Merida was not going to be married off, that's why she shot those arrows. No, Merida was not going to be married to someone she doesn’t even know. Merida didn’t want marriage, with anyone for a fact. So she did what any sensible lad would do in her situation. Run away with her horse, Angus. Merida did not take anything with her, she could survive well on her own. No, she was independent, she didn’t need anyone.
While cooking the fish she caught in a river, she heard rustling in the bushes. Merida would play this off as an animal, if it wasn’t for the voices. She quickly stood up and nocked her bow with an arrow. “Step out.” She demanded. Luckily they obliged. Not so lucky, they were her suitors. Young McGuffin, Wee DingWall and Young Macintosh.

A year after the showdown at Mr. Black's facility, all seems well: Elsa and Merida are happy together and Anna and Kristoff have graduated. Peaceful times, however, hardly last. When an attempt is made on Kristoff's life and Merida returns from a job in a bad state, the group is thrown into a whirlwind of new tribulations.
