So, he wasn’t expecting anything to happen for his birthday, and was just hoping that March would pass by fast so that he wouldn’t be asked by Constance again even though she always did during the first week, and Ocean would try and corner him until, eventually, he’d rally her up enough to the point she’d huff and walk away, forgetting about her questions and his birthday.
[Sometimes it hurt when he realized that she just gave up so quickly like he just wasn’t worth the extra fight. But, yeah, it’s not like he wanted to celebrate anyway even if she got it out of him.]
Or, After not celebrating his birthday for so long, Noel finds out what it’s like again.

When you grow up with an obscure, undiagnosed mental illness, it can be really hard to understand what's going on. It can be hard to explain why you can have a good life and good friends but feel so awful. Who would understand the way your brain handles everyday life? Who would worry enough? Who would worry too much? How do you keep these thoughts from consuming you? When a cyclone rages in your mind every minute, worsening when you're stressed or anxious, you need a way to release the wind. When you have a dam up around your feelings, it's bound to fall.
Noel has dealt with all that his whole life. The only thing that's kept it in check is writing with Monique Gibeau. If his life isn't tragic, hers has to be. If he has no reason to feel pain, she does. But when the cyclone inside starts getting too powerful, too loud, the people closest to him begin to notice.
