It's been four years since the truth was revealed.
After a large serving of therapy for all involved, the gang's lives had mostly returned back to normal. Well, all except for Sunny and Basil. Once Sunny realized his feelings for Basil were too strong to hide anymore, he cut contact with him all together. Omori has become Sunny's new mentor, teaching him how to be a productive member of society, much to Sunny's chagrin. Can Omori be the guide Sunny needs to come back to Basil? (The answer is "most likely".)

Aubrey and Kel are sleeping soundly next to the two. Aubrey is beside Sunny, resting her head on his shoulder as she peacefully sleeps, while Kel is beside Basil, snoring loudly, though the snores don’t bother the other three as much, since he’s sleeping on a bed while the other three sleep in a pillow fort, creating a fair distance between him and the others.
Basil’s face burns red for all the wrong reasons. His eyes flicker between Sunny’s own black eyes, and Aubrey’s figure, sleeping soundly next to Sunny, cuddling him innocently, completely unaware while the boy caresses Basil’s thigh. The blond smiles nervously. “...Sunny?” He whispers, leaning slightly closer in order not to wake Kel and Aubrey up.

It was Basil himself that rejected Sunny's confession, not because he didn't love him back, but because they wouldn't have been good for each other, there was too much baggage between them, too much shared trauma, it wouldn't have work.
Basil couldn't blame them, he was the one that rejected him, so he didn't have the right to resent Sunny for moving on, for falling in love with someone else.
His therapist had wholeheartedly agreed with him and praised his decision.
He did the right thing.
But it still hurt so much to know it could have been him by his side.
