ he pistol whipped him again knocking him out’ get him out of my fucking face” EJ said to the 2 men standing the door way that no one noticed before they walked over and dragged him out. 

EJ took a couple of deep breaths and then turned and looked at everyone and said. “Sorry not sorry about that, if anyone else is on the take speak now or you’ll suffer like good old Nick, don’t bother lying with because I will find out I always do. No one? Huh good I’ve got someone checking now so it’s your last chance. Ah here they are now” EJ said answering his phone. 

“Yh go for Golden, mmhmm, okay.. you sure? Nope that’s it thanks.” EJ ended the phone and looked at everyone and smiled 

“Good news none of you are disgustingly slimy bastards well done for the bare minimum, anyways moving on I’m Evan-Jack, EJ or as you’ve already heard Golden. Yes I’m young don’t wanna hear it, I’ve had more training than you’ve lot had hit dinners, I’m not boasting of gloating im informing I have an IQ of over 180 if you have anymore questions I’ll give you my file I don’t have time for it right now.

Let’s get straight to business huh? So ask you can tell things have gone to shit simple way of putting it, a simple case that the LA swat and NCIS team were covering ended up with a member of their team being taken, which meant I was called to go help get them back, we got them and they’re okay they’re here right now. Moving on it was a human trafficking case turned international, Nick fed info to the traffickers which caused our raid to go wrong and cost the lives of 47 children, the ones who survived are either in the ICU or in the critical condition. 

The traffickers rigged the containers to explode injuring two of our guys, there’s still over 300 children and we’ve located them, they’re in the island being held at the base of operations. Before you ask how did you not know, they only moved their operation out here 2 weeks ago when we go in we’ll go in hot and fast, we’ve lost the element of surprise because of Nick but on the plus side they can’t risk blowing up the site because it hold all their properties so they’re gonna shoot their way out, protecting their Cargo, we need to keep them distracted and away from the children. They will fight like hell to keep us away, but we have to fight harder there are no rules in this if there was it’s ‘kill or be killed” Ej said letting the sink in when he knew everyone comprehended what was going on he continued 

“So in 45 hours we’ll be going there and we need help, I need help there’s only so much we can do, i need advice suggestions we’ve got a rough plan but this is your island it’s only been my home for a little over a year, you all know your people and what they’re capable of I need your best okay? I know we’re asking a lot but I refuse to lose anymore kids so we’re asking for your help this isn’t an obligation this is voluntary, because it is kind of a suicide mission you will all be paid though so please don’t worry about that and if you lose your life in the line of duty your family will be taken care of. I don’t mean to be blunt but you need to understand the gravity of the situation, the medics will be on standby ready for everyone, anyone who has medical experience will be asked to stay back because we will need you.

They medics will be protected by another team our priority is the kids and medics we save and keep them safe, so we can go home, if you don’t think you can handle this please walk away now because once your in you’re in there’s no back out or walking away. I promise to do my damn hardest to make sure you go home, I’ll leave you all to discuss amongst yourself while I make some calls thank you.” with that he left the room to let them talk 

Everyone was stunned in silence, when the leader of HPD SWAT asked. 

“You all seem older and more experienced why is he leading and not any of you? Hes just a kid and also seems like a hot head did you see what he did to that man and you want him to lead?” 

“Golden as he said before has more advance training and intelligence than us all, we all were somehow personally invested so we needed a mutual party, he’s good at what he does the only reason any of us made it out alive was because of him the reason he treated Nick like that was because of him we all nearly lost out lives so did 80 children. Golden had endured so much these past few months including torture to get our guys home, yes torture in order to get them home one of us had be captured and it was him.

