After being resurrected, Lord Voldemort completes a magically-binding blood-adoption ritual on Harry Potter as a way to circumvent the protections Lily placed over the boy.

There were several people, both men and women, in white robes that were in and out of his room in the following days. All of them attempted to engage with Harry in some shape or form, but he ignored them. Harry stayed under the bed, only venturing out a couple of times a day when no one was around to use the bathroom and gulp down water from the sink. He did not trust the food and drink left for him beside the bed, though it smelt heavenly. As the days wore on, he continued to weaken.
