Poseidon wants to gouge Telemachus's eyes as revenge for what Odysseus did to his own son. Just as the saying goes; a son for a son, an eye for an eye. But things are always better with audience. Right?

Summary
When the club smashed down Polites’ head - Odysseus’ world was diminished to ashes.
How could he go on without his husband, his light? What would prevent him from resorting to ruthlessness and vanquishing any foe he would encounter instead of treating them with kindness like his beloved did?
He calls to his longtime mentor Athena in desperation, begging her to find a balm that will alleviate his anguish, yet the nature of the gods prevails, and she refuses to intervene in the natural order of events.
That's when Odysseus - ever cunning and insightful - decides to threaten suicide in front of his patron goddess, seeing no other way to continue his life without the other half of his soul, and hoping to persuade her to submission.
The flashing-eyed goddess is caught with a wave of empathy foreign to her, and she agrees to help her prized mentee - but divine intervention comes with a price, and this one’s is particularly cruel -
Forgetfulness. -

Apollo grinned. With a burst of golden light, he descended just close enough to make himself known.
“Hello there!” he called cheerfully.
The sailor startled so violently that Apollo had to stifle a laugh.

Other gods had their favorites. They interfered, they meddled, they bestowed their favor without hesitation.
Why should Apollo be any different?
••••••
Or, Apollo and Eurylochus meet, which changes things.

Summary
“You are reckless, sentimental at best-that's not a teaching of mine.” Athena sighed. “Maybe if I taught him empathy, this reunion between husband and wife would have happened before the pain of the suitors, before the deaths of the last of his crew, before the drowning of over 500 souls. Maybe I truly led him astray.”
“You did lead him astray- but that’s in the past. It’s useless to ruminate on it” A voice said behind her. “You lead him astray, Athena- but we can get him back, together.”
Or
Polites doesn't hate anyone- not really. He's a lover of peace and of people, of empathy and of healing. But if he had to chose one person, he knew exactly who it would be: Athena. She was the one being in the realms he wouldn't embrace with open arms, but with a cold glare, biting his tongue so hard to keep from committing blasphemy- and for good reason. Even those with hearts of gold have their limits, and Athena crossed it countless times.
But there is nothing Polites would not do for his beloving Ody, one who suffered so much- one who needed help getting back on track, to realize he is not a monster and never truly was. If he has to help the Goddess he dislikes most, so be it.

Summary
The underworld looks terrifying.
That was your first thought, when the ship began its way into the land of the dead. Your second was about how uncanny the faint screams, whispers, and cries of the souls were. You could hear particularly pained souls from the fields of punishment — momentarily, you thought, if that were the place that awaited you once you died, with what you've done in this lifetime.
You gulped.

Summary
Hermes was always known as a god whose speed was unmatched against others. They also knew of his wealth and trickery. What some of them did not know is that he had a certain place in his soul for a certain child. It was a fascination of sorts, one that he tried to deny to himself all of the time. He was always telling himself and others that it was merely entertainment, and that is what both he and others believed.
OR
Basically a flirtationship which VERY slowly becomes a romantic relationship between reader and Hermes.

Polites. First soldier under Odysseus’ command to die. First sturdy soul to get cast down into the house of Hades after the war.
And yet, he was not the first innocent to die because of that man, though the innocence of the first was disputed by the other five souls lost.
But he would still more than gladly take his belief of forgiveness past his grave. -
