There were three long sprigs of dried-and-pressed lavender alongside a polaroid of a raggedy teddy bear undergoing some kind of medical procedure. A piece of paper was wrapped around something that felt like a gift card, and Ed unwrapped the paper to see what he would be treating himself to later. Instead of a gift card, he found an ID for the local university. Wait, he thought incredulously. Is that…?
It was. The ID in the book belonged to the hunky new librarian.
Ed sees the new librarian and is so totally normal about it.

Summary
Pushing the door to their bedroom open, the sight that greeted Ed made his heart ache. Stede had pretty much given up on dressing, a trail of discarded clothing leading to his side of the bed the only indication that he had even considered getting dressed that morning.
Stede was laying on his side of the bed, wearing next to nothing, having managed to get himself settled with a pregnancy pillow contorted around his body. His breathing was slow, chest rising and falling like waves lapping against the hull of a ship. A thin sheen of sweat dewed across his forehead, the fan blowing directly onto him seemingly doing nothing to help it.
Every fan blowing and window open in the house was no match for being heavily pregnant in the middle of August. Between the heatwave and the little monster kicking the shit out of him, he'd barely been sleeping the past week.

Valentine’s Day used to be a week-long affair, with he and Stede sparing no expense trying to constantly one-up the other with gifts and surprise trips and romantic dinners. Lucius thought they were disgusting about it but Ed honestly couldn’t give less of a shit. But they’d really fallen off the wagon with it the past few years – first was Stede’s wicked morning sickness two years ago, with Valentine’s Day falling squarely in the middle of his first trimester. They’d had to reschedule their (optimistically planned, in all fairness) plans that year, pushing their trip to Campbell River to after his morning sickness settled in the second trimester.
Then Charlotte was sick for most of February last year, and they’d just about lost track of the calendar until Ed was aggressively reminded during a late night pharmacy run for cough medicine. They’d promised each other that this year would make up for the previous two, and Ed sure as shit had a calendar reminder sitting there taunting him.
Needless to say, Ed had totally, completely, 100% forgotten Valentine's Day, and if his still sleeping husband were any indication, he'd bet that Stede did too.