He was tortured for for 9 days, 9 brutal days to ensure the lives of people he’d never even met so do not for one second question his loyalty or ability that man will lay down his life for anyone. He was smart enough to call for help when he knew we needed it and he said you’re the best. He said there isn’t another place he’d rather be if he’d had the option the fighting alongside you. We wanted to order the governor to make you do it because we need help but he said and I quote ‘no it has to be their choice they will be basically walking into a war zone that they might not leave, they also have families and children of their own to get home to, we can’t force them to fight without taking into consideration what they could lose and their families’. So even though we’re desperate and could get it ordered that you help us he refused and wanted you to decide, that’s the kind of man he is that’s the kind of leader he is.” Hondo finally finished. Then G spoke up. 

“Being one of people he saved I owe that ‘kid’ everything and then some but there’s no one else I’d trust to lead us not even anyone on our team now, Golden thinks outside the box he thinks of things that would never seem to work but do, he bounces ideas off of everyone he doesn’t bare the weight on his own but damn does he take a lot. So if any of you are doubting him because he seems young or hot headed get the fuck out now or I’ll get his dad to fuck you up, another thing he didn’t mention his name is Evan-Jack Daniel McGarrett, the son of Commander Steven McGarrett and the grandson of late John McGarrett.” When G finished everyone turned and looked at 5.0 and Steve and then Steve decided to speak up. 

“He’s not wrong, he is my son, and I’m not saying this because he’s my son but, I wish I could disagree so he didn’t have to do this but I’ve been through his file I’ve seen what his body and brain can do and I trust him so does my team so we’re in without a shadow of a doubt, I also believe the 118 are ready and willing to stand by.” Steve said smiling at his team and the 118. Then Athena Grant spoke. 

“That boy is the most loyal person I know and if he says he’ll do his damn hardest to keep us alive and we can save those kids than me and my people are willing and ready so is Duke, also so are Lou’s detective, EJ tells us when and where and we’ll be there. That man has gone through hell to protect you so well be right here with him when he goes back because that’s that Ohana does, and we’re all one big Ohana!”

When Athena finished all the other member volunteered themselves and their men only a few people stepped away due to their age and abilities and decided to help with the medics. 

EJ walked back in and asked. 

“So how’d we do how many are you staying and remember we won’t be offended if you leave we understand.” 

“Pup, everyone’s staying, you asked if you could count on us and you csn and always will you tell us how we can help and we’re there.” Steve smiled 

“Wow, really? Huh either you guys are angels or completely and utterly crazy but either works for me at this point.” EJ said which caused everyone to laugh he continued.

“So the plan Is to have my guys team with 5.0 and take the lead. Then have swat next and any of the members of HPD that have military training, everyone has a partner there is no choice or debate, you keep your partner safe and alive, if you have an extra number then you’ll got into a 3. For example in the 5.0 funny enough they’ve got 5 members so Detective Williams and Commander McGarrett will partner as usual, Lou, Kelly, Kalakaua will stay together, is that clear?” EJ was about to continue when Danny spoke up. 

“Uhm Golden? Nope sorry that won’t work for me EJ, I’m counting and your team has an odd number who will you partner with or join.” 

“Danno I’m the exception not the rule, I just shot and beat my old partner within an inch of his life I’ll be okay.” EJ tried to reason but Danny was having none of it.

”Nope sorry not happening, you’ll partner with McGarrett, I’m not taking no as an answer. Firstly, none of us will be able to forgive ourselves if you don’t have someone watching your back. If you think your dad’s gonna let you go without one you got another thing coming kid. Secondly I can partner with Lou there I’ve said my peace go back to leading.” Danny said finishing his rant, waving him off. EJ just laughed at this

“I don’t have a choice do I? Alright fine, but let’s stick to either EJ or Golden for me so it doesn’t get confusing okay? You can address us as McGarretts when and if you need us but separately he’s McGarrett or Commander and I’m Golden or EJ, clear? Good.” Once EJ finished Hanna spoke up. 

“To answer your guys’ next question we call him Golden after a Golden Retriever because all retriever are full of energy, extremely loyal and are the kindest dogs plus he has blonde hair but don’t mistake his kindness for a weakness because all dogs can bite, also Steve you owe me a dinner! The fact I had to fly all the way out of here and kidnap your kid isn’t right man!” Hanna finished with a smile causing everyone to laugh.

