And then, he heard it. Growling. Snarling. Hissing. These sounds weren’t unusual here, but Vash didn’t recognize the tone of this creature’s voice. Its cadence was different from the forest-dweller’s. This was an outsider.
Vash proceeded cautiously. The closer to his cottage he got, the louder the sounds became. When he got to the clearing he called home, he saw the source of the noises.
A large, black wolf was writhing on the ground a few feet from his front door. Its right hind leg was stuck in what appeared to be a poacher’s trap and it was trying its best to crawl into the cottage. It looked to be in extreme pain.

Summary
After the whirlwind adventure that was the sand steamer you find yourself rescued by Home, with Vash still passed out and you not being in the best shape either the intervention of Brad and Luida is more than welcome since you know you could use the reprieve. The only downside is the tag along trio is with you, and you don't get the feeling you'll be able to just leave them behind. Then again. You could always hog-tie Wolfwood up since at least Roberto still gives you the sense he wants to be long gone from the brewing storm that's hovering over your final destination in JuLai. *

You knew from the moment Vash saw the town in the distance something was wrong, he told you he'd been in the area before. As you walked across the sands towards the town, an ominous feeling settling in your bones staring at the wind turbines that weren't moving. Taking in the sand built up around the structures. Something had happened here, and this place was abandoned. That isn't what's bothering you though, Vash. Vash seems to know where he's going, and you have a feeling things are about to get a hell of a lot worse. *

“It’s Meryl Stryfe,” she grumbled, double checking the address on her phone. “Yeah, this is apparently the right spot. It looks… different from what I was expecting.”
“If he’s skipping out on his taxes, he should have enough money to fix his coffee shop,” Roberto muttered.
She huffed, rolling her eyes. “We don’t know if he’s actually committing tax evasion, sir! That’s why we’re here: to figure out what this guy’s deal is.”(bi-monthly chapters!)

A quiet sound of affirmation bubbled up from the back of the other man’s throat.
“So,” he whispered, throat dry, voice rumbling low. His touch returned to Vash’s chin, feather-light, achingly tender. He traced the line of it with his fingers, then up to the cupid’s bow of his mouth, brushing the pad of his thumb over the fullness of his bottom lip, “what’s it feel like when I touch you like this?”
Vash’s eyes fluttered closed, focusing in on the feel of his careful touches, looking anything but reassured. “It feels like… waiting for the other shoe to drop. Feels like…”
“Like a trap?”
Boundless-sky blue eyes opened again, and Wolfwood saw a flicker of recognition there.
Yeah, Vash and Wolfwood needed to talk things out, but... wasn't sex so much easier?
