The children of Aragorn Elessar and Arwen Undómiel vanished on the very night when darkness besieged the city. An ancient and potent light, sudden and without warning, struck them and cast them far back into the past, to a time before the War of the Ring had even begun. Hearing her name, she snapped to attention, her eyes trying to focus not once, but twice before pushing herself out of his embrace. She shot him a sour look, and as he came to realize a drunken one too. She was far drunker than he had realized.
"Don't you dare touch me..."
She mumbled, and made an attempt to walk away, but nearly fell in her drunkeness, before Legolas caught her. She was not getting away this time.- Note; this is Book 4, hence it will very little sense unless you read Book 1-3, as there are many changes from the Original story line -

Through out his life everyone seems to be hiding behind masks, these masks finally slipped at the death of his mother. Driven from Dunland, in searches for kinship among the Rohirrim. Here begins the tale of Grima son of Galmod, who was by no means any run-of-the-mill type of guy. Resembling more a mule then his fairhaired kinsmen.
And yet after being rejected by his father, he finds himself amongst possibelities and prosperity beyond his wildest dreams. Yet those dream are about to turn into an evergrowing, tonguesplitting nightmare. Now he must choose, will he stay under the wizard? Or will he find his way back to his king, where he belongs, and defend his Mark? A choice, only made more difficult even when said king pleads for him to come back to him.
Cold and heavy with guilt, were another had been held by grief and the weight of a crown. Luckly Grima isen't alone in his endeavore, along the way he meets Merry and Pippin. Panic coiled in Rhosynel’s chest, as two things became apparent. Firstly, that she could easily end up roped into travelling further on the whims of a wizard. And secondly, that if word reached her employer that she point-blank refused Lord Elrond, she’d be kicked from the Messenger services.
In other words, Rhosynel was trapped.*
Working as a messenger Rhosynel is accustomed to travelling the length and breadth of Middle Earth, so carrying a missive to the village of Bree should have been easy. But this simple task sets off a chain of events, entangling her in the lives of strangers and the fate of Middle Earth, which leaves her fighting to keep both them, and herself, alive.

His feet stumble on the carpet and Thorin lurches forward to grasp the halfling by the shoulder. He's gentle, worried that he may snap the frail Bilbo in two if he pulls him back too hard. There's a stuttered sigh and Bilbo eases back into the taller dwarf; Thorin can remember a time where the hobbit's head would be held at least as high as his shoulder, but at one-hundred-and-twenty-eight, the halfling now bowed lowly at the breastplate of his shining, royal armour.
"Easy, ghivashel," he says softly to him, and cautiously turns the hobbit so he can look him directly in those remarkable honey-brown eyes, "I will follow their trail and make sure that no harm comes to the boy."
Bilbo sniffs. "You will keep an eye on Frodo?"
"You have my word."
(Bagginshield, in which King Thorin II is unknowingly the father to the plant-grown dwobbit Frodo Baggins. After years away from one another, Thorin returns at an ageing Bilbo's bidding to go after Frodo on his journey to destroy the One Ring and see that he is safe and brought home.)
