Summary
Fear is a universal experience - whether it's a fear of heights, death, or something seemingly insignificant. Most people encounter fear for the first time as children, and as they grow, their fears evolve alongside them. But not everyone follows this path.
Some grow up believing they're untouchable, tougher than the world around them. The absence of fear mutates into a dangerous indifference - a disregard for consequences. They seek thrills in rebellion: stealing for the rush, dismissing those they deem beneath them, blind to privilege and responsibility alike.
Yet these individuals aren't inherently evil. They may seem that way at first, but appearances deceive.
What they truly need is something to care about - something so precious it makes them fear the day they might lose it.

Lalo is unique. He’s not like the other Salamancas that Ignacio has dealt with, no. He’s not wired like Tuco was and still is in prison, where he might end up staying if he carries on shivving guys for nothing; he’s not intimidating in the same way as Hector was back when he had the capacity to intimidate.
Lalo lures you in and makes you his friend, which is far more dangerous. He hides his intentions behind a friendly smile and an endlessly deep gaze that distracts you from the fact that he’s the cat and you are the mouse.Bookmarked by Addict7to7problems77

“He treats you like a pet,” Nacho said. Your face said it all in a split second–shock from the insult and the accusation--disgust at Nacho being the one to say it and, worse than all that, shame.
“Speak for yourself,” you replied, trying to hurt him back but figuring the remark would have no effect. To your surprise, Nacho’s head snapped back a bit like he’d been stung.
“You don’t know what you’re saying,” he said softly but seriously, those big fawn eyes locked on yours, his arms crossed tight over his chest.
“And you do?”
He lifted one hand and patted it against the fridge, then left it there. “You’re so clueless. Lalo wants it that way for a reason. A lot of reasons. I don’t think you have any idea of who you’re actually dealing with.”