EJ went on explaining and discussing the plan once they finished. EJ and his team thanked them all then told them they were all off until they were called in. Then told them to meet back here in 36 hours giving them enough time to get ready properly. He dismissed them all. He waited for everyone to leave then smiled at his family and asked. 

“Miss Me? I missed you guys, you lot get your stuff together you can stay at mine I’ve got more than enough space and we can get some food in or something huh? Wait for my outside and I’ll show you where to go.” EJ said indicating he needed privacy, once they left he turned to his Ohana waiting for someone to say something.

Then it was Eddie who said the first thing to him. 

“You leave like that again and I’ll kill you myself, god I’m so glad you’re alive are you okay? They said you was tortured where the hell were you?” Eddie said pulling him into and fierce hug which EJ responded to immediately hugging back tightly.

Then he realised what he said. 

“They what? Fucking loud mouths, I told them it wasn’t a big deal and not to mention it, im gonna kill them. But yeah im okay sore but okay, im just kinda surprised i was expecting a punch and a little bit of hate.” EJ pulled away and and looked very confused at them.

”Hate you? Why would we hate you kid, we’re a little upset I won’t deny that but we’re more relieved that you’re alive.” Bobby said which every time seemed to agree with.

“Do I really need to go there? Oh okay I do, I disagree, I was gone for what 11weeks? Almost 3 months with no contact or an explanation then you watched me beat the life out of Nick. Dad especially you, you should be a little mad at me I know you guys served together you guys should hate me why don’t you hate me? This doesnt make any sense” EJ started to spiral and was pulled out of when Steve grabbed him then pulled him into a hug. 

“Pup you did what you needed to do and I’m not mad I’m proud of you, you knew we were watching but you didn’t hold back you completed your mission to keep your guys safe, and I’m sorry about Nick okay I’m sorry about the other guys too and what you went through, we’re here now and we’ll be there to help you okay?” Steve said holding his son.

”God you’re gonna make me cry and we don’t have time for me to have a meltdown I’m saving for that for after, because I know I’m gonna break but I can’t right now in 3 days I can break. I’ve made it 11 weeks I can make it another 3days and I’m not avoiding it I just don’t think I’ll be able to to put myself back together in time. So let’s go because I need a fucking shave and shower and need to feed those animals. I have no idea how I flew out here this hungry or tired but hey ho.” EJ said pulling away then they started walking out the building.

Eddie had his arm around EJs shoulders Bobby told him to go home with EJ while they went back to their stations to get their cars, Eddie rode in with Bobby, Hen and Chim today so he didn’t need to worry while Athena came in her own car with Lou, they all tend to car pool it just makes more sense since they all live on the same street and go in the same direction. 

EJ jumped into the SUV that had G and Hanna in, Hanna in the passenger seat and G in the back where Eddie jumped in while EJ drove them back to his house with SWAT following. 

Once they finally pulled into the estate and into EJs drive way they all the same expressions anyone did when they say his house. They all got out of their cars and EJ grabbed the parcels that were in his car with the help of Hanna, G and Eddie then he lead them inside and their jaws dropped even lower theN Chris asked.

“EJ I know you said that you’re uhm comfortable but how rich are you?! Because this house and estate looks expensive as hell!” The rest of them nodded agreeing with her which caused Eddie and EJ to smile then he explained. 

“I’m quite rich we’re talking billons, also I own the estate and house well co own the estate technically with Taylor, if you’ve heard of EJT that’s mine and Taylor’s company so yeah very comfortable there’s enough rooms for you guys there’s an en-suite in each room come on I’ll show you.” EJ admitted rubbing the back of his neck.

