Life in Sumeru is pretty easy to understand. Either you're from the rainforest, with access to better education, opportunities, and standard of living. Or you're from the desert, in which case you're a second-class citizen who doesn't get all that.
Shahla Gurabani belongs to the latter group. An Eremite mercenary and devout worshipper of King Deshret, Shahla's people have had everything taken from them, even their god. In return, everything Shahla has are the things she has clawed back from the world. Through story and song she records her peoples' history, and through mercenary work she carves out a living for herself. And through bloody work in the desert sands, she protects what little is left of the physical evidence of her legacy.

Well, I suppose making a Genshin OC was inevitable. Everyone meet Shahla, an Eremite mercenary with *several* chips on her shoulder. This is going to be a bit of an analysis of/meditation on Sumeru's desert culture and apartheid society prior to Nahida's overhaul, and will meander a bit between different scenes and setpieces as I write them. Expect canon characters to show up!

After the conclusion of the latest Mandalorian civil war, more and more and more Mandalorians can be seen travelling to and from Coruscant, which is the heart of the Republic, which is in turn still only quite loosely allied with the new regime in Mandalore space. The Senate’s answer to this potential threat is to have a spy go undercover among the Mandalorians living in their known community on Coruscant, and insists that there is no better spy than a Jedi.
The Shadow Council chooses Feemor for this task, and the asignee chooses to consult about this very, very, very dangerous mission with one of the two known Jedi – the one that he can stand, truth be told – who have recently braved Mandalore space, namely Obi-Wan Kenobi.
It doesn’t stop just there, though.
Well, it’s all in the name of duty, right?

He’d strung orange-yellow beads low around his neck and grown his orange-brown hair long, which he kept tucked behind his ears to avoid concealing any part of his thin, pretty face.
Solomon greeted him and watched his eyes narrow and lips curl, twisting his thin, pretty face into something with the look of a friendly smile.
