Sometime during the events of the season 2 finale, the Party formed fully fledged pack bonds with each other. As far as they were concerned, anyone who didn't like it could keep their thoughts to themselves.

Summary
Despite having found friendships after the whole End Of The World ordeal, Eddie feels trapped in Hawkins.
Having friends who love you isn't enough to make up for being hated by everyone else, so Eddie makes the decision to leave for a different life in a city that feels like forever away.He assumes that he'll be missed but that people will move on.
It's not THAT important to anyone, right? Especially not Steve, who Eddie is especially fond of.
