Ekko traps the head of a bad nail between the grips of his hammer and works it out of a half-rotten plank. He sets it on a pile of other rusty nails.
“I guessed.”
“No. You knew.”
There’s no accusation in her tone, just a matter-of-fact statement. Calling him out on his bullshit.
Ekko gets to working on another nail. He doesn’t respond. But he doesn’t deny it, either.
He hears her let out a breath through her nose. Like she’s figured something out. Maybe she has; she always knew him too well. He sort of hoped that after all this time, she couldn’t still do that.
But somehow, he’s not surprised.

This was inspired by a Tiktok comment and I blacked out, opened my drive, and an hour later I was staring this down.
"Viktor being a little shit" was the original title but I wrote a line and the rest is history.

“What?” Viktor breathes out, flicking his gaze anywhere than his lab partner. At this angle, with Jayce for once shorter, those dazzling eyes are just a bit too much.
Like he said, it's terminal.
“Viktor,” he reaches for the notebook, Viktor’s hand jerks back and the book tumbles to the ground a foot or two away. “Wait, I'm sorry.”
Jayce does look devastatingly apologetic. Viktor never stood a chance. -

Jinx heard it. They were arguing right outside Silco’s office. He would get irritated with her everytime she talked shitty about Jinx. And that only fueled Sevika’s fire, so Sevika wouldn’t get any quieter. It reminded her of Mylo and Vi.

Silco woke up early. He had always been a bit of a light sleeper, especially ever since his near death experience. As calmly as he liked to talk about it, it had still been incredibly traumatizing for him. So, waking up when the sun was barely up was normal for him.
He got himself a plate of breakfast and also got a plate for the young girl, who was sleeping on a small cot in the corner of his room. Midway through silently eating his meal, he saw the girl wake up and look around, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