EJ lead them up to the elevator taking them to their rooms. He gave them each a few packages that contained some clothes, pjs, shoes and slippers he’d ordered it as soon as he got onto the island and picked it up on his way to the warehouse. When they had a good look he showed them the rest of the house quickly which they just stayed silent the whole way through.

Once he’d finished the tour he also showed them his room and he didn’t think their mouth could open anymore, his bedroom was at the top of the house 3rd floor their were also 3 more bedroom upstairs he’d always said if he had kids he wanted them on the same floor as him while they were young then if they decided he’d turn any of the guest bedrooms into theirs. 

He lead them back to the rooms so and showed them the Gunsafes that were built into each room had that built in after he met his dad he left them alone so they could shower and change, then he and Eddie went to his room. 

“Now we’re alone how are you really? You know you can tell me anything right mi amor, I’m here for you okay and Chris misses you like crazy.” Eddie said with no hesitation.

”Yeah I think I’m okay at the moment but I will break there’s no question, wait you still want me ever after everything I did? And you’ll still let me see Chris?” EJ said with his eyes full of hope

The next 36 hours came and went quickly, EJ showed them all what they was going to do. The plan was set in stone, was it a good plan? Nope, was it the only one they had yes. 

Once they got to the the rendezvous point, EJ lead everyone into the warehouse and god it was like they walked into Steve’s heaven.

There was various tables full of various weapons and ammo, there was new tactical gear for each member; they were all black in colour, Level IIIA soft body armor, hard armor plates, tactical plate carriers, ballistic helmets, comabt trousers, combat boots, gloves, goggles and several holsters. Each uniform was customised to hold whatever the person who was wearing it preferences weapon or equipment. For example; Steve’s uniform had grenade holders, holsters for tac knives, while Lou’s her holsters and clips ready for his shot gun. 

EJ had requested everyone go to the gun range so they could be on the top form. There was also different weapons that not everyone was used to, so he needed to make sure everyone was comfortable using the equipment. Like a grenade launcher, new assault rifles, machine guns etc.

Everyone got their gear and got changed into their tacs, got fully geared up and was ready and awaiting their orders. If they wasn’t about to fight for their lives and for the children he’d admit everyone looked really good. All the equipment, gear and clothes set EJ back a couple million, the best money could buy he used his own personal fund. Everyone was going to get paid 20,000 dollars each just for this because like he said it was insane and reckless. EJ decided it was time to tell them.

”Hey everyone, firstly wanna say you all look good very scary, this is going to be the fight of our lives, a couple of surveillance cams have picked up movement and by the looks of it they’ve brought more people obviously Taylor informed them of of our plans. You will all be paid 20,000 dollars each at the end of this, get to keep your tac gear and guns obviously only the ones necessary for your jobs. So dad that means you can’t have the grenade launcher, well not unless it’s very warranted and I mean you’ve gotta jump through some hoops.” When EJ finished speaking Kono spoke up. 

“Well can I just say I’m glad you said it and we didn’t have to hear Danny berating him, also 20,000 dollars each? There’s 100 members going in and 50 medics, that’s alot of money EJ that’s like-“ Kono was interrupted by EJ 

“3 million dollars yeah I know, I’ve spent about 10 million in the past couple days just on this, it was from my personal account not business so not to worry. I think to go forward we need full transparency I got permission from my partner, me and Taylor are the owners and founder of EJT I know a couple of you already suspected I mean a random guy moves to the island shit loads of money get thrown around and then this is formed? They all made their way to the scene, once they arrived the got into position, snipers on roofs medics clear back officers protecting them. After everyone was in position there was about 60 people going in, they were at the front of the gates of the compound armed ro the teeth with assault rifles and machine guns. Steve was holding the grenade launcher at the door then EJ said. 

“Blow it!” 

The scene exploded into chaos the second Steve blew up the doors, the he kept firing the launcher towards the back of people and EJ and others were firing at the ones infront. The snipers were taking out the ones who were hiding, the gun fire was endless. 

