V woke in the back of the van as it cruised up the highway. Her head felt better now, but there was still a metallic aftertaste in her mouth from the way her brain had fried earlier. She rubbed her eyes with the heels of her hands and stretched, groaning.
“Is sleeping beauty up?” Judy called from the driver’s seat.
V and Judy are taking a solo road trip up to Seattle so V can meet Judy's grandparents before the end comes.

V has gone through so much to undo the choices made at Kompeki Plaza. Slotting the Relic was the catalyst for a seemingly non-stop, adrenaline-fueled, fever dream through Night City searching for the cure to fix her. After choosing to assault Araska Tower with Panam and the Aledcaldos, she finally thought she was at the trial's end; the end was in sight. But Alt lied to her, she fucked up leaving her with six months left to live. Not on her watch!
V was fed up; she wanted to start her life with Judy, who’d join her in fleeing Night City. V wanted to live, and she was going to find a way. Her journey takes her out of Night City for some much-needed R&R while they come to terms with past events. But time runs short, and V continues to have "episodes" - bloody noses, blackouts, strange dreams. She needed a fix, and she needed it sooner rather than later.
V and Judy journey to Phoenix to find Doctor Natasha Brooks, an ex-scientist at Biodyne Systems and creator of a unique series of Nanobots designed to fix damaged tissue in Multiple sclerosis patients. Could this be the cure she’s been searching for? Could she acquire them before her clock finally runs out?

Judy softens, tilting her head just right so the harsh lamplight catches her eyes, makes their backs flash brilliant blue. “Believe me, I get how knowin’ V can… she changes people. Everyone she meets knows that. It’s, uh… it can be a lot to take in sometimes.”
Someone sees something they shouldn't, and it starts a chain-reaction that none of them ever expected.

It has been 3 months since the raid on Arasaka Tower. V and Judy have both departed Night City with Panam and her Aldecaldos. The group have already moved to Tucson and found very limited success with Panam's contacts, and are now searching elsewhere. Their search has brought them out of the desert to Seattle, where Judy seems to arrive at a solution to her lover's affliction. It will, however, require V to go through a trial akin to hell itself, if far less enjoyable.

Panam is trying to become the leader Saul knew she could be; it's not going great. River wants one last mission with his closest friend and confidant, since she may not see the next year. Judy’s lost enough in her life; her hometown, friends, family, Evelyn; and she's gonna be damned if she'll lose V, too.
And V? V just wants to complete her bucket list. Or live. Either one works for her.

My first ever fic!
There’s gonna be some canon compliance in some parts but divergence will come later. I want to give Judy and V the proper ending they both deserve, and also wanted to explore “cures” for V. I feel like the game offered many small insights on how to create a cure so I’ll be playing into that a bit. Many chapters are inspired by music too, I’ll be including song lyrics and titles :)
Whole purpose of this fic is to continue on with the story in my own way. I don’t remember the last time I felt so captivated by a storyline, let alone one told in a video game. The themes of death and overcoming one’s fear of death have been something I’ve personally struggled with, probably the reason this game struck such a chord for me!!
Not to mention the queer representation?!?!? So many games are created with the cishet male gaze, and here comes cp2077 with a canon lesbian character! My fuckin heart.
The ladies in this game truly stole my heart, love them all so much.

V is trying to build her new life with the Aldecaldos, but is still stuck in the past, hearing Johnny's voice, mourning the breakdown of her relationship with Judy, only now starting to come to terms with everything she's lost. Johnny, brought back from the dead, again, is running away from everything, drowning in guilt and self-destruction. Kerry, once his tour with Us Cracks has ended, falls back into old habits.
But V and Johnny's fates are still tied together, whether they want it or not. V starts having visions again, tangled memories of Johnny's past, of his broken relationship with Kerry, that mirror her own life, her own losses, her own failures.
With help from Panam, V has to figure out how to dig Johnny out of the hole he's dug for himself, heal the years of pain that lie between him and Kerry, and maybe on the way she can heal herself and her own broken heart too.
