Summary
It never occurred to Emmie that her happy life on her boat with her brother Andrew was at risk of collapsing at any time. After a devastating storm destroyed her boat and left her brother lost and presumably severely injured, Emmie finds herself cast ashore on a mysterious island, alone and scared. What’s stranger are the island’s inhabitants, many of whom she does not trust and who seem not to trust her back. Emmie is left with several choices as she attempts to save her brother and find her way home, without trying to anger the ominous (vaguely attractive) island leader who, for some reason, seems to believe she has a higher purpose.

Explores Vegeta’s backstory under the Planet Trade Organization and his fraught relationships with his comrades, particularly the twisted bond he and Raditz share. Most of the story is narrated by Raditz, but there are lots of twists. He is an unreliable narrator, and in places, altered mental states allow him to take other points of view. We also get interludes from Bulma as she reads and reacts to Raditz's account.