Fire, empty, reload and repeat. There was so much shouting of the comms it was hard, EJ had already been hit in the vest twice others being clipped by bullets. But they were getting closer and closer to the goal. The children. 

EJ told them the beginning would be easy and they needed distractions, so both EJ team and 5.0 took out the drug warehouses they were the only ones wearing masks to stop exposure. 

The warehouses were blowing up and like planned the attack went towards them, while a team snuck in to the kids. 50 people to get to the kids, 10 people to take the brunt of the attack with the help of snipers.

It was brutal and relentless, bodies were dropping every where, the team that was sent to get the kids had an escape plan for them, they were going to blow a whole in the back of the warehouse while the other kept them distracted long enough to get the kids out. Once the kids were out and secure all bets were off. Those who lived would be arrested and imprisoned for life, those who died would be forgotten and buried in a mass grave. 

“The packages are secure, I repeat the packages are secure.” 

About 80 percent of the traffickers were down or dead they were winning, with only minor injuries. The kids and the other team were out and safe, it was clear that they figured out that the children had been taken all their drugs destroyed, they had nothing to lose and weren’t going to prison.

The explosives came out. 

“FALL BACK! FALL BACK!” EJ bellowed over the comms 

“Is that wasn’t i think it is?!” Danny questions 

“Fall back, RPG incoming.” EJ screamed 

He saw street was distracted by a fight between a trafficker he couldn’t move or leave. So EJ did what he always does, saved him. He nodded at Hondo and off they went

“EJ! NO!” Steve screamed over the comms 

It was too late EJ and Hondo were already gone he was sprinting towards street, EJ tackled the trafficker that was on top of him,  while Hondo dragged street away. EJ smashed the man’s face into the floor and scrambled to get up, he got away but not fast enough, he was knocked by the blast, it didn’t matter the others were safe. 

He couldn’t tell how much time had passed only that he was in a world of hurt, crushed by rubble, the world was spinning, his ears ringing. He could distinctively hear the sound of gunfire dying, all he could hope was that everyone got out okay. He was buried he’d die before anyone found him, it was okay, the payments had already been sent will signed. It wasn’t until he heard something the restores all of his faith. 

“Golden do you read me? EJ speak up pup, give us something.” His dad begged, he tried to get his baring and reached for his spare radio.

He told everyone to bring an extra in an indestructible case for this exact reason. His coms were broken he could receive but not send, his leg was definitely crushed his body was covered but he could move, laying on his back he reached into his pocket to turn on the radio and send.

“Thank god kid, yiu scared the death out of us we’re coming okay, all the traffickers are down or dead. All 300 children are accounted for and alive. Just hold on okay, the 118 is coming.” Danny told him 

“EJ, how we doing kid need to know what we’re looking at, what injuries so you have apart from the legs.” He heard Bobby over the comms now, then he heard them moving around above him. 

“mmm n-not doing gre-at, cr-ush injury left l-eg, ‘roken ‘ibs, con-cussion mmm kinda n-numb n c-cold. M tired, so ‘ire’s.” Buck replied he could hear swearing at the other end and Eddie ordering people around. 

“We need more hands in here! He hasn’t got long guys without medical attention. Everyone get a hand in and remove the debris carefully, we don’t want it caving on top of him!” Bobby told all the guys going straight into captain mode.

”How long?” Hondo asked 

“Minutes. He’s a fighter but you can only fight so long.” When bobby said that everyone moved at such a careful and precise speed.

They'd finally gotten a visual, Buck was there on his back eyes barely open talking over the radio to Athena about why Hamilton was better than Greece, she knew it’d piss him off he hated the film. Finally they removed all the debris from the top of his body and could get to him safely. 

“Hey mi vida, how you doing?” Eddie was the first to Buck getting his vitals, while Hen started running lines on him. 

“mm, Ed’s, ti-red, ‘thena is a mo-nster, th-thinks, gre-eve is g-good. Mm g-ay I kn-know m-my mu-sicals.” EJ wheezed out. 

