While camping in a former temple of Selûne that's been overrun by goblins, Astarion catches Luka Morrigan (Tav) sneaking away to commune with Abdirak, a disciple of the Goddess of Pain. Perhaps this dhampir from Barovia is not such a saint after all?
“Our Mistress teaches us that pain is an intimate thing,” Abdirak explains, “and in embracing her love, a deeper connection forms between minister and supplicant. Bonds tempered in the fires of pain are impossible to break.”
That is precisely what Astarion must avoid. He doesn’t want to bond with Luka, he just wants to seduce the boy. And yet, Astarion can’t deny the power he feels while clutching the whip. Is this really any different than Luka offering over his sweet, nectarine blood for Astarion’s nourishment? Follows the plot of BG3 fairly closely. No Dark Urge. Astarion will not ascend, but it's discussed. Tav (named Zephyr in the story) has her own backstory in Baldur’s Gate.
Warnings are mostly for Astarion's backstory and canon-typical violence in fight scenes/backstories. Specific content warnings will be in the notes prior to each chapter when relevant. Very mild/alluded rape/non-con for Astarion and Zephyr's backstories, but nothing explicit.

As he gets closer, he can see countless faint white lines crisscrossing beneath the fresh cuts, decades of self-mutilation. This is not the first time she's done this.
"You mustn't tell the others," she begs, tears flowing freely down her face. "Please, they wouldn't understand."
Astarion doesn't know how to respond, struck dumb by what he's caught her doing and her request. Siobhan's eyes search his face frantically, trying to divine what he's thinking and what he'll do next. With a start, he realizes they're playing out the inverse of the night he'd tried to drink from her. Now, he's the one being asked to protect a horrible secret.
But he can hardly focus on what to do next, all thoughts deafened by the sound of her throbbing heartbeat pounding in his ears and the pungent smell of her blood flooding his nostrils.

Bloodletting is a remedy that is hardly possible to estimate too highly. Or that's what they say. Siobhan has enough darkness in her past that maybe a little bloodletting is called for. Unbeknownst to her, Astarion is more than happy to oblige.
