Summary
Following the disappearance of the Infection from Hallownest, a routine patrol brings Hornet to Hallownest's Crown — where she is assailed by a trio of unknown bugs with sinister intentions. Kidnapped and brought far above the tunnels of Hallownest, she soon finds herself stranded in a world of perpetual light and open sky, far from the dark and subterranean home she has always known.
Meanwhile, the kingdoms of Bugaria grow restless, with reports of a powerful cult becoming active on their borders. As Kabbu, Leif, and Vi set out to investigate, they find themselves wrapped in a conflict that may threaten the hard-fought peace of all the four kingdoms. It was the story sure to become a legend or be put to play one day. For Bugaria came the time of peace, cooperation, and development. The time to get some well-deserved rest.
Or... so they thought. As bellow Bugarians, almost right beneath their feet, an ancient kingdom was roused from its slumber. The soothing serenade of mind-rendering gale has stopped, and the stagnant carcass of the lands once called Hallownest was once more open to the world. But be warry a traveler who sets foot there, as with riches, mysteries, and legends of the devastated kingdom to you might come its traps, tragedies, and horrors.
A new adventure beckons, but first, Bugaria has to greet some new guests.

Pheromone assault is considered a serious crime in Bugaria and with good reason: pheromones can cause even the nicest of bugs to lose all sense of self and personality, and become utterly subservient to the whims of the one controlling them, even if it means attacking their friends and loved ones with the intent to grievously harm or even kill. And then there is the chance of causing one afflicted with pheromones to become uncontrollably... aroused.
When Kabbu is forced to fight Vi and Leif over a broken vase and his pre-Awakening mating drive is unintentionally triggered, the beetle finds himself struggling to cope. Burdened by guilt, past trauma, a crushing secret, and a love he feels he cannot share, Kabbu can only see himself spiralling downwards. If only he knew that his hidden affections were being reciprocated with just as much secrecy, by someone who has no idea how to deal with such feelings. If only both could get past their denial and their guilt. And yet Team Snakemouth have faced many challenges together before and their bonds have remained resolute. They will not allow this to be any different.