Everyone could see how hard he was trying to hold and the immense amount of energy it was taking to stay awake. They’d gotten his body free and his right leg but his left leg was crushed, it was trapped and they couldn’t lift off the debris slowly. Bobby decided the were going to get an air bag to get it all off at once and drag out Evan. 

“Cariño, this is gonna hurt a lot, as soon as we’ve got this lifted up we’re gonna drag you okay? It’s gonna hurt a lot, scream as loud as you need okay. I’m sorry.” Eddie told him kissing the top of his head, Buck just nodded too tired to talk.

The air bags were in position, Buck was wearing a neck brace and oxygen mask. Eddie and Steve were either side of him waiting for bobbys command.

”Okay here we go, left side up-right side up! We’re clear! Get him out of there!” Bobby ordered 

EJ screamed as he felt the bags lift the weight off he didn’t stop screaming, even when they dragged him free. Once they got him free they placed him onto a back board and he finally passed out. Bobby, Eddie, Steve, Danny and hondo carried him out hen and chin following closely watching his vitals. He crashed as soon as they got him on the gurney. 

“No pulse! Moving to start compressions—administering epi, come on kid come back to us— charging— clear— no change continuing compressions—another round of epi administered—charging— clear—pulse is back, get him on the bus!” Chin and Hen were talking between each other working hard to get EJs heart started again, ignoring the world around them. 

Once EJs heart started again the rushed around to get him in the back do the ambulance. Eddie and Bobby in the front, Chimney and Hen in the back working on him to keep him alive. They drove off with a police escort. 

Steve, Danny, Athena and Hondo rushed to their vehicles to give them an escort clearing the whole way to the hospital, Street was on his Bike swerving in and out of traffick moving them out of their way. Street got to the hospital a full minute before anyone else and screamed for the doctors to get ready. 

When they got to the hospital the got EJ out of the back of the ambulance chim was doing compressions again, Eddie took over and it took 2 more round to get him back again. They were stood in the front of the hospital reception in silence, would EJ make it? Or was it too late? 

The waiting room was full of their Ohana,  police officers, swat member all still geared up waiting to hear news on EJ. They all knew it was bad, no one knew if he’d be able to keep his leg or not but it wasn’t looking good. A doctor entered and asked Taylor if she could talk to her in private but she refused saying she would tell them anyways they were all family. 

“Mr McGarrett is alive, he has endured multiple broken ribs, internal bleeding, lots of bruises bothered external and internal, we’ve had to remove his spleen. He also fractured his left wrist but in a few weeks he’ll be fine, all the injuries he will recover from.” She paused letting it sink in then she continued 

“However he had suffered an immense amount of damage to his left leg, we have three options. We can repair the damage with rods, plates and screws but he’ll be in pain for the rest of his life, difficulty walking or standing for extended periods of time, we may need to go in again too, he’s also at risk for pulmonary embolisms, the risk to his life is severe he may not survive the length of surgery itself. It’s a long hard surgery on especially on someone who had suffered multiple traumas, along with multiple cardiac arrests due to internal bleeding.” She let option one sink in before moving to option two 

“Preferably and in our medical opinions we suggest removing the leg, it’s the safer option and would improve his quality of life, it still holds risks as all surgeries do. Such as; infection, phantom pain, blood clots and pain and tenderness to the stump but it would improve his quality of life, he’d be able to stand and walk with no trouble after rehab.We will fit him with a prosthetic once he’s healed and rehab to learn how to walk again.” Again she left the next option sink in. 

“Or we can make him comfortable and you can say your goodbyes ” The doctor finished what she was saying 

“If-if you remove his leg, would he still be able to swim, run, climb he loves being out and is a very active person. He needs to be able to move will he be able to get back to that eventually?” Taylor asked, she knew what she implying but she knew EJ and what he would want.

”Yes with time and rehab he’d be able to go back to his normal activities, he’d be given special prost-“ the doctor was interrupted by Taylor. 

