Even now, it doesn’t feel exactly real, as we skirt around touching each other, as if we weren’t doing worse last night, his hands suspended in the air, waiting for permission, face flushed and pink. “You know I’ve got two left feet.” He mumbles, spurring me on just enough to close the gap between us, letting my hands fall around his waist, coaxing him into relaxing against me. Now when I made fun of him for his dancing skills, I never said mine were great either, so we just sway, and his hands skirt around the small of my back. Fingertips brush against the fabric of my shirt as he lets his head press against my shoulder. He must be really tired.
“..’S okay, so do I.” It barely comes out as a mumble, but is accompanied by a soft kiss to his hair.
Hands barely move from their places, just moving in time with the swaying of our bodies, more passive than anything else right now, heads pressed together as if we couldn’t live if we were apart. I don’t think I could live without him anymore, even if I want to pretend like I could. He must be wearing his new cologne, because the scent upon him is new, but not unwanted, and I happily take it in, mapping new territory with my nose both physically and sensually.

If you asked Whizzer-from-last-year what he would be doing a year in the future, his last response would be arguing with his SNL crush at a table read while dozens of people just sort of…observe. He’d never met this man before, but Marvin was still arguing with him like it was their hundredth fight, not first. His confidence would be intriguing or even arousing if it wasn’t so infuriating.

In October of 2022, openly gay baseball star Whizzer Brown is invited to host Saturday Night Live. During that week, he makes a lifelong enemy in Marvin Cohen of Weekend Update fame.
In 2024, Whizzer believes it's safe to host SNL again because Marvin has left the show to pursue bigger and better things. Due to an unfortunate coincidence with the musical guest, he is dead wrong, and after that night, his life is never the same.
