The young man stared at him, shocked.
"You... don't you remember me?" he asked, finding it simply inconceivable.
And Lance, in other circumstances, would have been amused by that reaction, but there was a little girl he had to bring back to her mother; he hadn't slept for almost twenty-seven hours and needed a break.
"No, dude, now if you want to excuse me..."
The boy turned Lance to him, their faces a short distance away, purple eyes fixed on his, and Lance's treacherous heart skipped a beat.
"Blue Spirit, I'm Red Warrior. Do you really not remember me?"
At that point, Lance began to break out in a cold sweat. Of course, he couldn't remember him. Lance wasn't the real one.
(In which, due to a stupid stunt, the seventeen-year-old Lance dies and finds himself in the body of a villain of his best friend's favourite graphic novel, trying not to attract too much attention. Too bad for Lance, Keith doesn't make things easy for him at all.)

Keith is fuming. “How exactly is this my fault?! You’re the one who got himself buried under a pile of rocks!”
“And you’re the one who wasted time searching the wrong pile of rocks for me instead of running after Sendak,” Lance counters. “Besides, I was clearly doing fine on my own.”

“What’s pretty, smells nice, can either make you feel good or kill you? There are two right answers.”
“A Corellian prostitute.”
Lance considers this for a moment. “There are three right answers.”

Or, in a different war, in a different galaxy, Lance and Keith aren’t allowed to hate each other, but being friends might prove much more difficult.-

It’s Keith, or at least a shadow of Keith, created by Lance’s fatigued brain and wild imagination.
“We did it,” he says, voice hoarse and quiet, revealing a secret to this apparition, “We are a good team.”
It’s a dream, he realises as the shadow smiles at him. It’s a warm, gentle smile, a genuine one and Lance has never seen Keith smile like this before. There are small dimples in his cheeks and Lance thinks Keith should smile more.
Something tingles his neck and he notices a long, black braid falling apart. Keith has always been one of those Padawans that let their braids grow out to insane lengths. After a decade, Keith’s braid reaches past his hips and Lance cannot believe the split ends on that thing are real. Now, he’s sure he’s dreaming.
Since it isn’t real, Lance will get the most of it. He relaxes against the body and starts re-braiding Keith’s Padawan symbol. The hair is ridiculously soft, and dream-Keith tenses for a moment.