“I need to talk to the other do we have a few minutes?” 

“Yes of course.” With that the doctor left and Taylor immediately started speaking. 

“I want them to remove the leg, it’ll be safer and better for him. But I need to know if you all agree, if anyone has a problem with it please speak up now.” Everyone looked at each other and then at Taylor, they didn’t say a word. 

“Okay, then we remove it. I’ll get builders in this week to make his house more accessible. He’ll be okay, EJ’s strong, he’s got us and we’ll help him.” Taylor said like she was trying to convince herself. 

“Of course he will, he’s got enough family to go around, good thing we all live so close huh?” Danny said trying to lighten the situation. 

The doctor came back and Taylor gave them their decision, she told them he’d receive an amputation just below the knee. Off she went to hack off EJ’s leg.

As soon as she left Taylor fell to floor crying, Lucy immediately went to her holding her in the floor comforting her. 

“I j-just told them t-to cut off, his leg, I t-told them t-to ta-ke it. G-god I ho-hope he for-forgives me. Even I-if he d-doesn’t as lo-ng as he survives I ca-n li-live with that.” Taylor cried out 

“Oh baby, if the roles were reversed and EJ took your leg to save your life, would you hate him?” Lucy asked

”That’s a stupid question of course i wouldn’t, I know he’d weigh the optio— oh but still he might—“ Taylor was interrupted by Steve this time 

“You know EJ said you to come together, that’s the way it is no matter what, he told us how you saved each other went through hell together I don’t think there’s anything in this world that would break you two. You’d both fight the devil himself to save the other. He’ll be okay it just means we need to get used to watching lots and lots of musicals. Since Athena decided to start that debate.” Steve laughed out causing everyone else to laugh and groan. 

It’d been a few hours since they gave their decision, then they saw the doctor come back with a smile on her face. 

“He made it through surgery flawlessly, the cut was clean and it went smoothly. He’s going to be okay, once he’s recovered he’ll be referred to a specialist. You can go in to see him in about an hour or so, he’s being moved from the recovery room to his private room and a few people are more than welcome to stay with him, immediate family. He’ll be in the hospital for about 2 more days I’ve been told that he’s got many medical professionals living with or around him, also being a McGarrett means not only are they strong and stubborn but they hate hospitals.” When she finished what she was saying they were all laughing 

“Thank you so much, we never even got your name, I don’t think I’ve seen you before.” Steve said 

“Ah you wouldn’t have I’m here on holiday with my wife, bestfriend his wife and our daughter when I got a call, asking for help from the governor of Hawaii, must say I was shocked. Someone in the hospital found out I was here and told him as I’m a world renowned orthopaedic surgeon. My best friends wife also consulted on his case she’s a world renowned neurosurgeon and cleared him, her name is Dr Lexie Grey.

My best friend is also a world renowned Plastic surgeon so he came to help make sure he didn’t have any awful scars, he also treated the scars on his chest and back. My name is Dr Calliope ‘Callie’ Torres his name is Dr Mark Sloan. We were more than happy to help, when we heard what you guys accomplished. My wife is Dr Arizona Robbins is also a world renowned paediatric surgeon so she’s been in helping the kids with Sloan too. It’s been an honour to help in anyway we can.” Callie told them.

”Also my wife tells me you’ve got lots and lots of pictures and thank you cards, EJ has lots of get well cards too.” With that she left. 

Torres, Sloan, Greg and Robbins had been helping all the kids, other officers and swat members who had been hurt along side the kids, thus been given special privileges and were helping everyone.

An hour passed and they were lead to EJ’s room they saw his condition; his leg was elevated and bandage, he had a few bruises to his face and his left wrist was in a splint, chest had leads on it while his ribs were wrapped in bandages.

For someone who died twice he looked okay a bit pale but okay. He was still receiving a blood transfusion and was hooked up to an iv and pain meds. 

