Erik has been alone since so long in his solitary and uncertain journey that he didn't even remembered how it felt like to be cared of.
He had his hidden demons and worked so hard to became the person he is today, wanting to erase "this" past, but he just couldn't as one past is part of who they are.
So he masked it all, pretending for years that "it" is not a part of him.
Erik eventually met the Luminary as foretold by the Seer, and even if he wanted to preserve "that" secret only he knew, little by little he will start to trust him and their companions.
But will he end up trusting them compeletly ?
Will "trust" be enough for him to speak his own voice and stop hiding behind his mask ?
After all, there is one thing he learned the hard way : nothing good ever lasts forever...

His mission is complicated by the fact that the Luminary turns out to be nothing like the untouchable figure of legend, and more like someone Erik could find himself following...
Jasper knows what it is like to lose himself to despair, but even at his lowest point, he knows better than to fall for the false promises whispered into his ear. Yet after the Fall of Dundrasil, Jasper cannot help but notice the changes in the king he'd sworn himself to so many years ago, and finds himself torn between duty to his king and duty to his people.
(Or, what if Mordegon approached Erik before his journey began, and what if Jasper never agreed to be Mordegon’s right hand man?)

“It is. I am the Luminary's shield, his sword, his unswerving companion. It is my duty to protect him. Therefore, I... there is someone else I vowed to stand by... I wish to honor my promise. Someone very important I failed... I want to save him, to prevent him from being consumed by the darkness... I want to do it for him.”
“We won't change your mind, right? Then... Then farewell, Hendrik... or rather good bye. And good luck.”
“...Thank you.”
He lifted the sword and, without thinking twice, he smashed the orb before him. He was going back to the day it all started. -
