It doesn’t take long before he realizes Percival has a lot to learn.

Arthur finds out Merlin has magic. He also finds out how often Merlin risked his life for him and so, he does the only thing he can think of to protect him: banishment.
Hurt and angry, Merlin leaves and swears to not look back.
But, when two years pass and Morgana shows up at Merlin’s door, urging him to fill Gaius’ position as Court Physician, Merlin agrees. He really doesn’t know why, but Arthur is sure Merlin would do just about anything to get on his nerves.
Unprepared for the shock of seeing Merlin back in the castle, Arthur is forced to speed along his plans to lift the ban on magic. But between stubborn councilors, a mysterious plague, a still angry Merlin, and Morgana being Morgana, Arthur is fairly certain he’ll lose his mind before the first year of his reign even ends.

Not meeting the criteria to join up he became a doctor for the soldiers with injuries severe enough to be sent home with little hope—the stately home he inherited from his late uncle Gaius serving as a hospital. It’s here he meets a grievously wounded Arthur Pendragon whose scars are not all physical. As Arthur heals bit by bit in both mind and body, learning to walk on his prosthetic leg and all the frustration that comes with it, Merlin sees the good, the bad, and the downright ugly sides of him. Despite this—or perhaps because of it—they grow closer.

The problem he never saw coming is that people at the club get reckless when he’s on duty. For some reason, knowing that there’s a bona fide medical doctor stalking the halls means that people think that this is their best chance to go nuts. Merlin likes that they feel safe enough under his watch to test their boundaries, but there’s also a part of him that hates it. He’s here to get away from work, not to have more of it, goddamnit.