Eddie, Steve, Danny, Chin, Kono, Lou, Bobby, Athena, Maddie, Chimney, Hen, Taylor, Lucy, Street, Chris, Deacon, Hondo, G and Hanna all settled into the massive room were they breaking a few rules yes but the doctors and nurses let it happen. About 20 minutes later EJ woke up.

”Mm fuck.. yep definitely alive” as the first thing EJ said 

“Yeah pup, you’re alive, here take this. How u feeling.” Steve said feeding him some ice chips. 

“Mm like I was crushed by a building, hmm they took the leg, what else they take?” EJ said taking all of his injuries 

“You’re spleen. You’ve got a fracture in your wrist some internal bruising, broken ribs and sternum from CPR but you’re gonna be okay. Once you’ve healed, got fitted with a prosthetic and done rehabs you’ll be able to get back to your crazy stunts.” Danny said to EJ his voice slightly sad. 

“Okay, how long until I can get out here then. Did you tell them I live on an estate with an insane amount of medical professionals?” EJ asked and everyone looked at him with wild eyes. 

“WHAT?!” they all exclaimed 

“What do you mean what? I don’t like hospitals if rather heal at home.” EJ said back. 

“Kid they just told you, that they cut off your leg and all you’re bothered about is getting home?” Hanna said 

“Oh, no it’s fine, I kinda figured it would be taken. Keeping it would be hell and if they left it I would’ve told them to come back and cut the damn thing off, it’s the logical thing to do. Don’t get me wrong I’m not happy to lose it but I’m relieved I’m not gonna be suffering for the rest of my life now that would be worse than death if chose death over that. So I guess I should be thanking you guys, I know ultimately the decision came down to Taylor but she would’ve consulted you lot. Also I’m not saying I’m not gonna be mad about it some days but I know it was the right decision no matter how hard it was to make, so I’m thankful. Plus of course I wanna get home the fuck i need to stay here for, what you think I’m keeping you lot around for this was my plan all along. Got my own team of medical professionals at my beck and call.” EJ laughed out they were all looking at him expression not changed.

”Fuck you’re just like you’re dad, absolute nutter the pair of you! This is not normal! You crazy fucking crazy!” Hanna exclaimed causing EJ to laugh harder and everyone else finally snapped out of it and joined. 

“Hmm yeah maybe, but would you have me any other way? No didn’t think so, now Athena bring your beautiful self over her, dad go away I need to educate you. Clearly you haven’t watched enough musicals to know a masterpiece Greece is not a musical is a disgrace.” 

“I called it! Hey pup what about High School Musical I heard Danno say that must count.” Steve said causing EJ to send Athena away. 

“Athena well get back to this later, Danno needs saving, not educating but saving. I have hope for you but him, he might be a lost cause. Come here Danno can’t have you embarrassing me now can i? Like seriously your gay did the taste category not get included in your pack?” EJ asked and they all laughed.

”Steven is going to kill you. EJ don’t start I don’t need educating also it does count it’s in the name!” Danny protested.

”God, I can feel my heart failing, you lot poor man. I’ll pray for you, I don’t even think the all mighty can save you though.” EJ said clutching his chest dramatically. 

They all laughed and jokes all night SWAT and NCIS said they good byes they were going back him they missed their families. EJ was back with his Taylor offered to fly them back home with some reluctance they accepted and Lucy went with them. Taylor gave EJ a kiss to his cheek and thanked him for not hating her. 

“I could never hate you, even if it was you hacking off my leg in a basement because you’ve decided that you wanted to sell my body parts, I mean I’d offer money first but I’d never hate you.” Ej joked and gave her a hug. 

They all left and the rest of the 118 and 5.0 were in the room with him they were talking and joking aping until EJ fell asleep. 

He was going to be okay, he was home and family had his back.

This was my first ever publish, I love the story idea but I’ve decided to rewrites it. Not sure if I want to keep it how it was but it needs redoing, I’m going to keep the same idea but will change a few things.
