Tommy collapsed to his knees, breath hitching as pain exploded through his stomach. Every inhale felt like fire crawling up his throat.Clink.
Wilbur dropped the voice changer. The tiny device hitting the floor echoed louder than any scream.
“What’s wrong, Toms? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
Wilbur’s voice—his real voice—cut through the air. Too familiar. Too calm.“No. Fucking. Way…” Tommy’s voice cracked, each word strangled by agony. He tried to breathe, but the pain was a noose tightening around his ribs.
“Don’t worry,” Wilbur crouched down, eyes glinting with a twisted sort of affection. “You’re not going to die. Think of this as… an initiation. We all go through it. Isn’t that right, Techno?”
Another figure stepped into the light.
Tommy froze. His heartbeat went silent.
“Fucking Techno…” he rasped, disbelief dripping from every syllable.
Techno lifted his knife and gave a friendly little wave.
“Surprise, Tommy.”
This time, the voice came from the second voice changer—glowing red in Techno’s hand. -

Summary
Carnivals were meant to be big and bold though. From the food to the rides and games. When Techno had a difficult time dealing with too much external stimulus on a normal day, it made sense why he'd struggle so much. Even with the forethought of earbuds and a hoodie, it didn't fix the smells, the disorienting lights, the constantly moving and often spinning rides, or the lack of personal space.
It left him feeling unreasonably sulky when he'd agreed to come. Phil had offered of course. Wonderful, beautiful, social butterfly Phil. It was what people did, right? Go to the carnival with their partner. He wouldn't deny Phil that. It hadn't seemed so bad at the time. Though Phil had beamed at him so brightly that Techno hadn't had time to even consider regretting it at the time.
~Or Techno is worried about their carnival date being overstimulating and making it less fun for Phil. Phil is prepared with a game plan and makes sure they both have the best time.

Dream considered that. No fake niceties, no over-the-top friendliness. Just two people coexisting. It was perfect.
“Alright, deal.” Dream said. “Should I come back tomorrow morning with my stuff?”
Wilbur waved him off. “Sure, sure. I’ll also give you a copy of the keys tomorrow too.”
It was almost too perfect.
He should’ve known there was a catch.
