Summary
Thor takes a good look at Loki once he has hauled him back onto the quinjet, and realizes that there is something odd about Loki's eyes. Thor has grown and changed much in the last year, and no longer takes anything for granted. So he starts asking questions. It doesn't take long to figure out that Loki is not acting of his own free will.
Tony Stark knows what it is to be forced to do as an enemy commands. Steve Rogers has seen the atrocities manipulative madmen are willing to commit. Clint, Logan, Bruce and Natasha have been subjected to said madmen. They all know what it is to lose themselves, and to seek redemption.
Together, this band of broken heroes draws a line in the sand. They will not tolerate any tyrant, foreign or domestic. That includes Nick Fury and the WSC, who have used everyone on the team for their own aims. It includes Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross, who has hunted Bruce against all reason. It includes Odin, who treats his sons like commodities. And it includes Thanos, who has delusions of conquering Earth.
Along the way, they learn to trust each other. They learn to help each other. They become a family.

Derek snorts. “Yeah, way to set the mood, Stiles,” he says, but settles on the new sofa, pulling Stiles into his lap and into a kiss. “I love you, okay?”
Stiles beams at him. “I love you, too. And we’ve been dating for two whole months and nobody has gotten meningitis.”
“So it seems,” Derek says.
Stiles really enjoys making out with Derek. It can’t really go anywhere, and he has a feeling that he responds to it differently than a living person would, because he doesn’t get impatient as time goes on. He just likes to have Derek’s hands on him, touching him anywhere, everywhere. “This is awesome, right?” he breathes against Derek’s temple, as Derek mouths at his collarbone. “We can’t get blue balls, so we could literally do this forever.”
Derek gives a little snort and mutters, “You’re so weird.”
“Do you miss it?” Stiles asks.
“What, sex?” Derek asks, and Stiles nods. “Not really. I mean, I only had it twice in my entire life, so we’re not talking about something I had on the regular. And . . . this is better. Because it’s you.”
“Oh my God, that was so sweet I’m gonna throw up, say it again.”
Derek growls at him. “Let’s go check in on the election.”
“Fine,” Stiles says, laughing. But he means it. Eternity sounds surprisingly okay, as long as Derek’s there with him.
