Morvran Voorhis, first-ranked prince of Nilfgaard, has been sent to Kaer Morhen on a diplomatic mission. His tasks are twofold: first, negotiate a nonaggression treaty between the wild barbarian Warlord of the North and the Nilfgaardian Empire. And second, ingratiate himself with the mysterious Warlord’s daughter and heir apparent, Princess Cirilla.
Sir Cahir Mawr Dyffryn aep Ceallach, a Vicovaran knight, has been assigned to protect young Prince Voorhis on this mission. Prince Voorhis may be the best of a bad lot, but Cahir’s still not looking forward to the threats or the temperature of a winter in the distant North.
They both know their mission is a dangerous one. But they don’t know where the true danger lies…and while they know how to navigate Nilfgaard’s treacherous court, they are not prepared for Kaer Morhen. This is a mission they might not survive…and if they do, they might be changed beyond all recognition.

Summary
Jaskier is a half succubus, half naiad abomination, the only of his kind that he or anyone else knows of. Due to the cruelty of humans, he’s bound to serve Aedirn royalty. They send him on a mission to kill a witcher: Geralt the White Wolf whose school is funded by Kaedwen royalty, as is common in this universe. He’s being rewarded for being a particularly successful pet monster-slayer with a banquet in his honor and a night with a beautiful songbird. Nothing goes according to plan and the two end up more or less (unhappily) stuck with each other in the midst of a potential war.
This is not a fluffy love story and Geralt and Jaskier are both a bit of a dick.
Note about rape/non-con tag: There is a lot of extremely dubious consent in this one pertaining to the fact Jaskier is a succubus with charming abilities. Although he doesn’t exactly force anyone to sleep with him, he charms partners into not noticing what he is, telling him their desires, and then forgetting about him. And once they bond, they will slowly kill their bond-mate with their total control. They are monsters, but none are so monstrous as the Alpha who bends his back for another. For an Alpha bonding with an Alpha is a crime against the gods, and an Alpha gone feral due to Alpha rejection will simply kill other Alphas for the pleasure it brings them.”
