She stood further back than the others, Oz hovering fretfully by her shoulder, with her bow held in a loose grip by her side. With her other hand, she pressed firmly to her abdomen, just above her right hip, and her parlour was pale. Paler than natural, paler than he'd ever seen her.
Her gaze flickered up to them, then back down to her hand. She removed it from her side, carefully, hesitantly, and it came away slicked with an unmistakable red. Blood.
It dawned on him in that instant. The bullet may have missed Bennett, but it hadn't missed Fischl.
Diluc, Kaeya, Bennett and Fischl all team up to investigate a domain with suspicious Fatui activity. Not all of them make it out unscathed.

Summary
Genius Invokation TCG. It was a fun new card game that Diluc had the absolute pleasure of hosting for the losers that couldn't play at Cat's Tail. It was all Kaeya's fault - like most things are.
Diluc sighed as he watched them play and they weren’t even playing it right. Like they had tossed all the rules in the air. It’s just a game. But still, couldn’t they at least try to play it correctly? They had made up their own rules and ideas and everything. It was annoying.
Oh well, at least the day was almost over.“Master Diluc! You’re fighting Kaeya right now!” the kids said with a smile.
“Diluc uses a phoenix wing flame attack one million!” the kid said, slamming the card onto the table.It's just a game. It's just a game.

Summary
If Diluc looked at this painting any longer, he was going to lose his shit.
He needs to let this go before it festers, infects his heart and leaves him aching, sore, and broken again. He's burnt his heart out many times, yet flesh still threatens to grow from the ashes that stain his organs.
Or, Diluc's lack of self care finally catches up to him.

Whumptober 2023 - Day 6 (Late)
Prompt chosen: "It should've been me."
-Diluc sat in the corner of his bedroom, still covered in blood, shaking as he stared at the wood. He didn't want to move. Images of what happened flashed through his mind and made him feel sick.
He had to tell Kaeya.
Sure, he would be mad, but he would understand in the end, wouldn't he? If Diluc explained why he did it, Kaeya would understand. He had to understand.
The thought was naïve. He could never understand.
"I am disowning you." Kaeya seethed, knuckles white as he gripped his sword.
Diluc pushed himself to his shaky legs, eyes wide in disbelief. He thought his brother would comfort him and hold him close as he cried, but instead, he was bleeding, crying, and being driven out of Mondstat because of him.

In an alternative universe where, instead of Kaeya telling Diluc about his past, Diluc tells Kaeya that he had to mercy-kill Crepus. In a fit of rage, Kaeya disowns him and kicks him out of Mondstat. 6 years later, Diluc returns and guilt Kaeya had pushed down for all that time he was gone begins to resurface.

Summary
Sumeru was dangerous. Far more dangerous than Mondstat or Liyue, even worse than Inazuma. The Ruin machines were different. They had certain things about them that made Diluc feel sick to his stomach. They were eerily similar to a certain drake he had faced years ago on his birthday.
Diluc’s mouth went dry seeing the machine activate. Then its mechanical wings opened, powering up fully. The machine rose into the air and stared down at Diluc.
Ursa is dead. Ursa is dead.
He tried to tell himself that it was just a ruin machine. He really did try.

Diona despised Diluc. She absolutely hated him with every fiber of her being. He was the devil in her eyes
But when Draff forgets to pick her up from the Cat's Tail at night while it's pouring rain, Diluc offers to let her stay with him in Angel's Share for the night so she isn't stuck outside in the rain all night. Diona reluctantly agrees and learns that the man she has been relentlessly hating for years isn't as evil as she thought he was.

It’s almost 9 o’clock and it’s still pouring rain.” She mumbled. The head maid opened the door and gasped, dropping her cup. Kaeya rushed over and his eyes widened.
Diluc was standing there, covered head to toe in blood, eyes blown wide. Kaeya’s heart dropped.

Diluc returns after 4 years. He has to get acclimated back into society, but finds it difficult. Especially with becoming the Dark Knight Hero and having more trauma than he had when he left.

Whumptober 2023- Day 4 (Late)
Prompt chosen: Shock-
Diluc had been there for months. He was exhausted and just wanted to go home, but Dottore decided he was the perfect subject to test his new technology on.
The redhead immediately collapsed to the ground, coughing and gasping as the mechanism around his neck squeezed tightly. His whole body shook as the shock from it continued hitting him in waves. All he could do was writhe on the ground in pain, gasping and crying out in pain
"My, my. That's very effective. It would be best if you got Capitano; he would have a field day with this technology. Is that all it can do?"
Diluc couldn't breathe. His whole body ached.
"You didn't like that, did you?" Dottore asked, as if Diluc was a small child.
He wanted to go home.

Dottore, being the cruel man that he is, makes a shock collar to control Diluc. Even when Diluc is released and the collar is removed, it still manages to affect him in ways that are out of his control.

Kaeya walked into the Dawn Winery, predicting Adelinde coming up and bowing, being all polite before telling him, “The young master is upstairs in the master bedroom.” And he would hop up the stairs, skipping a step each time, before walking down the hall. Everytime he paused in front of the door, taking a deep breath. Then he would open the door to see Diluc.

Ch 2 blinked in surprise.
"I know that it’s close, and those- those Fatui- fucks could know that! They- They could take you! If you're across country lines, unless we know for sure, we can't search their bases or risk any of our men going undercover!” Kaeya snapped and stuttered like he did when he was nervous or scared. Diluc frowned slightly, going around the counter and sitting next to him.
A sigh left him, and he looked at him, "Even if I do get kidnapped, I'll make it back, one way or another, for your birthday. I've missed it for the past… what? 2 years since I've been back? I need to be here to celebrate it." Diluc said, nudging his arm with his elbow. "We can go to Starsnatch Cliff and paint. Like how Father did for your birthday one year."
Cj 11 Let's leave him be for now. I'll— I'll talk to him in a bit," Kaeya said before walking out and going to his room. Kaeya released a breath he didn't know he was holding, running his hand through his hair. He knew he had to check in on his brother but didn't want to. He needed a break. Instead, he went into his room and shut the door behind him, sitting against it. His knees were pulled up to his chest, and he refused to get up again. Guilt ate away at him, and he wanted to cry as he realized he wasn't scared for Diluc.
He was scared of him.

“March 1st, 1063,” Diluc answered without missing a beat. Kaeya’s arms dropped to his side, and his skin grew increasingly pale.
“That’s—that’s not possible.”
“Why?” Kaeya remained silent. Diluc took a shaky step forward. “Why, Kaeya?” The look in that crystalline eye almost scared Diluc. He’s not sure why, but something told him he really didn’t want to know the answer to that question.
“Because father died on April 30th, 1058. He’s been dead for almost five years.”
*****Two versions of Diluc end up in each others' worlds. One where Crepus never died, and one that we know all too well.
The harsh reality of what could have been may be too much for them to handle.-
