Summary
Proving her honour to an entirely new faction, the dragonborn and Legate of the Imperial army joins the Companions, where she meets a tall, dark-haired Nord with the body of a beast (quite literally), voice of a dragon but demeanour of a puppy.
He’s rough around the edges but a sweetheart, and through many adventures, they find themselves drawn to one another in a way they’ve never felt about anyone else.

Summary
The great doors of Dragons Reach swung open, pillars lining a massive mead hall with great arching ceilings and balconies above. Once upon a time, in Skyrim’s more peaceful days, it would be host to every Jarl in the province, great moots held to determine the fate of Skyrim’s people.
As it was, the hall was empty save a single older man sitting upon a carved wooden throne and the court wizard in sleep clothes who went to stand behind him. His eyes had drifted closed, his breathing gentle and soft as he leaned hard against his palm. Ireleth took the steps up the dais two at a time, coming over.
“So the dragon has been driven off?” he asked quietly as the guards pulled Xantos up the last flight of stairs. One pattered up further, moving behind the throne while holding Xantos’ sword.
“Killed, my jarl, and I have brought the ones responsible- you’re... you’re not going to like it, my jarl.” Irileth looked over her shoulder to where the collected misfits were standing. "One of the heroes is a companion, the other is a dunmer girl, and a small breton mage-”
“And the last one is Xantos Ashborne.” Balgruuf finished. “How in oblivion did he end up fighting the dragon?”

The Errant Souls Archive by paraparadigm, polymorphic
Fandom: Elder Scrolls, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
30 Nov 2023
Summary
The land of Skyrim founders in the wake of a shattered empire, and there are those who would split it more—patriots, profiteers, and warmongers fresh out of jobs. With competing ambitions growing more costly to bear, some say the land is ripe for a hero. But who should it be? Not this particular Dragonborn.
An exploration of power vacuums and some of the more underbaked elements of TES lore.

Summary
It’s been a few weeks since Faendal left Riverwood following a unexpected night spent burying the hatchet together, when Sven receives a letter from him. It’s short and not particularly awe-inspiring, as the elf is no poet, but Sven finds himself eagerly awaiting each new instalment. Which could mean nothing.
(highly recommend reading the first fic in this series for context as to why they no longer hate each other)

Summary
A warrior who has only been rumoured about appears to aid the Companions and is swiftly recruited by Aela, but Farkas isn’t so sure about her.
She’s strong and capable, with the ability of swordsmanship, sorcery and the voice of the skies. There’s no denying that. Even Vilkas approves of her addition to their mercenary group…
But she’s a distraction and it seems only Farkas is affected.

Summary
Riverwood was, by Skyrim’s standards, a rather quiet settlement. Quiet enough, it seemed, that a single escaped prisoner was all it took to completely upend the life Sven had built for himself. But maybe, as he’d discover over a shared bottle of wine with an elf that a few weeks ago he would’ve happily slugged in the face, that wasn’t necessarily such a terrible thing.

Summary
Family and honor. The eldest of three children, Sonja Ironheart is your typical first born: stubborn, arrogant, and fiercely protective of her younger siblings. That doesn't mean her younger sister, Anja, always appreciates the lines Sonja crosses and when betrayal, loss, and grief rear their ugly heads, it only serves to drive the sisters further apart. But that doesn't stop Sonja from trying to protect the only family she has left. When Anja leaves Cyrodiil for Skyrim, Sonja follows and is caught crossing the border illegally, tipping her headfirst into an adventure of a lifetime. Follows Sonja from the chopping block to the first of the Seven Thousand Steps. Part 1 of 3.
Mainly follows the main quest line, rewrites the Companions quest line, completely changes the outcome of the Civil War. Sonja's adventure in Skyrim is not just her own; the decisions she makes change the lives of those around her and they must find their own way forward.
The earlier chapters of this story are currently undergoing revision. Up to Chapter 14 is current; in process of rewriting Chapter 15.

Summary
This is an alternate (and greatly abbreviated) story where Miranja marries Talvas – the stupidly happy ending Miranja would have preferred. This story syncs up more with my actual playthrough, in that Miranja joined the Legion and fought in the civil war BEFORE having to do the peace conference and hand over Markarth to the Stormcloaks, so Ondolemar is still alive and well.

Carlotta might not have been looking for a man- but she found a woman. An Imperial, like her. One who took Mila in as her own child, who fed them and gave them another family member, who protected them from harm.
It’s a bit of a shame she’s lied to Carlotta, but as long as she saves the world she’ll forgive Sade. -

“...this one doesn’t talk- I don’t talk like other Khajiit because I’m not- I don’t… I don’t want to be like other Khajiit,” Ja’kir chokes out, and damn is it a million times harder the second time. He takes a shaky breath, and slowly lets it out. “That’s… that’s it. Sorry.”
Aela doesn’t speak for a while, and that’s fine, because Ja’kir wouldn’t have had the courage to respond anyway. He tries not to panic, tries not to think of all the terrible ways she could react to this alone - and she doesn’t even know the half of what he’s really keeping hidden. Somehow, Ja’kir gets the feeling that he’s not supposed to be keeping a lot hidden from his shield-siblings… who is he kidding, he’s been doing that the entire time.
Ja'kir is a Khajiit with a rather tragic past that he's trying desperately to move past. Then, he gets caught in an ambush while crossing into Skyrim perfectly legally, thank you very much, and through a particularly odd turn of events, he winds up as a Companion of Jorrvaskr, the Dragonborn, and... a werewolf.
He's still not sure how that last one works.

A semi-opaque black screen opens up in front of my eyes, and I have to stop myself from squealing. The thing that opened up in front of me was the usual UI for the game when you open a container.
“You possess unique gifts bestowed upon you by the gods. Use them well” A raspy female voice stated. That’s good to know. I poke at the garnet on the black opaque UI and it appears on the lower half, under my name. I check the weight, as well as my weight limit. I’m shocked to see that my weight limit didn’t exist in this, what, pocket dimension storage?
I take the garnet, and the few potions that are in the chest, and tap the cross on the upper right-hand corner. Things are going to get interesting.
When the barrow is in sight, I stop, and accidentally make Faendal bump into me. “Why did you do that?” He demanded under his breath.
-
Before my wood elf companion can say anything else, I utter an insult under my breath, followed by “ Zul mey gut .”‘HEY, BITCH FACE! OVER HERE!’ rings out in the very middle of the camp. The bandits on the stairs all draw their melee weapons, and start looking around. Separating them from each other was easier than I had expected. I wasn’t originally expecting that to work.
-
My surroundings blur for a second, and white text appears in my vision, along with an experience bar. It disappeared soon after, and my vision became normal again.SPEECH INCREASED TO 100
-
If I really am playing as my character, I am in luck, as I had nearly maxxed out every skill, and some had even been reset and maxxed again. By this world’s definition, I am probably a master jack-of-all-trades. Not only that, I possess the knowledge from my old life, about book binding, making clothes, and whatever other temporary hobbies I had at any given time.
-
I don’t notice my hands shaking until Faendal holds them.“Let’s go hunting, then. Together.” He grins at me.
“So that you can watch me stuff my face with raw flesh and viscera and get blood everywhere?” I scoff.
“So that I can get to know you better. This dragon thing is a part of who you are now as far as things appear, so obviously watching you hunt like one and eat like one is going to be intimate, to say the least.”
