It was ridiculous to wait on your own death. Trying to guess when it would arrive or running from it, only for the grim reaper to stare you dead in the eyes one day. He wanted to meet him on his own terms.
So he set himself a countdown. One year to live life to its fullest, not putting things off for the next time or waiting around. He had told himself that he wouldn’t let a single chance go, that this would lead him to becoming the greatest version of himself.
He wasn’t sure if he had kept that promise. But at least he was quite contempt with what was now awaiting him.
Tims feet were now dangling off the top of the skyscraper he had sneaked up on.
OR: Tim is suicidal. Jason just became Red Hood and is trying to throw some Guys off of the same Rooftop that Tim is trying to kill himself on. Chaos ensues.

It wouldn’t do any good right now to rise to Dick’s level of agitation, not for Dick and certainly not for Tim. He needed to keep a cool head and he needed to ensure that Tim gets rest and if that required Dick leaving, then that was what Bruce was going to have to do.
“Walk away. We will address things in the morning.”
In truth, given the light streaming in through the window, it was probably far closer to noon than morning already but Bruce did not correct himself nor did he allow himself to step away from Tim, not while Dick was still practically vibrating with unfocused energy.
“I don’t want to fight, Son.”
“Son. Son? Are you fucking kidding me, B? You don’t look me in the eye for eight fucking months and all it takes is me making sure that Tim doesn’t get himself killed by his own stupid mistake and now all of a sudden I’m your son again? Because I was useful to you?”

Bernard had never been a fan of altars.
Even before he found himself flat on his back, wrists tied uncomfortably above his head with ropes that scratched like twine made from cat tongues, he had a thing about them. Too dramatic. Too blood-sacrifice-y. Too “You’re not getting out of this one, Dowd.”
This one especially sucked.
The chaos monsters—twenty of them, if he’d counted right before the chanting started—looked like something spat out by a D-list demon god with bad taste and a love for ooze. Horns, claws, teeth in weird places. Too many eyeballs, and not enough common sense.
Bernard strained against the ropes as the lead freak—bigger, slimier, and apparently in charge—raised a jagged ceremonial knife above its head. The others screamed in some language Bernard had been tuning out for the past hour.
Then the knife came down.
Straight into his sternum.
He braced for pain. He’d tried not to scream when it happened, maybe leave this world with some shred of dignity. But instead—
Nothing.

The kid disappears into the night. Tim is still reeling from the sound of the kid’s shoulder snapping, and of course, the blood slowly trickling from his nose. He sighs, feeling just slightly embarrassed that a small vigilante who is barely 5 feet tall managed to best him.
“Crow,” he mutters aloud, blinking at the night sky like it has personally offended him. “Seriously?” He presses a gloved hand to his nose, winces, and mutters, “Of course he picked a dramatic bird name.” Then he sits up, slowly, groaning as he rolls his shoulder. He touches his comm, flicking the mic on.
“B,” he says, and then clears his throat again. He’s not winded—he’s not—but he is mildly humbled. “…I found a new kid for you to adopt.” There’s a pause. Then, through the comms, comes the quiet sound of Bruce sighing.
Or,
Damian al Ghul is sent to Gotham with a mission: earn the right to stand beside the Batman. He will not grovel for a place at his father's side like some desperate orphan—he will prove he belongs there. Tim knew Jason was alive, there was no body, thus no proof of death. He knew Jason was alive, because somewhere out there in the wide depth of the multiverse, he knew his spark still shone. He knew this to be true, and he was going to find him. He was going to prove that he wasn't losing his mind (even if it felt like it) that he could do this.
But what will he do now that he found a way to travel to a whole other universe? Will he find his way to Jason? Will he be able to go home again? Will Jason even want to come with him? And why is he starting to lose so much time again?
But more importantly, who are all these people that seem so set on making sure he is ok? He's fine. Completely fine. Even if the voices are getting worse and he feels a bit like he is breaking. He'll be fine, he just needs to get Jason home. Then everyone can be normal again.
Or: the Tim focused sequel about found family and rekindling bonds. A character study into trauma, and a deep dive into Tim and Jason's complicated sibling bond.
Follow up to Stray Little Bat (but works as a stand alone). Going to be super slow to update until SLB is done, but I wanted to get it in chronologically.
