Dean thought that he had drawn the short end of the stick when he and Sam had decided to divide and conquer. That the lead he was chasing down in the ass end of nowhere South Dakota was nothing more than an urban legend, or the result of a gas leak or something in the water. It wasn’t like there were any bodies dropping. Not even a mysterious disappearance. Only vague rumors of a forest where people reported seeing the dead.
Horseshit, Dean had thought.
Now, he’s not so sure.
Because there is no denying that the man standing in front of Dean is the spitting image of his father. His dead father. John Winchester.

Summary
Sam's psychic powers are back, and Eve Baird is the only one who knows. Sam is spiraling when she forces her way onto a case with him, Dean, and Cas to keep an eye on the freaking-out younger Winchester. But the case ends up being a lot more dangerous than it would've first appeared, and reveals a lot more about Sam than Eve expected.
This is the seventh in a series! Probably won't make much sense if you haven't read the previous.

Cas moved forward, a thoughtful look graced his features and he stood in front of Dean, intoxicatingly close, but not close enough for Dean to find a reason to take a step back. The storm raged inside him, every inch of him begged to run his mouth along his body, to leave hot trails fire on his skin. But Dean was afraid to burn them both, he shied away from the fire because he was afraid of the searing heat.
Cas seemed to notice Dean’s shifting feet and the flash of desperation before glancing away, tugging at his collar to redirect the heat. He tilted his head again, eyes raking up and down Dean’s body, making him feel utterly naked.
“Do you need personal space?” Cas breathed, but seemed unwilling to move back. Infact, their proximity was like a magnet, drawing each other in until there was no space left between them.
“Don't give me space,” Dean gasped, all rational thoughts he once had seemed irrelevant now. “Space is the last thing I need from you.” -

Summary
Words don't always carry the same meaning when translated into another language. The same goes for Enochian, and the words Sam screams in the throes of his flashbacks detail anguish and pain and the hopeless begging brought on by repeated violation.

“De—eaa,” Sam forces out, his tongue burning at the unfamiliar word, a horrible fear setting deep within him like ice—Lucifer doesn’t like it when he speaks English. Lucifer doesn’t like it when he calls for Dean. He’s going to be mad he’s going to hurt him hurt him hurt him—
Sam just doesn’t want to hurt anymore.
A clamouring sound to his right shocks him out of his spiralling, and he recoils against a hard wall, opening his eyes—he didn’t realise he closed them, the Cage was always so dark, so thick and suffocating and cold—to see a face he’s dreamed of. One he thought he’d never see again.
“Dean,” he finally manages to whisper, tears of relief and just a bit of fear pricking at his too-clear eyes.
Dean says something back, the words garbled to Sam’s ears as if they’re coming from underwater, and then he’s coming closer, hands twitching by his sides and steps uncharacteristically hesitant.
The wall that Death erected to protect Sam’s mind is unsuccessful, leaving the hunter to navigate centuries’ worth of memories and suffering. And after nearly two centuries of speaking Enochian, Sam isn’t sure he can remember how to speak English.

Dean has nightmares. That is old news. What Dean doesn't know is that Castiel has been singing to him when he sleeps, to make the nightmares go away. And every time he has a nightmare, Cas sings to him a lullaby of his own making. He sings it in his native language, Enochian. The song allows a little flow of grace to find its way to Dean and fight off the nightmare.

When Dean used the pearl and brought his father back, he did not pull the man through time. John Winchester was simply brought back from death, and is back to stay. While the first little bits of having the family all together for the first time in thirty years are peaceful, it quickly changes as long kept secrets and unresolved issues are brought to light.

“The fact that the insane—Satanic—shit that chick was spewing was the same shit you blabbered when I fucked you.” he sneered. Sam flinched, a shameful expression clouding his face. What made Dean the most angry was Sam didn’t even try to refute the statement. It was true.

Castiel swallowed, closing his eyes against a lance of pain in his chest that had nothing to do with the binding or the sigil. “Yes, you did. And its true, in any case.” Castiel gave him an out, but the words stung. He wasn’t human. Which meant he was – in a hunter’s mind – a creature.
An animal.
Something inside him felt like it was icing over...

“What?” Sam asks, sometimes, rubbing his eyes. He always dreams when he sleeps now. The cage doesn’t drive him crazy anymore, but it does fill his nights.
“You were talking in your sleep, man.” Dean sometimes says. Sometimes he just shakes his head at Sam. Sometimes he just asks if Sam’s okay. “Something ‘bout, I don’t know- I think I heard the word ‘burn’?”
Sam nods. He only dreams in Enochian nowadays. “Yeah.”

Sam knows some of what Gabriel endured at the hands of a monster. And he also knows that he could never permit another to linger in darkness when there is something that he could do about it. He agrees to Gabriel's reluctant request, and then proceeds to show the archangel that anything is possible, if you only have a little faith.
