To move on from a heartbreaking loss, Marinette Dupain-Cheng takes a side job: a Michelin Guide inspector, one of the anonymous food critics whose reports guide the assignment -- or revoking -- of those coveted Michelin Stars. She has plenty of culinary experience, after all.
That the whole requirement for Michelin inspectors to keep their identities as secret and closely guarded as a CIA agent appeals to the dissatisfied adrenaline junkie portion in her is just a bonus.
Jason Todd can't believe that somehow he's ended up working with Interpol. But given that Talia al Ghul is in pursuit of something fantastically dangerous which cannot be allowed to fall into the hands of the League of Assassins, he's begrudgingly become a temporary secret agent.
What he didn't expect was a tiny French firecracker who seems to be keeping too many secrets about why exactly she keeps showing up at all the same places as Jason, and who has downright alarmingly unconventional and unorthodox fighting skills. It's obvious to him that she's an agent on behalf of some third player on this game-board, but Jason isn't certain who.
All he knows for sure is that somehow, this little pixie is going to be the death of him.

Slade decides to continue their game by returning to Ra's Al - Ghul's facility and home on Lazarus Island, where he's successfully brainwashed (by partly magic and drugs) Timothy Drake, Jason Todd, and Slade's concubine , Dick Grayson. He's also decided that if he couldn't have an heir, he'd take.And so, Damian was his best shot at getting Bruce to send a threat to the merc. Dami however, is not on anyone's side - not until he's about to realize why Slade really needs the boy. Will Rose as well also get to stop this cycle of violence, freeing her family from Deathstroke's impending wrath before her father's secret gets out of hand?

Jon grabs his face with two fingers and dares to squeeze the chin between them. If he wanted to, he could shatter Damian's jaw and no one would even hear a breath come out of Damian's mouth, but that is the thrill of their "game": the knowledge that either of them could end the other's life with a single gesture, for Jon knows that Damian himself could kill him with a single shard of kryptonite. Perhaps he has one encapsulated in a tooth, perhaps in the gold jewelry he wears; perhaps even the pendant in his ear has a kryptonite heart, or the rings that glitter on his fingers. What is certain, and what Jon is absolutely aware of, is that Damian would never be taken by surprise, not even by him. Nor him himself by Damian, come to think of it. He probably doesn't judge Damian for his actions 'cause he's not that different from him, but he still doesn't have the courage to admit that he could destroy anyone with a snap of his fingers if he wanted to - or if Damian himself asked him to. She had survived it all so far. So the question is, can she survive being around her new friend...Who was apparently centuries, maybe thousand(s), of years old? And dealt with magic, assassins, bringing the dead back to life and WHAT THE HELL WAS HER LIFE ANYMORE?!
Note: This story was originally meant to be a LOT longer with more slow burn, but I wrote myself into a bit of a corner and things got a bit too convoluted for me. I've been told it's still enjoyable though, so please feel free to read as you wish. Thank you!
