Summary
Will Graham is chosen as tribute to the Minotaur—a death sentence he accepts without resistance. The orphanage didn't want him anyway.
But when he collapses in the labyrinth's depths, the monster who finds him doesn't kill. Instead, Hannibal carries him home, tends to him, and offers something Will has never had: a place to belong.

Seeing Will in this state—undone, unguarded, vulnerable—Hannibal let his thumb linger at the corner of his lips.
“Shh… focus.” Hannibal whispered, voice low. The words more a command than comforting.

It hits too close to home, seeing Hannibal like this. It's too real, it feels too real, even as Hannibal stops just a few feet away from him. His eyes, highlighted by the sunset, are a storm of blood red, drawing Will in all over again.

Will felt his anxiety suppress, the adrenaline began to slow its pump and he further relaxed into Hannibal’s hands. He leant forward, throwing his weight so his chin landed on the other man’s shoulder. Hannibal’s strong arms wrapped around him, holding him up off the ground as his knees buckled.
“I’ve got your best interests at heart, Will. It’s when you stray from me we lead to complications.”

Hannibal Lecter, on the eve of accompanying Will Graham to Minnesota, receives a call from an anonymous police officer who claims they have a mutual friend and asks for his help. Hannibal can recall only one possibility for who this friend might be: A Bioweapon he consulted on.
Splitting off from Claire and Sherry, Leon seeks sanctuary for himself and his unlikely follower - T-00, codename, Mr. X. Their only hope of safety is a ten-digit phone number that X writes into the dusty dirt of an abandoned barn. The voice on the phone promises help and Leon sets off across the Midwest to meet X's friend.
Will Graham is back into the disturbing field of criminal analysis when Raccoon City is wiped off the map in a terrorist attack. The tragedy dwarfs the killings of the Minnesota Shrike. But someone has to make sure that monsters are caught, even when the world goes insane. But he isn't so certain of his friend's strange nephew or the boyfriend he talks about.
Jack Crawford's team is not assigned to the Raccoon City investigation. But somehow, it keeps popping up in his jurisdiction anyway. The tangled web of corruption and deception seems to get more complex the longer he investigates.
