Comfort Fic Unlocked!
This really helped me define some concepts for myself and how I can explain it to others. As a new writer I'm seeing how hard it is to write certain 'normal' human experiences. Especially writing emotion. Overall this story game me not the standard 'gruff but needs to be buttered up' Izzy that I love it. I am currently 20k into a 80k Izzy-centric whip this helped me define how I want to write Izzy.

‘Look,’ Ed points. ‘It’s you.’
There’s a cat Izzy hadn’t noticed before, smaller than the rest, a tiny clump of jet black fur with wide blue eyes. It walks with a pronounced limp — at the end of one of its front legs is a stump where the paw should be.
Or, Izzy gets a kitten, and things start to go wrong.

The ability to learn and grow. Unearthing old wounds in times of calm and peace. Settling into a new world. Redefining life by wants and not just needs. Family is chosen by who you accept into your life; friendships(the crew), and partners.
Amazing cat fic, amazing POV Izzy, well-written and developed characters. Character voice (for all characters) is lovely. Perfect internal dialogue. Izzy's trauma is more respected here than I am predicting S2 will be! Definitely need to reread.

Israel Hands, first mate to Blackbeard himself, number one Stede Bonnet hater, and general badass experienced pirate with (infinitely many) better things to do with his time, is sneaking silently across the deck of his own ship in the dead of night, bent on taking a rowboat and expending a great deal of time and effort in order to retrieve the person he despises most in the world.

Blackbeard's post-breakup leadership style leaves much to be desired. As much as Izzy hates to admit it, Stede Bonnet might be the only one who can get through to him at this point. So he sets off on a quest to find him.
