“I didn’t try to…” Jon started, on instinct, but ground to a halt as the room crashed in around him.
He’d known. Of course he’d known what he was trying to do. But it wasn’t…it wasn’t just that. It wasn’t some breakdown. It was the end of the world and he’d felt it end with a knife lodged in his heart and Martin’s body growing cold against his own, the rubble of the panopticon crushing what was left of the both of them.
No, no, that was too simple a phrase for it. It was so…common. So usual. Horrible, horrible, yes, and there had been years where all he’d wanted was to be able to truly say he’d tried to do it, proven himself for his suffering, but now?
Now, in the face of everything he’d seen? It wasn’t killing himself. It was eviscerating a stain, wrenching blood out of fabric until it was spotless. It was pulling every horrible thing he’d done, or had failed to stop, into a concrete moment, an end point that he could control. And tying off that knot.He wasn’t killing himself. He was just finishing the job that had been left incomplete.

Warning: Acephobia
Jonathan Sims angrily stalked through the streets of London, his father’s voice ringing in his head. “It’s simply not proper for a man of 30 not to have known the touch of another - go, get yourself down to the brothel and make a man out of yourself.” Jon didn’t want to - he was asexual (though the term itself didn’t exist back in the late 1800s). Sex was decidedly unappealing. Yet he couldn’t ignore a direct order from his father, not when he was so reliant on him for room and board, so he made his way along the slush-covered streets until he reached the brothel door. Then he steeled himself and knocked.
Or, Jon goes to a brothel and befriends Georgie and Martin who help him create the facade that he *totally* had sex while he was there. Martin has had a crush on him for a while and it becomes a full infatuation. Jon struggles with issues traumatizing people for their trauma so he can eat it and has been avoiding getting close to people for fear of hurting them but he likes Martin back. He and Henry Jekyll, both having their dreams thwarted by their unfortunate circumstances, have a chance encounter and Jon volunteers as Jekyll's lab rat.

The Magnus Institute of Art is not a university. It is an artists' collective, with a rotating cast of Resident Artists and the amateurs they've agreed to take on for a year. It is highly prestigious and exclusive, and somehow Martin got in without actually applying.
The Institute is run by famed modern artist Elias Bouchard, who very rarely takes on charges. He's made quite an exception for Jon.
Art can draw out such powerful emotion, after all. It just needs the right guiding hand.
