Summary

Chad just needed a performance credit to pass his dance class. The problem was he didn’t want to dance in front of people, so his teacher came up with a compromise: perform in the school’s production of Cats under a fake name and no one would know who he was. Great. Amazing. And then Ben had to start throwing around all this ‘mate’ business.

Look, Chad wasn’t the smoothest guy in the world. He pretended to be, but when faced with a pretty girl that wanted to kiss him, he just sort of panicked. Cue Mal, of all people, helping him build his confidence so Evie could get the prince she deserved. Chad’s not sure what she gets out of the exchange exactly, but he’s not complaining.

It wasn’t that Gil necessarily wanted to travel Auradon without Harry and Uma, it was just that he hadn’t tested well enough to get into Auradon Prep. So he hit the road with Jay while trying to catch up on his schooling, except King Ben also wanted them to be ambassadors?
It was a lot, and Gil didn’t like being separated from his crew, but at least this new version of Jay was nice, and so were the rest of his friends for some reason. But hey, that was just Auradon, right? Obviously. There was no need to look into the non-stop video chats and surprise visits and overwhelming support when their adventures took an unexpected turn. That was just basic good-guy stuff. It was all fine.

When Mal and Jay manage to get so lost they end up in Wonderland, Jay had the bright idea to take advantage of their misfortune by sneaking out one of the chaos land’s fabled magic mushrooms as a gift to Evie. For reasons that do not need to be discussed, they realize there’s only one way to sneak the fungus out – and surprise of all surprises, the thing gets stuck in Mal. Curse her very life.
Also, they manage to find Chad dipshit Charming in Wonderland too, dragging him along for their preposterously sexy ride while they try to cater to the whims of enchanted foliage. It works out better than it probably should.

So maybe Gil was having some trouble adapting to Auradon Prep, but that was okay. He still had Uma, still had Harry, even if he was busy dating two royals. Gil was pretty sure it made Uma mad, not that she’d say it, so of course he tried to think of a way to make his Captain feel better. And what was better than homemade food? He didn’t think much about using the pretty green mushrooms he’d found growing at the Enchanted Lake, but apparently he should have. It wasn’t like he’d meant to enchant Uma, but together, they could handle everything, even Harry in his worst moods.
Also known as: That time Gil spelled Uma to only speak the truth, which ended with him getting a girlfriend and Harry getting confused, and then maybe a bit jealous. It all works out in the end, though.

Mal didn’t like Auradon, but when it all but threw allies into her lap, who was she to ignore them? Chad and Doug might not seem like the biggest prizes in the world, but as far as pets went, they were pretty okay. Decent at supplying information, and Chad was kind of funny, she guessed.
And maybe, just *maybe* Mal was getting a little too attached to them, but the sex was good and their dedication unwavering and if she had to be in this shitty place anyway, she may as well get some benefits.

So maybe Jay didn’t make the best choices. But to be fair, Chad had gone along with things. He was the one that had been loud enough to have an opportunistic eavesdropper catch just the wrong part of their exchange to cause a major scandal. Long story short, now Ben and Mal have to date Chad, and Jay has to… uselessly ruminate in the feelings he obviously doesn’t have, because everything is obviously fine. He just really wished the rest of his friends would figure that out.

Or at least, he did, but when dressing up pretty failed to cut it anymore, he took more drastic measures, using Fairy Godmother’s wand to completely change into a girl instead of just dressing up like one. Doug might have some insecurities that keep him from being intimate with Evie, but that doesn’t stop their relationship from thriving. At least, that was what he’d thought, but then she mentioned wanting to open their relationship to some of the people she’d dated before. Which wasn’t that big a deal, it was just Jane and Carlos. Doug could handle Jane and Carlos, even if they weren’t really in it for him.
