Instead, something that no religion ever seemed to get right.Once a person dies, they arrive at Tycho. Then, their brain, consciousness, being is split into its true parts. These parts are sorted, parting with the pieces they used to share a brain with, then carved into a new person's brain, recycled, merged with parts of other humans to create something wholly new.
On occasion, a humans' brain will split before death. It's not common in any way, but it's not unheard of. Oftentimes, it causes no issue; the brain is just already split before returning to the afterlife. In many cases, the human has no clue it even happened.
But what happens when two of these people meet?

After a series of unfortunate events causes her to question her faith, an angel tries to seek her purpose elsewhere, and ends up stranded in the Midnight Federation on a harsh, wintry night, unable to fly. After collapsing from the cold and her own blood loss, she is taken in by a wolf beastkin and his human mate, who offer to tend to her injuries, much to her surprise. And while under their care, the angel witnesses for herself the negative effects her people's war has had on the non-humans' country, and decides for herself what she should truly be fighting for, discovering love and sexual freedom along the way. This is a story of gaining perspective, overcoming fear and repression, and taking control of one's fate.
This story contains wartime hostility, kink discovery, and consensual sex between multiple participants, one of whom is essentially a humanoid wolf. There is no bestiality in this story, by my definition, and I'm unsure how to define some of the non-human aspects properly, so I just wanted to forewarn you if such things are not your preference.

She had truly reached her breaking point, and she shuddered to think what would've happened to her without the Thieves. Awakening to her Persona had cleared her head, but being clear just made it easier to see the monsters at the bottom of the lake.
