Tim Drake has always done what is expected of him his mother and father wouldn’t except anything but perfect. After years of idolizing the the vigilantes in his dark city Robin dies and he finds Batman and shoves his way into his life becoming the third Robin. And every night he goes home to an empty mansion where his parents care nothing about him and are gone from Gotham most of the months of the year. But it doesn’t matter he has to be Robin and Robin is what keeps him from breaking down. Then suddenly it’s gone. Jason is alive, Bruce Wayne is gone and Dick Grayson has to step up to be the Dark knight. And Tim is no longer needed. Not when the blood son of Bruce Wayne is here to be Robin!? I mean Tim was never wanted in the first place, why would he be here when someone better was? Then Tim finds Bruce (and he also looses a spleen but that part doesn’t matter) :). And yet…he’s still not sure where he’s supposed to be…Robin? Gone. Parents? Gone. His mission? Finished. He’s not…needed. He did what was expected, what was asked…and now he’s just done? I mean…he isn’t even Bruce’s son! Of course…why would anyone want around a boy who just shoves their way into someone’s life…why would they want a Robin that wasn’t chosen?

Tej samej nocy Bruce Wayne odzyskuje syna, tracąc przy tym innego. Jason Todd zjawia się na progu jego domu, podczas gdy Tim Drake znika z powierzchni ziemi, nie pozostawiając za sobą śladu. Część osób, które pozostawił za sobą, wierzy, że nie żyje. Bruce Wayne, wręcz przeciwnie, stara się go odnaleźć, jednak ciężko jest tego dokonać mając na głowie opiekę nad cudownie zmartwychwstałym Jasonem oraz serią dziwnych wydarzeń w Gotham. Dick stara się po prostu utrzymać razem to, co zostało z jego rodziny, a Jason uczy się żyć w nowej rzeczywistości, nie mogąc zapomnieć o swoim następcy.
Tim Drake jednak jak najbardziej żyje (choć czasem wbrew swojej woli) i planuje swój wielki powrót do domu (zyskując niespodziewanego towarzysza).

The glasses arrived a few days later and on the way home from school, Mrs. Mac and Timothy went to pick them up. On the way home from the eye doctor, they had a very serious conversation.
“Repeat to me what I just said, Timothy.”
Timothy sighed but did as he was told. “I must wear contacts to school, in public, or whenever my parents are around. They must never know about my glasses. Whenever I am alone or with you, at home, I am free to wear them but no one must ever know about my glasses.”

Tim would come home some nights to find the cat already occupying his spot on the couch. It’d yawn, squint at Tim with glittering jade eyes, and go back to purring itself to sleep.
Tim was still resolute about the no food rule, and the cat never begged.
It didn’t steal, either. It didn’t even chase the cat toys Tim built - just because he was tired and needed an easy project. The feathers glued to the end of a roomba were met with a single tail-flick, and no interest.
